I'm mostly interested in wraiths warriors immortals night skyth deathmarks and stalkers
I'm kind of unsure about C'tan Shards and the heavy supports like doomskyth annialation barge doom cannon and monolith
Any ideas?

Run a decurion, bring whatever you just listed as liking in their little formation.

You will be fine.

Depends; if you're talking casual games, the above post actually makes sense. You take it in a Decurion, walk forward, and you'll learn from there. It's still important to learn movement and shooting priorities, but the base list itself will be so resilient and forgiving that you'll learn everything you need to learn.

As for ultra-competitive games (like going against 5-Knight lists, Flyrant Spam, or Gladius Marines), the most effective Necron strategies are to continually apply pressure, without overly exposing your key buffering units. A C'tan Shard is not great for ultra-competitive, as it rarely does enough by itself to justify its cost. This goes double because its shooting profile is randomized, so while many of their shots are reasonable, its rare that you get the one you really need, and you have the same chance of getting the one that's really terrible (tons of shots one vs high armour, or the D-shot one against a horde of infantry). However, your basic infantry are phenomenal at 12" and 24" range, and there's little in the game that can wipe them out. Meanwhile, they can continue to shoot turn after turn.

Play to the objectives, using your resilience to keep you on the objectives you need, and plan ahead for your army's movement since you won't be able to rapidly respond to your opponent's movements.

Good luck!

Decurion MSU or Lychstar are the most effective competitive Cron builds.

I'd tend towards the former because it has a higher margin for error. The Lychstar can be really good, but like any deathstar, requires expert piloting as one false move with a 1000+pt unit will lose you the game. It also has no psychic D and you need to have an answer for Eldar D Weapons; like Tomb Blades and min Wraith units for tarpitting them.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

The basic Necrons strategy is to outlast your opponent. You'll be outranged and possibly also outgunned and outrun, but also extremely hard to shift. Don't play too reactively; typically you won't have the range or speed for it. Give yourself set goals (ie. get this unit of Warriors to that objective, take out that vehicle with these Scarabs) and stick to them. Since your opponent can't respond to all your threats, he'll have to be selective and might make mistakes, the most common one being trying to actually respond to all of them and subsequently failing to stop any of them. Have a couple of fast counters, such as Wraiths or Tomb Blades, to deal with anything that MUST be dealt with.

As for units: If you're a beginner, build a Reclamation Legion. Losing objective secured hurts a bit, but gaining ever-living is huge. From there, add units to that formation, or give some of the others a go. The Harvest and the Cult are the most competitive, but I've won tournaments with my Judicator Battalion, and lots of people have success with the Deathbringer Flight. There isn't really a bad unit or formation in the Codex, but the C'Tan is one of the weaker ones. Fun sometimes though.

Any Necron player who fields that expects to win is in for a rude awakening... even more embarrassing would be someone who might lose against a list like that.

LychStar is hardly competitive, unless you're trying to catch something that can only move 6"... but come on, the competitive lists are most about speed.

Decurion = survivable but not very killy.
+ Destroyer Cult = survivable AND killy.
+ Harvest = excellent at tarpitting.
+ J.Battalion = super killy but not so survivable.

• Only take Deathmarks if you know you're going to be facing MCs/GCs.
• Doom Scythes are good against armor, but a little expensive.
• C'tan are not recommend, especially for someone just starting out.
• Flayed Ones, on the other hand, are excellent against anything except vehicles and high T units.
• Doomsday Ark & Annihilation Barge combo isn't so great.
• Obelisk is situationally cool, but probably skippable for now.

Never thought I'd see the day when "Flayed Ones" and "Excellent" appeared in the same sentence Now if only GW would make plastic ones...
