Because 100% of all 40k games ever played are recorded in competitive statistics, and all models are purchased for games. Just lmao

Not to mention tournament armies are skewed toward more powerfull ones. Weaker ones stay at home but have still sales&games.

Also large amount of players have multiple armies and i don't know many who don't have marine army as 2nd or 3rd by minimum.

Tournament data is poor indication of sales.

Just saw the new BT minis. Those Primaris Neophytes look brill! I want a regular SM Scouts box like that, if the tabards are separate from the torsos, I could actually see myself buying the box.

Just take a look at these sculpts! (quick 'shop collage)

the various gang models obviously aren't in there, and I'm not sure what pictured actually is. It may just be two duplicate sprues that make 2 awnings and a weapon rack each, and a couple of crates and objects, and that's it.
I worry its going to be quite disappointing in hand (same with the outlaws, since there's only 4 bodies, and duplicate heads just in the 12 models they're showing off)

Looks like a couple big tents and a few small ones so I would think a sprue duplicate. Price point will make it or break it I agree.
But this is heading closer towards a potential plastic shanty colony or suburbs, which would be such a cool thing.

Yikes was it 2014? Man Nids need some love too, its been too quiet and models are kind of boring.
Only one kit or two with the same design will not cut it either we need something new and fresh.

I think you're all too optimistic tbh, i think they're just gonna be bog-standard Chaos cultists cosplaying as spiders, in the vein of Corvus Cabal.

Umm... what?

I don't have any Rogue Trader material handy, but I know that Space Marine, the novel by Ian Watson, came out in 1993. 3rd Edition came out 5 years later. They even got their own army box with custom metal IF parts in 2nd Ed.

To throw in some otherwise useless trivia, Black Templars had a color scheme example on a 2nd ed Space Hulk booklet's color page with the Terminator's stormbolter featuring a blue casing and, if I recall correctly, gold rather than silver metal. They weren't so monochrome until they featured as the poster boys of 3rd ed, and the notable presence of red on Sword Brethren was added even later than that. Templars were a work in progress long after the Imperial Fists had been established in the form we recognize today as canon (that is post-Rogue Trader).

Black Templars were, however, pretty popular from the moment they rose to prominence in 3rd ed. So it's certainly justified that they get model support, even if they're a successor chapter and a bit late to the party in real life terms.

Could you try being a little less intentionally dishonest.

Tyranids haven't had a model release since 2014. Some of the oldest models GW still makes are part of the Eldar range. Dark Eldar didn't even get a new model when their Codex arrived (Lilith had been released in a battle box previously).

In all fairness, Druk got Drazhar, Lilith and Incubi in this time cycle. They don't really need a huge plastic expansion, although I'm sure some players would have liked more character options. But if Eldar are getting the major redo as rumoured, then Xenos have had it reasonably good in the last few years.

Tyranids are one of the few Xenos races that haven't gotten a lot...but then the same could be said for Necrons prior to last year.

The Tau and Orks seem to be the easiest ones for GW to really "know" what they want to do with things or being able to find a reliable thing to release.

Yeah agreed. My main army is Nids, and while it would be nice to get new stuff after all this time Eldar and probably IG need a range refresh far more. I'll be happy with a token model and some more interesting rules. Luckily the rumour engine indicates two likely Nid models, which I'm expecting to be a Kill Team release plus character unit (Red Terror) alongside the codex.

I'm actually expecting the two nid models to be a release alongside the Octarius campaign book, whenever it finally drops.

3rd edition was wild for random army lists, there was like a new supplement rules set in like every second issue of white dwarf. I remember buying the chapter approved and index astarties books just to have them collected in one place. It was wayyyy worse than things are now.

As a returning IG player, all I really need is an updated kit that can build regular and command squad dudes. Vehicles are fine as they are, Abhumans are relatively new, as are Scions.

If GW wants to print money, they would add a Krieg Command Squad and Death Riders to the codex release and call it a day.

Couple of thoughts on GW's Gen Con setup.

First, why did they bring so much spray paint for sale? Kind of a bummer seeing all those colors my FLGS can never seem to get in stock and not being able to buy them. Or rather, not being able to take them home after buying them.

Second, that Eldar army they had for demo games looked incredible.

Ogryn are relatively new, Ratlings are still Finecast from three codices ago.

I've had long thinks on the subject of Guard...and it just keeps bringing me back to ditching HWTs from Infantry Squads and breaking Infantry "archetypes" into unique squads.

If GW wants to print money, they would add a Krieg Command Squad and Death Riders to the codex release and call it a day.

Rumor is that there's 3 boxes and a few blisters to come. Command Squad might not be in the cards though, since you can make them out of the Infantry Squad box.
