Hey guys! I'm trying to compile a list for the most durable shooting platforms that the Tau can have. I'd like some insight into things you experienced generals have seen played or tried out yourselves that was a fairly durable unit in this day and age of grav and D spam.

Some of my personal favorites:
Riptide + Stims
Buffcommander (T5 Iridium Armor + 4+ Invul + FNP) + 2 Drones + 3 man Crisis team with 6 Drones. (8 Ablative wound drones!)
Ovesa Riptide + 2 Missile Drones joining a Broadside unit (since she is an IC) making the average toughness T6 until a drone is killed. (This is ridiculous expensive though since you also need Farsight to activate Ovesas HQ slot)
Skyray or Hammerheads with Disruption Pods feel pretty durable
Buffcommander (T5 Iridium Armor + 4+ Invul + FNP) + 3 man Broadside unit with 6 Missile Drones. (6 Ablative Wounds)

What is your guys favorite "durable/tough" unit/ combo in Tau?

You can't join O'vesa with another unit now even though he (or she) is an IC. So that is out of the question but the most durable unit in a Tau army would definitely be either a Farsight Riptide with Stims and an ECPA or Farsight and Shadowsun in a full squad with drones.

I'm pretty sure the rule states that an IC can't join a monstrous creature, but doesn't exclude IC MC from joining squads. Currently too lazy to get out of bed and check...

Even if you could join O'vesa to a broadside unit its not really worth taking her. She has drones attached to her already and those can be problematic from the start. Also why bother putting her in the broadside unit? You can't jump with her using that strategy. Riptides are good because they can duck into cover after moving out and shooting a large blast from their Ion Accelerator or Heavy burst cannon.
