It's funny how you and the GOP are focusing so heavily upon Red Hen's "mistreatment" of Sanders while ignoring that when a baker did the same thing regarding Joe Biden, you were celebrating it.

It's not like her dear ol' daddy wasn't stirring up gak too. She could have avoided any impropriety by simply not saying anything aside from "I cannot comment on the matter as it could be construed as retaliatory." and letting daddy do his PR stunt. Hell, she could have avoided most of the criticism by not out and out naming the restaurant and its location either. Not that it stops the derp brigade from screwing up as another Red Hen in DC is getting most of the flak for this event.

Oh and by the by? Her tweet came after her daddy posted his tweet about "Nancy Pelosi introduces her campaign to take back the House" using an image of questionable origin.

You absolutely are. You well know that it's an issue of optics and, quite frankly, that it was used to retaliate against the establishment--making it another wonderful example of an ethics violation.

While it might have gone viral beforehand, she had no reason to be responding using her official account. One would assume she has a private account where if she needed to make a statement, she could have.

But no. She made a statement on her official account, which was immediately followed by her daddy making a statement about "bigotry" and "hate" after making a racist joke in relation to a picture cropped from a Nazi website. It's a wonderful example of trying to incite the base.

From what I have read about the bakery incident, Biden wanted to use it as a photo op as part of a campaign. The bakery didn’t share his politics and turned him down.

The restaurant was within it’s rights to refuse service, but there are consequences to actions. Although I think it’s asinine what is being done by people in retaliation, such actions seem to be weapons and of both sides, liberal and conservative.

Here's the thing, guys: What Sanders did is illegal.

Literally, I have gotten emails from my superiors explaining in great detail how, if *I* were to have done what she did, I would be not only dismissed, but jailed. I'm not even allowed to 'like' a post on twitter that does what she did, if my twitter account in any way mentions my federal employment, lest I incur the wrath of the DoJ for violations of the Hatch act and Ethics rules.

She just took her government issue twitter account and used it for a personal vendetta. And I can guarantee you that there will be no consequences for her.

Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so

This is how. I will readily admit, this isn't the best, most sterling example of journalism, but it does seem to get a decent capture of the situation.

Edit: also. . . I know most of y'all won't remember, but I know I've said here that Pence as POTUS would be worse than the Cheeto. . . . I officially take that back. A trump staffer saying something racist? Never would of guessed

The former deputy campaign manager for President Donald Trump told a black Democratic strategist he was out of his "cotton-picking mind" while bickering on Fox News on Sunday morning.

The comment by David Bossie, who now leads Citizens United, instantly drew backlash and caused Fox News host Ed Henry to issue an apology on air.

Bossie and Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist, were discussing immigration and the upcoming midterms when the debate between the pair got more heated.

Payne listed some of the controversies surrounding Trump since he took office, including Trump's controversial comments that downplayed the deadly white nationalists rally in Charlottesville, then told Bossie that the American people "don’t have to be a golden retriever to hear all the dog whistles coming out of the White House these days and from my friend David over here."

A dog whistle is a subtle comment that isn't understood widely but aimed toward a particular political group where it's read perfectly clear.

The pair went back and forth again then Bossie told Payne, "you're out of your cotton-picking mind." Payne appeared taken aback and said "lemme tell you something. I've got some relatives that picked cotton and I'm not going to sit here and allow you to attack me like that."

After the segment, host Ed Henry addressed the remarks, apologizing on behalf of the network, and explaining Fox News does not agree with Bossie's comment.

"I just want to address what just happened in that debate. Obviously it got fiery and David Bossie used a phrase that clearly offended Joel Payne and it offended many others," Henry said.

He said that while he has known Bossie for a long time, he would let him address the comment but wanted to make sure viewers knew that both he and the network did not condone that phrase because "it was obviously offensive."

Bossie could not be reached immediately for comment.

After Pizzagate, who knows?.... (I have a friend that regularly ate at that pizzeria when she lived in DC. She wasn't there for the armed idiot - but she knew people that were. What to me was a funny story is, for her, a bit closer to terrifying.)

There are limits to that. Businesses should not refuse people because of things inherent in their being. Gender, race, sexuality, disability etc. Working for a particular person is not part of that. A business should be able to refuse to serve people if they wish within bounds. A bar in Detroit could refuse to serve Ford workers as they see themselves as a GM bar. Or a sports bar refuse entry to away fans, or a bar refuse to let people in wearing football kit (not unusual in the UK). Non of these things are discrimination in the legal sense.
