Da Southern New Hampshire!

Due to memory loss and the exact detail of each move, Ill try to sum up a game of WARMACHINE vs. HORDES.

I bolded the important stuff. This was the greatest game of WARMACHINE Ive ever had.

Each player was allowed up to AROUND 300 pts (due to the fickleness of HORDES battle group points). So it was 600 vs 600.

I fielded Vlad and a Beserker with 4 Man o Wars and Ternions. Perfect 300!
My Buddy was Battle Set Sorscha.

The opponent had Troll Blood battle set + Totem Hunter.
His buddy? Everblight Boxed Set.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I deployed across from the Troll Bloods and my buddy across from the Everblight.
First Turn: Everblight runs all 4 guys and the dragon.
Trolls run foward, Madrak does Surefoot.

I move foward and Shield Wall, beserker Charges something 3 feet away and *gasp* failed charge!
Ternions move, Vlad Wind Walls and for the hell of it Signs and Portents.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn Two: My beserker is Slammed by a thrown spear.... stuff happens cant remember, but it was a whole lot of nothing and moving. Everblight Dragon Thing moves to the flank of my buddy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn Three. Sorscha promptly dies after she uses her feat by the Everblight Warlock who manages to shoot her twice and kill her (as the Warlock was about 1/4th of an inch out). Huh, it now seems to be a 2v1. Me being the 1.
I move Vlad near a Troll Spearthrower and kill him. My guys keep shield walling. Ternions pull off some blizzards and ice cages on the Troll Axer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn Four through something... This is where my memory lapses as I desparatly try to end the game because I had a game of 40k waiting for me, and it was pretty hopeless at 2v1. Oh well.
What happens? Every turn I cast Blood of Kings.
I manage to kill the Totem Hunter and the Axer. The other Troll Spearthrower was frenzied upon by the Everblight's Shredder, who rolls 3 6's for damage, and kills the Spearthrower.

My beserker's cortex was destroyed by 2 Shredders who remain with it for the rest of the game (until it died near the end by those 2 same shredders) so it couldnt explode. It did squat.
My Man o Wars just hung out with Vlad and took some damage while dealing some back.

I moved Vlad into combat with Madrak (Blood of Kings of course) and did a few damage points. He was untouched next turn by Madrak. The Carniviean spends the rest of the game chasing Vlad and working around the Inert Warjacks left behind by Sorscha (whom I did not bother reactivating).

Vlad then leaves combat with Madrak and attacks Hellyth doing some damage points. Madrak spends his turn killing some Man o Wars.
Hellyth does nothing but heal herself. Shes at about 10 boxes now.
Vlad breaks combat and attacks Madrak in the back, after Madrak passes about 4 "tough" rolls, I kill him with the last Skirmisher attacks. Thats it for Troll Bloods.

Hellyth... doesnt do much but move.
Vlad charges into melee and brings her to about 2 boxes after she keeps redirecting damage to the Shredders. On the last attack roll needed to kill her, I roll a 5, I needed a 6 to hit. She has one turn left. She does jack on her turn. I then kill her with Vlad.
2v1! Yo.

Yeah, Vlad is pretty tough for the Hordes boxes to do anything about. I am actually pretty surprised that Sorscha went down. She should have rampaged through the Everblight stuff after popping her feat. (Missing the 'lock is just poor playing- you can measure CTRL at anytime).

I suspect any of the better WM casters (IE any box caster, Darius, etc.) should slice through Hordes pretty well.

Considering that Warmachine has 3 books worth od models, and some of the 4th as well, while Hordes just has the basic box sets, thats a pretty piss poor comparison.

At the very least, wait till hordes gets all their basic models out from Primal.....

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

I don't know...Hordes has a lot of good stuff in Primal. I think once the full line of models in Primal is out, even before any suplements are released, Hordes will be able to hold its own. You can't just compair casters, in many ways, the power in hordes is decentralized and is found in how you combine the warbeasts and the casters.

I was reading this battlereport with great interest to see how others fared in warmachine vs. hordes, when it dawned on me that I was the Sorcha player.

And be nice about the missing the warlock thing, I played 3 of my 5 total warmachine games that day, it takes a while to remember all the rules! :-) Anyway, the mistake wasn't missing her, she wasn't my target, the mistake was not realizing exactly how far she was going to swing around with a 7 inch movement and have the ability to kill me from that distance in one round. I left a screening warjack that didn't quite cover me where it was needed. Lesson learned. But that was a great game my teammate played as Vlad! It got really messy there near the end! Good Job!

Hrm, I think you might have missed what I actually posted. I stated that I suspect the better WM casters will slice through Hordes pretty well. Notice I said "suspect" and didn't limit it to just the boxes. The fact that WM has 3 books is irrelevant. What each has is what it has. And WM seems to have a slightly higher power curve, on average. Not a big deal, really, as they are 2 separate, albeit compatible games.

No, its EXACTLY relevant, Thats 3 years potentially you've been playing vs, what? Two weeks of Hordes release that folks have had to practice with them.

Except of course, I'd gather you've been playing with vlad a heck of alot longer that Hordes has even been out.

Give it 6 months and try again, after folks really start shaking out whats what in Hordes.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Keep in mind you guys had 2 tailored 300pt armies vs 2 battle boxes. Not exactly what I call a fair pairing or comparison.

Da Southern New Hampshire!

Sorscha was a battle box.
I was tailored. Trolls had about 320-340 to make up the slack for Everblight, due to that Totem Hunter.

If you remember any key parts of the rep Doug, please do share, I kinda made you look rather bad with Sorscha.

You did after all, kill me and Mike that one game effortlessly.

Anyways, my experience with Vlad is the toilet. Ive had like 3 games with him. The moral? Something to do with Vlad.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.
