Beautiful work as always Knightly, have to say I really love that knight-titan. Paint work is crisp and the highlighting on the sword and engine is exceptional!

I love how you did the little vials and stuff on those Apothecaries! They look great! Also I feel you on the distraction thing. I've wasted too many hours that I could have spent painting playing video games (Warframe is my current main time sink).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

@Graven - I am committed to the GK's... or should I be 'Committed' due to the GK's.... who knows....

@Gits - Thanks Gits

@Zerg - Cheers, I do try to add a little bit of detail to each model... sometimes to my own detriment.

@York - Thank you!

Update: another month done an dusted, not that much done but still progress.

The main focus was on the Necron Destroyers, which were then completed

I painstakingly layered all the feathers on this LoC... wow that was an effort. I am debating on if I add a final highlight in white though.

Lightening claw terminators got some love, finished up the first one

got a second one underway and finished.

And started on a third

@York - Cheers man, appreciate the reply!

@Gits - Thanks

Update: Another month done and dusted, slow progress, but progress non-the less.

The Lord of Change got a little bit of attention this month. I haven't figured out what I'll do with the skin yet, but thats a later thing to worry about.

Washes on somethings

More work on the terminators!
Terminator 3

Terminator 4

I really like the face in this shot.

I think the Lord of Change is one of the most intimidating models to paint, looks like you are going to do it justice. Termintators are looking sharp as ever.

@Graven - Cheers boss!

@York - not going to lie, both of them have been lording over me for a while, they are both very intimidating!

Update: Well I'm not dead, nor have I given up the hobby! The holiday break was what I needed to unwind from the end of last year, work got super busy leaving me no time to paint nor no desire to. I dripped and dabbed my way through a few and had a couple of games as well.

On to the models:

Finished up the rest of the Lightening claw terminators

With the final one

done

Leading the squad to completion!
The models just assembled

And with Paint

Launched into a Bike

Done

Leading to a Sternguard

He'll be done soon, just waiting on the scribbles to be dry

On to a Chapter Master

Finally some photos of an Apoc game I attended, there was a slight miscommunication between the traitors and Loyalists with the Loyalists fielding competitive regular armies vs our goofy LoW heavy force. We ended up deploying first

Our deployment from left to right

Their deployment

With a view down the table

As I had 12 lascannons opposite me with a number of other high strength weaponry I knew my only units choice was to not die in our lines and used its full movement to sit right in front of their lines

I killed a bunch of things and stripped a big number of hit points from the felblade, I then charged into the centurions to hopefully stop the free round of shooting. Next turn saw then fall back and the Warhound died to Gulliman in Close combat. It failed to go nuclear, but I had save 1 reroll Command point, which then changed to an explosion. Killing a lot more. That made it all worth it.

It's SO awesome to see your army on the table and in action. Excellent strategy with the titan. They're really mobile bombs anyway.

@Gits - Yeah, agreed, I've been playing my Necrons this edition (can be lack lustre compared to all these new power lists out there) so getting to see grey on the table was a nice change. Words on the wind... there might be another Apoc game coming up this year... one I hope to attend with the big guy...

@Gwyn - Thanks! I felt like a true imperial commander sending my units to their death!

@Graven - Cheers, There have been a few I've not been as happy over and if given more time I might try fix them up, but over all I am happy with how they come out.

@Zerg - Slow and steady wins the race? or is it, any painting is good painting? I feel at this rate I'll be 50 by the time I get through the Gray Nights....

Update: I hope everyone is staying safe with all thats going on in the world. I've been inching along through another month, had a game vs Orks and was table bottom of turn 3, ouch. Then played Dark eldar and managed a handy win due to going second and keeping objectives secured, all very polarizing. I did get some painting done however...

Finished up the Chapter Master

I'm stoked with the robe bit I keep looking at it and wondering how on earth I painted it.

A new biker got love as well

More to come!

Back again after a month, I hope everyone is doing well despite the current climate and restrictions.

I am one of the few who can be considered lucky having a job that is considered an essential service as well as having the ability to work from home, this does mean that I have had more opportunity to paint, but haven't really taken the the reigns there.

However, I have done some painting, and mainly the bigger models, finishing up from last month are the completed pictures of the marines:

The Grav Biker

One of the Sternguard

The chapter master

With those having been completed I focused on one of the lords of change

Started on the base

And all done - It feels really good to get this guy done, hes been staring me in the face every day for a while now.

Now that he was done, another large model gets some love, the Corvus Blackstar

Blacklining and edge highlighting done on all the grey, this one took a while..

Moved to working on the largest bit, the body

Mostly done, some squiggles to do

All the bits separated

And built

some work on the base as well

I hope everything is alright with you.

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

@Graven - Yeah, the lighting made him look a bit under the weather, he's the same grey as the rest of the army, trust me

Update: A very productive month I have to say! Anyway onto the pictures!

The Corvus wings and tail section got the love

Along with the base

This lead to the completion

With its completion I turned my eye on to my least favorite models to paint... marine bikes... I was going to do them one at a time, but my stomach couldn't handle that, so all once it is.

Leading to completion on them as well

With that I sat down and smashed out a cheeky Necron crytek in an afternoon

And with that I move on to the last model I was working on, a terminator captain

@Graven - Cheers, yeah that big plane is pure amazing, and.. its magnetised, so once I figure out where I'm going to store it I can do that

@Gits - Cheers!

@Zerg - Thank you, I'm still not sold on Free hand, I always feel its to flat and the design is uninspired, but happy to hear positive thoughts.

Update: So over the course of the last 30 days 9th has been released, with it I brought the new box set as hey, it has marines and it has Necrons. Using this opportunity I also picked up the new illuminor szeras as I've run him in a large number of my 8th edition battles.

The box turns up and I figure, hey why not do this as a single push, rather than dilute it with multiple different units, upon taking them out of the sprues, this changed to only doing the Necrons first, then I'll do all my Primaris as a new push, just for sanity's sake.

So without further ado, the stages

Primed silver - the observant among you will notice there are some random models included, well my son has expressed interest in painting so I got him to assemble and mold line a bunch of spares models I have.

Washed with Badab Black

Drybrushed silver

Rust applied

Two coats of black on armour plates

Blue applied to energy weapons

First red edge highlight

Second red highlight

First blue Highlight

Second blue highlight

Bases done and the push is complete!

So I then decided I'd do a full Necron Army shot, cuz why not

While I was building and painting, a close mate of mine asked if I had any interest in painting up his new Primaris Ragnar model, of course I said and set to work

After priming and putting down base colours I went to work on the chain blade, having inspiration from the old version of the model with a colour transition I tried one as well

The state after I finished the blade

A close up shot of the cape and starting on the yellow on the shoulder pad

Under the cape

Shoulder pad done

Did some work on the base

As well as the other shoulder pad (with some advice from my mate)

Then went to work on the face

And almost done

Presenting Ragnar

With that done I started on the next step, this one got rather muddled as I've been sitting on a kickstarter I signed up for... for a number of months, which was the Critical Role mini's (I am a critter for sure) As well as doing a primaris push... I'm a glutton for punishment... for sure

And basing the primaris

All in all an action packed month!
