Hi folks, I've had good success using Krylon Fusion as a spray primer but living in SC puts a good portion of the summer off-limits for spray priming. What brands of brush-on primer do you guys prefer? I have GW Imperial Primer and Vallejo grey primer, both work okay but I'd like to hear from the community. Thanks all.

Artists Gesso primer.
comes in black or white usually.
Black works really well especially.
All the big artist paint brands do one, and they portion it for canvas painters so 1 bottle will last you uncountable figures.

I use Black Vallejo Polyurethane primer in the winter, works on everything apart from Forge World resin.
I have white as well but I don't find it covers as well.

For brushing on, I swear by gesso. It's available in black, white and clear. It does take 24-48 hours to dry solid, and as it dries, it shrinks into the details. I still add some flow aid to it to thin it out.

Citadel brush on primer sucks imo.
Horrible for metal minis. Goes on in far to thin layers.
Scratches off from handling even when cured for 24-36 hours.
I have had much better results both Vallejo Poly primer.
I'm a convert. And the price is cheaper per mil than Citadels Imperial Primer.
