About a year ago I could no longer resist the temptation and bought my first Ork models, the Battleforce starter kit. Wish I had done this ages ago because Orks are just awesome to model and play with. My love for the orks dates back more then 10 years however. By then I was only playing fantasy but an avid fan of White Dwarf battlereports in which the Orks reared their big green fists.

A well, over the last year a lot has happened. I've painted quite a lot of models and built even more of them. Time to start a paint blog!
The most massive thing I've made so far is my scratch-built Ork Blasta Bomber. It is not finished yet but comming there.

Let me start of with some of the models which I've finished over the past year:

The first couple of boyz, testing the paintscheme I had in mind: lots of yellow, damage and snow. It is kinda hard to paint but I like it for its boldness, like the lads have just jumped from the pages of a comic-book.

A couple of bikes which are a mix of regular bikes and Nob bikers.

And on towards som vehicles. Trukk, Looted Wagon and Battlewagon.

That looted wagon needed a friend so I have a second now which is nearly finished. As well as two new trukks, which are actually halftrakks.

I am currently working on some more Stormoboyz, bikes and my bomber. Some pics of the later:

Early pic with the Dakkajet in the background for comparison.

And the latest two models I built are a Warkopta...Oh yeah "Tour of Duty orks!"

I only finished it yesterday, so it has no paint yet. A couple of the finished boys are being transported on it though.

My other big project of the is a Custom Battlefortress. With two Supa-kannons and a Supa/Big-Lobba. It can also double as a Skulhamma battlefortress.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on the fantastic army you have going here. It looks like you have excellent vehicle conversion skills. I saw your bomber on another post and was very impressed. It looks like the Warcopta, Looted Wagons and Battlefortress are looking just as good.

The paint quality on the boyz is also top-notch! You must have a lot of skill and patience to do that much checkering on your boyz. I'm looking forward to seeing you get some more painted to ride in all those great transports you have.

You definitely cover the full spectrum of Orkishness. They look like speedy Bad Moons with a dash of Goff toughness thrown in.

Keep up the good work. You can see my Orks in the link in my signature, but maybe I'll start a blog on Dakka as well when I get the time to upload the pictures.

Thanks a lot Riddle. I must say your own Ork conversions are awesome. I like the tankbustas a lot. And the meganobs look ace as well, how did you make the claw of the one in the middle? Nice work!

Checkering doesn't take all that much time to do btw. And I find it a lot of fun indeed. I have not a clue which of the ork Clans my boyz are from, frankly I never decided, just started painting I've more of them painted but for some reaons I never take the time to make some proper pictures. More will come soon

Mosby, thanks for checking out my page. The fingers on the klaw are made from extra boarding plank hooks from the trukk kit. I am learning to paint models decently, but my freehand is terrible. I can't hope to do nice, neat patterns like you. I'm lucky I paint Orks so when my freehand looks like kindergartener did it, I can justify it by saying Orks are sloppy painters!

I can't wait to see more of your stuff. I really like the personality of the nob with the beard and the furry Russian hat. He just looks like a big, tough veteran that none of the boys would mess with!

Keep it coming!

After a basecoat I've done the first few colors: metal-metal highlight and wash. With some reds just for fun, and the first bits of yellow on the rotors. Lots to do but having a bit of color makes it a complete model instead of a jumble of bits. The aim is to bring the painjob close to those of the trukks so more next update

(bad picture alert!)

Fantastic work, love the battlefortress. Did you make the conversions yourself or where did you get them from?

Love it all!

Thanks a lot. And yes, all are home-made conversions.

Here's a picture of the vehicles I put on the table yesterday. Of course they were all filled to the brim with boyz and accompanied by a large group of bikers. It was an awesome 1850pts game against another Ork army.

The photo of the whole army together is epic! Obviously a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into that fine collection of mechanized, death-dealing Ork vehicles.

By keeping a very strong and consistent paint scheme throughout, your collection really feels like a single warband. I bet it makes for awesome games and battle reports!

You have my respect.

Fielded my Skulhamma Battlefortress for the first time yesterday. It was only undercoated, but still I liked to see how it performed in an 1850 pts game. Well, the answer is: not all that well. It wasn't worth its point. However, the coolfactor wins always of course

The Skullhamma just after deployment. My opponent played Orks MSU which gave me no real targets of value. Besides that the Skullhamma kannon is not all that interesting by itself. In the first turn it managed to kill 5 gretchin and 4 stormboys. Turn two it scored a pen on a battlewagon which was stunned. The same happened in turn 3. I had expected the two twin-linked shootas + two twin-linked rokkit-launchas to be enough for it's own defence against MSU koptas and the likes but it wasn't. The two which arrived were not able to kill it completely though.

Fun game however and 'll certainly be fielding it more often....and painting the monster as well However there are some models which have a higher priority: two Big trakks and a mob of grot tanks

The Blasta Bommer in action yesterday. Having mowed down a flyrant it moved on to put another flying Tyranid monster in its sight. The Dakkajet wingman is trying to distract the annoying dakkafexes.

I've been building a second dakkajet to support the bomber. Think a wing of three planes will look nice

It took me quite some time, but buggy two and three are ready. One has a magnetised rokkit/skorcha. For the other one this was not possible due to the size of the flamer and the grot which is trying to 'fire it up'. I like to include this comic-style moments in my models and grots are just awesome for doing just that. Took a bit of conversion to get this lad hanging from the flamer but I quite like the result.

Here's a close-up of the little grot and his lighter. I am not sure if this is a really safe way to ready your weapon when driving at full speed. But hey, they are gretchin, who cares!

And a group shot of the first three buggies (out of a planned six).

For some time now I've been looking at building a Kustom stompa. This being a variant on the regular stompa, the rules for the kustom one kan be found in IA:8. I would like to include a Gaze of Mork, Deff kannon with Supa-gatler, Deff arsenal in the belly and a Lifta Droppa arm. Now at first I planned to buy the forgeworld Lifta droppa arm and Gaze of mork head, which are both rather nice. But lately I thought the better of it and instead started building it myself.

This is the result of the stompa body with the head. The Gaze of mork is set in the 'mask' with a lot of mechanical stuff behind it to represent the energy-consuming weapon system.

The massive arsenal of weaponry in the belly is the Deff arsenal, same I used in the Blitza-bomber. The idea is that this arsenal can be wheeled in and out of a bunch of hatches by the gretchin crew.

Now came the task of building myself a lifta-droppa arm. For which I took bits and pieces from many ork kits as well as the parts of the regular mega-choppa arm of the Stompa. The 'claw' was build using plasticard. All in all a lot of fun to build.

However I decided to make it a little bit more difficult for myself by wanting to be able to detach the arm and be abel to put it on a battlewagon for a Lifta-wagon. One of the most wonderful Orkish contraptions out there, but sadly almost useless.
This is the result. A bit less high then the Forgeworld version but almost the same size in length. Played my firts game with it yesterday and it performed ok, altough it is outragiously expensive.

Dude this thread is amazing! Holy Mork you've got some of the best Ork conversions going on that I've ever seen.

I know this is a bump out of the blue but an update on where your Stompa is at would be awesome (I'm currently ploughing through my own Stompa conversion so all inspiration is greatly appreciated)!

A bit of a late reply from me. Thanks for the kind words. The Stompa is just as it was in the last picture altough it is undercoated black now. I have some plans to continue working on it and make it an additional arm with a claw in order to be able to field it as a Claw-stompa as well.

How's your Stompa comming along?

Well, that proves it. It's way too long since I gave this thread some love. Here are some pics of the models I've painted in the past few months.

Bikerboyz!

And some converted tankbustas

The pride of my army at the moment is Kaptain Badrrukk which I mainly use as the sergeant of a unti of Flash gitz (since the charater itself is rather bad indeed).

Kaptain Badrrukk looks great! Love the colours, the chequered pattern on the jacket looks really good too. Any tips for keeping them neat? The best bit has to be the treasure map tabard though, lovely little detail

Thanks for the kind words.

On Badrukk's chequered pattern; try to keep them uniform on the first go (that's more important then neatness). Then correct them with the highlight of the chequer and the highlight color of the coat itself to get them neat.

It has been some time since I last did some serious work on my ork army. Since the release of the codex I've been finally able to put aside my Guard army and focus on the yellow speedfreeks again.

Here's a group shot of some of the finished vehicles i've.

The three now obsolete buggies will be re-armed with big-shoota's so they might see the table now and then. They will be accompanied by two new buggies which are much bigger. Here's the first. As always some conversion work has gone into it. Since I think grots should operate buggies I've replaced both the driver and the gunner. The main weapon was not to my liking as were the burna bottles. So I replaced these with a big flamer and a grot trying to ignite it once. Reckless bugger he is Some minor work is needed on the tires and then it can be based.

At the same time I am working on another Smasha/Mekgun. This one based on a trukk chassis as every model has to be self propelled to be viable for a speedfeeks army This one has parts of many kits amongst which a stompa, basilisks and a Squigoth's lobba.

Also on the workingbench is a Traktor gun, yet again based on a Chimera chassis. Next I plan to do some more grots since they work well these days and need to finish my second unit of Flash Gitz. After that......

- a second Chinork Kopta. How cool it will be to swoop down on the enemy with two Chinorks and a support squad of kopta's?
- finally finish and get some paint on the Battlefortress, which will probably be fielded as a Killtank since Forgeworld dropped the Battlefortress' rules.
- Moar mek-gunz. Those things are utterly awesome!
- A Bone-breaker and a completely over the top Gunwagon.
