Trying to unite the Buffalo, western new york, rochester, even syracuse all the way to Erie, Pa, hell, even ontario, 40k community. We have several good gaming stores in the area, some facebook groups, and some individual gaming groups, but it doesnt seem like we are organized or communicate that well. I might be missing something, but i feel like we need a place to unite. So i started a small forum, where we can converse, organize open gaming, and a place to list special events. The link is below:

http://buffalo40k.createaforum.com/

Come join me, as it is just me right now.

Or let me know where people converse and gather for 40k.

Buffalo Unite!

I know there has to be some 40k players out there. I met so many over the years at small tournaments. Im just getting back into the hobby and would like to organize this community. Any buffalo or near buffalo out there?

Welcome to Dakka.

I know there are a number of people out in that neck of the woods, so don’t take the silence here personally. I’m in the capital district myself, so you are a bit far west for me. I try to keep track of players in the Empire State, so will try to point people looking for a game in your direction.

Thanks man, i appreceiate it. Rome wasn't built in a day. Haha.

How's the community in the west of upsate new york. I travel alot for work up and down the 87. I always want to bring a small elite army to throw some dice with.

I game up in the glens falls area, but there are a few stores down closer to Albany. Not sure what's farther north, but there are places south in poughkeepsi (or however it's spelled) and down in NYC. Up and down the northway and across 90, you are never too far from a game.

Cool man. I might hit ya up, i have to audit something in albany in september. Do you ever go to tournaments in Albany?

In other news:
No one from Buffalo?

Scheduling and a more relaxed play style normally keep me away from tournaments. A chunk of stores in the area all post on a facebook page Upstate Honor Guard dedicated to 40k within a 3 hour drive of Albany.

I like your moxie! There's gaming groups spread throughout upstate, and it's been hard to tie them together.

I know that you started your forum to bring people together, but you may want to consider consolidating your efforts into this forum: http://thegrandstrategery.proboards.com/

I'm Crispy on the boards and we've been slowly building the forum for a couple of years now. We have regular from Erie, Buffalo, Rochester Syracuse and other places.

There's a decent community of us in the Rochester, NY area. I'm sure you'd be quite welcome if you were interested in making a trip out for a game.

Mondays are 40k night at Pair-A-Dice Games, though there's currently a league going on, so getting a game in outside of the league could prove tricky.

Rochester has a huge gaming group (mainly at RIT and Millenium Games).

Buffalo has a decent community too, I know for sure there are groups at UB and Niagra Hobby (they have the Mystery Science 40k Forum, but I don't know if that's still running).

There's also a pretty swell Malifaux group in Rochester and a smaller WarmaHordes group. They all meet regularly.

What store do you play at? ZP is closet so me but sometimes I go to Flipside/ Grimfoe.

As for Buffalo, the MWG store isn't too far across the border, maybe 20 minutes not counting the time spent crossing the border.

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.

Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.

And he will hold the line.

Dirty Goblin Games, up in Queensbury/Glens Falls. The distance is about the same from where I live up or down the northway, but I avoid Albany if I head up. I’ve been to Zombie Planet to shop once or twice a few years ago, seemed well stocked. Never gamed there. I know some of the guys from Flipside occasionally head up to the Goblin for events, I keep meaning to head down there one of these days; never been.

Yeah ZP has kind of a bad rep with some peopl. IDK why I've never had any problems. We get 10-12 people every week for 40k and no one is super WAAC. Lots of new players coming in too.

I don’t have a problem with the store, just the city traffic. Good to hear there is a good game scene going on down there. The impression I always got there was it was more focused on the “store” part of game store, and less on the actual playing. But I’ve not darkened their doorway for a couple of years no, so things might have changed.

The gaming stuff is upstairs but yeah it's a little cramped. The owner is talking about expanding it so we should get more room soon.
