I don't like the fact that there is a cog in it if it is for AOS. Leave Omnisiah in 40K. If it is Chaos Dwarves though , but seeing as there is a maggot on it's tongue I doubt it.

every time people wish the new army is X from history of wahammer returning, it ends up being a new thing. Tomb kings returning ended up being OBR, vampirates ended up being cursed city and idoneth crab, HE ended up as cow-elves...it seems GW is hell bent on not giving old factions a go.

We should be getting another one day today. Hopefully it’ll shine some more light.

Not that you're wrong about GW's direction, but you should probably make a distinction between factions and races. Lumineth certainly are all kinds of bogus if you wanted High Elves, but they are the same variety of haughty elf and fill a similar spot. Ossies aren't Tomb Kings, but they take the same direction as undead constructs Tomb Kings were famous for. Genestealer Cults didn't get a limo and the corporate/mobster links, but under all that mining theme they're clearly Genestealer culitsts.

GW's new things aren't always new. Not at their foundation anyway. Some are more or less based on existing things. There's no guarantee that Fimir come back just because of all the swamp talk in the teaser, but you can't rule it out either based on people being too optimistic in the past. GW could easily bring back the same creatures under entirely different clothes and armor, with different background and culture than people remember. Not that there was all that much back in the day. It wouldn't be the same, but it would still be Fimir, and if you make a list of AoS (and returned 40k) factions you will see a lot more of that than entirely new things that had people fooled into thinking something beloved from the past would return when it didn't.

OSR aren't really similar to TK in aesthetic or lore, the constructs are the only thing remotely similar. LRL are elves, that is true. There was also the silly talk of fishmen when idoneth were teased. Point is, GW does NOT bring back dead factions 1:1 to AoS, so even if they will be inspired by fimir aesthetic, they will not be the fimir.

They will almost certainly not have weird beaks and cyclopean eye and will almost certainly not use any of the pre-existing fimir lore, which means...you're left with a bestial faction living in the wilderness that looks nothing like the fimir, but somehow are going to be the fimir?

That's nonsense. If they look nothing like Fimir, GW isn't going to call them Fimir. It'll be something new, then. If they look like Fimir and are called Fimir, they'll be Fimir. Just like Lumineth are elves, even if they aren't High elves one for one.

which is my whole point. GW may take some inspiration from old designs, but they don't "bring old armies into AoS". Fimir are as likely as vampirates, Tomb Kings or Chaos Dwarfs (there are dwarf chaos worshippers in AoS, but they do not worship Hashnut and don't appear to have any aesthetic elements in common with WFB chorfs).

The likelyhood of a fimir army is much lower than the likelyhood of a new army.
