I'm touching up a tyranid list and am having troube deciding where to toss my last 50ish points. I'll post the list without the last points then the 2 options I'm looking at for opinions and such.

HQ
Tyrant- wings, 2x devourers

Troop
Termigaunts- 20 man, 20x devourers
Termigaunts- 20 man, 20x devourers

Elite
Zoanthropes- 2 man
Venomthrope- 1 man

Fast
Dimachaeron

Heavy
Mawloc

Formation
Sporefield
Mucolid- 1
Mucolid- 1
Mucolid- 1
Spore mine- 3
Spore mine- 3
Spore mine- 3

The termis, zoeys, and vemon all go in the pods, all the spores infiltrate to provide some area denial to drop pod armies and deep strikers. This list leaves me 55 points, with those points I see two options.

Option 1
Upgrade a Zoey to a neurothrone
Buy 2 single broods of mucolid spores in troops

Option 2
Buy a second venomthrone in the brood to provide a bigger shroud bubble and more wounds.
Buy a cheap upgrade on a tyrant.

Time for opinions!

You're not podding the Dimachaeron?! Out of everything in your list, that's probably the unit that needs it most.

With your last 50 points, you could get Hive Commander on one of your Flyrants and use it to outflank one of the termagant squads. It's not as reliable, but it frees up a pod for the Dimachaeron at little extra cost. I'd also recommend you get Electroshock grubs on both your Flyrants. It gives you a little more flexibility as well as the ability to threaten AV13+ at range. And that's pretty much your 50 points gone.

Option 1, you need 3 zoys to upgrade one to a nero... so thats 75 points (50 for the 3rd and 25 for up)

Option 2, not sure about it...

Maybe I'd go:
+50pts
dropping 1 Tyrannocyte, +75pts
Give Hive commander to one hive tyrant as the above said, -20Pts
Get a Lictor for not scatting those mawlocs -50pts

those wuold be 3 Tyrannocytes, For Dima, 1 Terma brood, venom. (your flyrants would be running through the mat, and can give synapse on the units, plus, until turn 3 they won't need the synapse.

Or

Just buy a Lictor with those 50pts

One terma unit starting on board securing some objective near your DZ (but that would mean a waste of the points on their devourers)

Tyrannocyte with Terma, Dima, Zoan, Venom.

I have to agree on taking a Thorax hive on each Tyrant. That leaves 30...if nothing else put Old Adversary on both. But Hive Commander will likely be more usefull. That would leave 10 points, a couple of gribblies or the like.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER
