Lots of great work, but Lauka Vai is my easiest favorite. Really dig her sculpt, and you've done a great job on on her face, skin tone and that heavy contrast between her armor and beastly nethers

Cheers everyone, I may have been quiet but I have also been productive. First up is the news that I have finally finished painting up my Cursed City set with the final two heroes from the set.

First up is Dagnai Holdenstock, I feel kindof bleurgh about him but he is done. I just could not settle on a decent colour scheme for him:

I am much happier with Brutogg Corpse-Eater...just a shame that the whole Ogre range does not share his aesthetic. But I am happy with him:

So onto more Soulblight Gravelords. I am really enjoying the variety, versatility and ease of painting for the new Zombie kit and to that end I was able to bang out 15 of them, just 5 more and the boxed set will be done:

Even more fun was the new Dire Wolves kit. I decided to go with a white scheme to echo the pelt on Radukar's cloak. A simple base of Wraithbone spray, then Apothecary white with Gryph charger grey on the tail and around the neck at the same time to create some blending. Throw on some pink and blood on the wounds and paint the claws, eyes and teeth and they almost paint themselves:

And the unit:

Continuing the Wolf theme we have Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos. I adore this model, I hope I did her justice:

Finally is Lauka Vai, The Mother Of Nightmares. This was a lot of fun, I am not totally sure of the overall effect but I am very happy with her skin, the pale blue grey with heavily mediumed purple and red washes created a great effect. I also relatively happy with the blood red armour. Anyway, here she is:

So we are two thirds through the month and I have 32 miniatures painted this month, so good progress.

As ever, thanks for looking.

Lauka Vai is stunning. Fabulous work. Especially the skin tones. Volga is another amazing piece. All those white wolves make for an attention grabber.

Great work as always. That's a great white on the wolves and the zombies look wonderfully grimy

Another winning post! The horde of zombies are looking really cool shambling along together. The blood red armour is a triumph, but it’s the simplicity of the Wolves that does it for me. You’ve made them look fantastic with what sounds like minimal effort! Kudos!

Wow, excellent work on those zombies, wolves and vamps! The wolves especially look great, with such a simple recipe too

Congrats on finishing Cursed City!

The wolves look stunning as does Lauka (Still don't like the sculpt though).

Amazing work as always, knocking great minis out of the park in speed and style. And congrats on finishing the Cursed City set, with the additional minis you should have a sizable AoS force now.

Cheers everyone. I am being a bit rubbish at looking through and replying on other people's blogs on here at the moment, apologies for that. Anyway this is my June progress report, all told I completed 40 miniatures this month so it was a productive start to summer. That takes me to 190 miniatures painted this year so I am very happy with that. Here is June's completed photo:

That amounts to a lot of Soulblight with only 2 heroes from Cursed City and a single 40k miniature. Here he is, a slightly kitbashed Baneblade Commander with a GSC head and bolt pistol. Basically I painted him to force my hand into starting to paint the actual Baneblade itself, and that will be the first miniature I am working on in July:

And basecoats on the Baneblade BEFORE ANY OTHER PROJECTS:

So what else have I done since my last update? First up are 5 Zombies to complete my unit of 20. Truth be told I am not completely sure these are the ones I painted since last time as one Zombie looks much like another...but let us just pretend they all are new:

And what use are Zombies without a Necromancer to raise them? An old sculpt but he was fun and easy to paint, I wanted a relatively dark look to him. I am especially happy with his glowing green eyes but they do not really come through well here:

Finally is my Zombie Dragon/ Vampire Lord On Zombie Dragon (hereafter VLOZD)...the great thing about this kit is the Vampire Lord easily hotswaps on and off the Dragon so I basically have both a hero and a Behemoth model to use. Modularity is rarely a bad thing. Mostly Contrast on the dragon, and purple armour on the Lord...I am happy with him.

Thanks for looking.

That dragon is such a cool miniature, you’ve really done it justice. What’s with the pose of the rider though? You’ve done a nice job with the paint, but he has a very 4th Ed pose.

The dark necromancer looks really cool, can imagine him in some artwork. His horde of zombies look great too.

Can’t wait to see your GSC Baneblade take shape

Hail VLOZD!

That mini blew my mind when I first saw it in a White Dwarf all, those years ago, and it's still one ofthe coolest GW ever came out with if you ask me. As gobert said, you've definitely done it justice.

Amazing update, Baneblade Commander looks great and with such a simple headswap. And gotta echo gobert, that poor lord on the dragon does not look comfortable But it is a great paintjob.

Blimey, another month has passed. And I have failed to paint the Baneblade again...so what have I done?

I have painted the Kruleboyz half of the Dominion boxed set. Initially sceptical of the design of the miniatures I now love them. So all told the Kruleboyz half accounts for 39 of the 40 miniatures I have painted this month, taking me to 230 for the year.

So here is the monthly shot:

So here is my solitary Stormcast Annihilator for the Lions of Sigmar...that unites tow of my favourite things...lions and purple.

I am looking forward to tackling the rest of the Stormcast with that scheme.

Anyway, onto the Kruleboyz.

First up the dull half of the minis, the 20 Hobgrot Splittaz. Pretty easy to knock these out as they are just skin, armour, eyes and teeth and claws.

I really enjoyed the scareshields on the Gutrippaz, yellow is a bit of a departure for me but by combining the two Contrast yellows they came out fine. Really fun battleline unit to me:

The Man skewer boltboyz share the scheme well

So onto the characters, first up is the Murknob with Belcha Banner, I love this guy and am very happy with how he turned out:

The Swampcalla Shaman and pot grot are next, I tried to add a bit of mysticism with him with a grey rather than brown cowl, not sure if it totally works:

The Killaboss with Stab Grot is a cracking miniature, quite tall as well:

Finally is my favourite miniature in the whole set, the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof, I hope I did him justice:

No idea what i will be tackling next though.

As ever, thanks for looking.

I have been sorely lacking in time recently and not able to keep up a time all, but this months group shot . I picked up Dominion and just started painting recently and I was thinking of getting rid of the Kreulboyz, but I think you just changed my mind. Those look awesome, well done.

Just wow! Amazing how you painted the orcy dominion half and they look great. The yellow shields look so cool, you always use the Contrast colors very effectively.

I always look forward to your monthly updates, the volume and quality is always fantastic. I like what you’ve done with the kruleboyz, though I find their proportions a bit odd (the arms vs the feet on the boss on the gnashtoof for instance). As others have said that yellow is great, the two contrast colours seem to work well together!

The colours on that Stormcasts remind me of something?

Beautiful set of greenskins, you've really done those weirdly fantastic sculpts proud. Great skin tones throughout and the yellow is a great pop.

Thanks everyone...massive tank you say.

I got my Cult Baneblade done, I am really pleased with it but the photos are a bit lacking. I took plenty but with models of this size I always get multiple blurry and unusable ones. But here she is:

And here she is with the rest of my GSC army, inconclusion I have the toys and now I need the boys!

I have also painted up a few Soulblight Gravelords heroes for my army. First up is a generic Vampire Lord, with a headswap as I was not too keen on the bat hair version:

Next up is Lady Annika, The Thirsting Blade and Kritza The Rat Prince. Their oval bases and orientation of the models makes them a pain to photograph, but here they are:

Finally is Radukar The Beast. I am really happy with this one, a cracking miniature and sculpt:

Finally is my Soulblight Gravelords army that I have painted since about March this year, probably need more Battleline units but I am happy with how it is going:

This morning I started work on another Renegade Knight, so 40k wise it seems like Super Heavy month.

Thanks for looking.

As ever, another great update. The Baneblade looks spectacular heading up the GSC. The new undead are fantastic too. I especially like Radukars little lad gathering a goblet of spilt blood!

Thank you everyone for checking in and the kind comments, it always surprises me when anyone is motivated to pop in here and have a look.

So, another month is in the books and completed. All told I painted another 29 miniatures for a total of 259 for the year thus far.

This month was a pot pourri of miniatures, first up are some more Soulblight Gravelords in the form of Direwolves and some more skeletons.

This 2nd lot of 10 Direwolves is painted exactly the same as the first, the only difference is I tried to make the Doomwolf look a little darker:

I also tried to make the Skeleton units from Cursed City more rounded out with full numbers. For some reason in Cursed City you get 7 skellies with spears and 3 with swords (and command mixed in)so this month I painted 3 of the multi part skeletons with spears (and a champ with halberd mixed in) to get a full unit of 10:

Also on an AOS kick I decided to add some trolls to my Kruleboyz, this is a real fun kit to build with some great options. I have no idea if the unit will really fit in the army but they have the Destruction keyword so that is a start:

My Celestial Lions have been lacking a bit of love recently so I decided to paint up a miniature I have had around for a while. One of my favourite Chaplain sculpts in....eurgh...finecast. So here is my Celestial Lions Deathspeaker on tacticool rock. It was nice exercise to get back to some good old highlighting black power armour:

Also completely out of leftfield I was visiting my local GW store where on the "last chance to buy, we are about to send these back to the warehouse" shelf I saw Gaunt's Ghosts...I just had to have them. I really enjoyed this change of pace and painting them. I was considering converting them into GSC but wimped out at the last minute. Admittedly the Camo Cloaks look a bit basic, but they will do for now:

Finally is another big 40k miniature, another Chaos Knight this time the Knight Desecrator for my House Herpetrax army. That just leaves the big huge Knight left to do for the army. Again this was just a fun project and a nice change of pace:

So here is the months shot:

No firm plans for September...so let us see what it brings. Thanks for looking.
