I don't know how the wife would feel about a rich glowing red wall in the house ......... although a quartered wall in red AND yellow with a giant Griffon rampart might look good

only thing left to quarter is the little Storm Talon and then it's just Terminators when they arrive! and it's all done with a brush, no airbrush here just a can of primer 30+ marines and a lovely relaxing hour or two of ruining another brush!

Can't wait for you to work your magic on this massive pile of basecoated stuff and knock out an awesome-looking army overnight!

Well, my plan might be lofty but I really really would love to produce an army of them worthy of a feature in WD so everything is GW and i'm sticking to the minimal conversions that still look different like the chaplain as a chapter master etc :-) I'm pretty excited too about them.

As always..... wow....just wow. I love the Griffins, that is such a hard colour scheme to pull off and make look good ( plus two of my least fav colours ugh red AND YELLOW... double ugh) but as usual you make it look easy peasy.

I love the little bobcat for the ZM board that ZM board is going to look bloody fantastic when it's all done.

Always impressed by what you keep churning out Nerdfest! How is the Griffins paint scheme in terms of time you spend on each marine? It seems like you are essentially painting two separate models all needing their own different highlights, I would personally break down in tears after the first squad!

Hope the lungs stop bothering you soon by the way, I always find that inhaling a good old bit of Forgeworld resin dust cleans them out nicely, maybe you should give that a try?

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can inhale to appease the lungs for the lung god! so far it consists of lots of steroids but i'm sure resin will suffice!

as far as painting the Griffons go, well, they're not as bad as you'd think, yes it's almost like two models worth of highlights but I tend to work on all the red first as it's the most involved of the two colours and i'll do each step on every model in a squad before moving on to the next one. the best part is that I use Agrax to shade both colours before painting so once I've quartered every model I then wash over the quartered marines etc with agrax and then they're ready to go!

So much in the last couple of days just landed on my desk! and in typical Nerd fashion I started pretty much everything!

So firstly I quartered and started the last vehicle (at this stage) for my Griffons army the little StormTalon




And then a really cool local guy came over to discuss a project he wants me to do for him, and left me with a model to paint up to a good job for his Nurgle army. I finally get to paint the new Mortarion model and i'm pretty happy about it too! so I started on his base to make it more thematic.






And while he was at my place I had a knock on the door and it was the delivery man with my new terminator squad for the Griffons, that may not be so exciting except the fact that the squad is made and converted from the Series 2 Japan only Heroes models

So I built all the bodies and and then got together all my arms from the normal Termies squad and also the arms and the heads from the models themselves and swapped them around to get a cool variation of poses and attitude in each character and I'm really happy with the way they look at this stage, still a little to do on them but not long until I can prime and paint.










I can't wait to get into that last Terminator that looks like he's running forward ready to seriously injure someone with that fist!!!

Ahhh. I found exactly the same forklift on thingiverse. Did you find the add on armour and light packs? The same guy has also done a little transporter using the same cab assembly. When I can safely abuse my works 3d printer I shall get 2 or 3 printed up.

Hey guys, so I worked on Morty today he's a great model to paint! the only 'hard' thing is keeping him looking grimy but still detailing him enough to pick out his character and parts! originally I was going to do him all dark bronze and verdigris but changed tack when I actually started him, i'm pretty happy with progress so far today I reckon he'll be a pretty nice centerpiece for the army!

I'll probably finish the dirty white armour tomorrow with some small scratches and blacklining and work on his face so I can get a feel for how to paint his face and wings to stand out (i'm thinking rotting flesh would look good?)

so here's the pics, love to hear your thoughts.

Morty is looking good, I'd forgotten he had wings for a moment which had me wondering how he was floating! I like that you've kept him to his legion colours under all of the nurgle.

I've never seen those terminator models before, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

Morty is off to a really good start. You have a real knack for primarchs. His base is standout though. Really adds something to the model, I think.

Cheers fellas he's finished except for the wings now so I'm waiting until he's finished before showing you all, he is a complex model with lots and lots of details so I had permission from the guy i'm painting him for to enforce the 'In Nerd we trust' rule and i've selectively omitted some of the more cartoonish aspects like the flying nurglings to keep him looking darker and more sinister

Can I ask here if anyone has any of the Deathwing Terminator wing banner things? I don't know what they're actually called but I think they would be or could be a good addition to those Termies I built? what do you think? could be Griffon-ish or too distracting? either way i'm cool, just want opinions

Probably have one kicking about, but not 100% sure what you are on about.

I can almost hear the snapping leathery crack of his wings and the thick rustle of grime caked death shrouds draped as a cloak around his massive armoured form. Mortarion comes forth once again to spread death and sickness across the worlds held by the imperium, his voice calling his followers into battle, the baritone sound emanating from his vox reminiscent of bubbles of gas pushing their way through thick mucus and effluent to burst like rapid pops across a foul smelling swamp....... some would say it sounded like laughter, none would live to tell their tale.

Looks good! I really like the white on the armor. I think if I ever get one to send your way, white armor and a olive green robe would be the preferred scheme.

Not a fan of the red wings, personally, reads as too Khorne-y IMO, but it's incredibly well-painted.

I like the red, looks like they just pealed themselves away from his flesh and he is just taking flight with his new wings .

I'm a Leafs fan, I dislike even typing 'Red Wings'.

Though I hadn't considered that perspective and you're right it does make a difference in how I view it.

Would still prefer non-red wings, though.

I must admit I like the red wings. Makes it look atypical and unique.

It's a little hard to see in the pics but the 'red wings' are a bloodied rotting flesh so imagine the normal skin tones I paint but with added necrosis and green tinges to them near the rips and holes, the bloody frame of his wings move tearing the flesh of his back at each movement giving them no time to heal and thus continually leaking infected blood much to his twisted enjoyment.

I think that kinda says what I was aiming for
