Hey all, just posting the first models I've finished in over two years since I took a break from the hobby. I don't think I lost too many of my skills, but let me know what ya think. I actually found these to be rather difficult to paint, as it was all a giant canvas of skin and most of what I used to do was blocked out armor plates. Individual (and better) pics in the spoiler. One of the things I tried to do was tie them all together with gold weapons, and to keep the basing using all of the same elements. Please let me know if you think it worked out ok, I'm planning on doing similar stuff to my other daemons.

Group shot, had to make sure I could get all of their pretty smiles in the pic.

A more "tabletop" style view. I am really liking my choice to go with all of the different colors, while giving each of them a color "twin."

"Hold on to your butts."

Spoiler:

The leader of the group, he was the first model I completed. Had to repaint him twice, I was so unhappy with my first results haha.

Hated painting those death heads for some reason, love the stomach mouth.

Probably one of my favorites out of the group, I just think he turned out rather nicely.

Love how creepy this dude looks. One of the scarier nurgle dudes.

I liked the way this guys intestines came out. You may notice that it's a different color than some of the other intestines; that's because I painted them all in batches of two and just made up my mixes as I went along.

He looks so happy that he is about to chop you into pieces with his sword, lol.

My least favorite of the group. I dunno, just something about his face puts me off. Not sure if it's the sculpting or my painting...

The new GW kits are very nice, but they are so fragile. Broke off part of this guys horn when I dropped him on the table. Compared to the older versions of the plague bearers, I can kind of see why GW says they are more for collectors. (Although I'm still gonna throw them down on the table, of course!)

So happy with the eyeball on this one.

And we've got to the end. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas for improvement!

There is not this idea.

All very excellent and gross, and it's neat to see all the little details and notes on each one. They've got a lot of personality, these guys. And I like that you went for a wide variety of colors.

Plague Bearers are looking suitably disgusting

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Gorgeous paintjob. I love the models, and your overall color composition is very good. Thank you for sharing.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

The colours are great, very clean yet suitably gross - a fitting tribute to nurgle!

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Dave?

Dave!?!

Holy cow, DAVE!! Its been an age! This is Andrew from the GuardTower in Columbus.

Plaguebearers look great- really like the spectrum of skintones you managed to get.
I do have a suggestion, though- your bronze/gold colors could use a little more depth (mostly looking at that standard bearer). Maybe a wash of brown might get some shadow there? Or even just the lightest of edge highlights with silver- that'd make the colors pop a bit more.
Or, and I know Im throwing a lot of thoughts onto this one little part, maybe some corrosion? Fitting for Nurgle, after all! For gold, maybe just a light touch of a black or brown to give it a pitted sort of look.

Other than that, I cant say I can find much to say other than "Nice work!" Very nice to see you back in the world of the living, at any rate.
Hope to see more of you around here!

Thanks for all the kind words, glad y'all liked 'em.

Hey Andrew! You probably won't see me at the Guard Tower any time soon since I live in NYC now, but I'll be moving back eventually. I'll see if I can find you on FB.

As far as the bronze goes, I think some of that is the lighting. It all has like 4 layers on it, just looks washed out in the pics. I'll keep the other ideas in mind for the future though, these babies are varnished and in the foam until needed again haha.

Thanks,

MegaDave
