@Graven - Got it from spikybits limited resin print run

@Gits - urgh, head down brush up eh?

Update: So I got plenty of time working on the HQ's, however Mid November I pulled something in my upper back which took me out of commission for almost two weeks, so what I was actually able to get done was smaller than the previous month.

Anyway onto some picture as I'm sure thats what people have come to see

And done

Individual models from that lot

One of my players in my DnD group got a heroforge model and I offered to paint it for her

And done

Then started on the final LoC for my brother

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Sorry to hear about your back woes. Standard bearers look especially snazzy. Nice tiefling, I've toyed with designed up a Blue Devil for DC on Hero Forge, how's the quality to paint?

Man that's really lovely work on those marines Knightley. Re-defining crisp and grey for the new millennium.

Love the work on the demoness... the stripy pants are awesome.

@Graven - Yeah, it was still giving me a bit of jip in early December as well, much better now! the fine quality stuff from HeroForge is good, you still get the lines as its printed and not injected, but a very very very fine grit sand paper can take away the harshness, but overall they are really good.

@Gits - Thanks! The pants were a last minute addition after the vest was plain I wanted something a little different and when I looked online I saw a pinstripe suit and though "why not, lets give it a try"

@Gwyn - Thank you squiggles are one of the things that I am apparently known for?

Update: With my back still giving me a little bit of jip meant that painting was still slow, then the new expac for World of Warcraft dropped, then the end of year holidays showed up, and its summer here. So I'm ashamed to say, I got sod all done in Dec and Jan, a few things but nothing to write home about :(

On to the models: Finished up the second Lord of Change for my brothers Demon army

Both Together

I then got side tracked by a chaos dragon repaint for my DnD Game
Primed

First Dry brush

3rd drybrush

Onto the next 5 primaris marines

@Gits - Thanks Gits, I've certainly notice that I've slowed down in the past two years, I am still chugging along but certainly not doing 200+ a year

@Graven - Tell me about it, my paint water never looked so weird

Update: A bit late this month, I managed to get at least two models done, which isn't a lot but still better than zero

Primaris Techmarine
With the armour done moved onto the haft and the parchment

And with that the model is done - well basically, I forgot to take a photo with the grass on

Onto the DnD Model
Skin and some other cloth and leather base coats applied

A bit of focus on the cloak

Washes applied

Picking out the skin and inside of the cloak

And after some refinining the model is done

Onto some more Primaris Lieutenants

Thanks Gwyn appreciate the comment!

Update: A slow month, but a few models done. Upon uploading realised that some of the pictures in my photo gallery became corrupted meaning I lost 3-4 WIP pieces and one final shot for the Lieutenant, so Will take another shot of him and upload next month.

On to the work - Finished up the Judicar

Started and finished a Primaris Lieutenant

Done

- note - Will get a front shot for next month.

Then mid way through the month a work mates asked if I could paint some DnD models for him, of course I said yes

These are currently on the desk and should be done in short order

Oh and stealth edit, My son finished a large bunch of Goblins over the past... 4-5 months (he gets distracted lots)

I like the Judicar holding a daemon head. I have seen lots of variations on what he is holding but that is the first daemon head I have seen.

Thanks for posting your step-by-step shots. It is always good to get insight into how others paint so we can all learn.

The D&D figures turned out nice and flavorful. Did you keep a limited and consistent palette across all of them to tie them together as part of the same party, or did it just turn out that way? It looks like they share a similar color scheme.

Finally, congratulate your son on the goblins for me. As a dad who would love to his kids get more serious about miniature painting, I can appreciate the struggle for them to stay focused on such a slow hobby when video games and YouTube beckon with instant gratification. What game system are you using the ranked goblins for?

Thanks for sharing

@Graven - Agreed, it was a nice change of pace, and something I am looking at when I sit down to paint these primaris models, its gotten so bad I'll do almost anything not to have to edge line a spacemarine again

@Gits - Thanks buddy, you're stomping along with your painting as well, always an inspiration.

@The Riddle of Steel - I'm honored to be the first you've seen with the demon head, perhaps now there will be a rise in people using it as an idea! For the DnD commission for my work mate, I was given a colour list for each character but not a tone or saturation guide, so when they asked for a purple bit here and a red bit there, I could use all the same colours across each model, this kind of ties them together despite being wildly different.

I passed your comments onto my son who was beaming at the praise, and I agree, the struggle with T.V. Youtube and video games is real, he has an addictive personality like me and will quite happily sit and watch/play anything with a screen and one of the major hurdles I face daily is limiting that stimulus. However, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, we've been going on walks after I finish work most nights where I read to him the events of my DnD game in long story format (almost like a little book) and he is enthralled with the story always wanting to go out for a walk to hear more of the tale. I set him a task, paint up the Goblins (Just to paint something) and if he did I would get a 3D print of new DnD character we rolled up for him. Of course having the right motivation helps and he plowed through them so I got a 3d Print and asked if he wanted to paint it, but he asked me to do it, so check out that below.

@IGtR= - Thanks, appreciate the comment!

Update: well I felt quite pleased in the last 30 days, I got some cool things painted! First up is a better picture of the primaris LT

On to the DnD models for my work mate:
The Half Orc

Almost there

And done

The Dwarf

Almost there

And Done

The Human

Amost there

And Done

Keeping on with the DnD theme, in my game, the ranger picked up a new pet within the last two sessions, a Velociraptor - I got a 3d print of one and painted it up for her, she was very stoked

I mentioned that my Son had done well with his Goblins and that I would get him a model, I did, and he asked me to paint it for him. Say hello to Rabin, the wood elf Druid

Layering

Almost there

And Done

I also did some base colours on a Critical Role mini

With those done I started some prep work on my Brother Tyranids, those who have been long time subscribers will remember I did a run for him about 2 years ago, Well I'm doing it again.
I Present to you - Magents!

My fingers were very sore from the pin vise after that.
I then primed

And started on some Gaunts

Now.... Finally... the Dragon.... So I got this 3d Sculpt from my works mate who asked me to paint his DnD models, as I was washing it the base exploded like a banana underneath the rocks, I did some fixing but it's not 100%, but still... I have a dragon!

Primed

Base colours

Dry brushing

Bone and some base

More bone and water effect!

And done

Well, thanks for making me snork my morning coffee there
Nice to hear about your hobby journey with your kid. It can be tricky to involve the small, screen-addicted critters in the hobby - for me it's my middle one, and it's all abut the narrative as well. It's funny thinking about how the last 10+ years of hobby have passed, with Gitsplittagetting ready for a summer of gaming with his kids back from college, and they were 6/9 when I first started following him... weird. Time, like an ever-rolling stream...

Anyway, lovely DnD stuff, and excited to see where the banana dragon ends up (I now have visions of a Dragon that hordes fruit - a fruit Dragon!)
