Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

Not sure what to think about this. These were two of my favorite shows growing up, and I fear how badly any re-boot/make/imagining of them could be handled. Henry Winkler, exec producer on the original MacGyver is taking the same role on the new one, so that feels like a good sign, but I'm worried that it is described as a re-imagining. I would be happier if it was a sequel series, with the original MacGyver's daughter or son taking the lead role (and, thus, we could still get some classic MacGyver with guest appearances from Richard Dean Anderson, as I can't be the only one that went crazy over the MacGyver Mastercard commercial).
The A--Team could be interesting, if done right (and Cannell's daughter is on the production team). Slightly worried that the team "would include both male and female members" because I fear they would just take the lazy route and make Face a woman who just uses her looks to scam what she wants. If you really want to make it interesting and be atypical, have a female Murdock, instead.
Any thoughts?

There's no way a rebooted MacGuyver will have the same fun and spirit as the original. Get ready for a grimmer, serious-er MacGuyver that has no fun in it to speak of.

Yeah, I think one major reason why MacGyver worked was because of the low-tech nature of the world back then. In today's world of smartphones and computers everywhere, what kind of MacGyverisms would we get now?

That's true as well. Plus the appetite for TV audiences is darker than it was when MacGuyver was in his prime. Audiences are not after a little bit of cheese, a bit of cleverness and a one-liner. They want a heavier story, and while there is nothing wrong with that necessarily, it is not a mold that Mac fits into.

NuMacGyver will also have to have a female parter, probably working for the FBI or CIA. They will start out as enemies and or rivals of some sort, but by the end of the first season it will be clear that they have feelings for each other, but their first kiss won't happen till the season finale of season 2, and hinted at on the Today Show that morning or Jimmy Kimmel the night before.

Or they'll make him gay.

The A-Team movie had its moments, but it never did capture the magic of the TV show.

The problem is, the movie tried to recreate the TV series characters in detail and the actors didn't fit what was done before. The characters should have been altered slightly to better fit the personalities of the actors. I think it would have been a much better movie that way.

That's what happens when your whole idea for the movie/reboot is to mine nostalgia. It becomes about aping what has already been done, not finding what made the original charming and successful.

Both could be, potentially, even better than the originals.
And I say that as someone who watch the originals during their...original runs and loved them.
Sure, they could also be hideous trainwrecks too, but I think they'll turn out OK, with the odds nf McGyver being a better rebooted show than the A-Team.
As for MacGyver not being relevant/capable/plausibile in today's world of smartphones and computers?
Did you guys actually...watch MacGyver?

I think the A-team movie was fun. I mean it had them using a tank in freefall! I am less sure if a rebooted show will do the job.
As for MacGuyver, can a new series survive the "McGroober" effect?

Yes, watched it, loved it, rewatched it, loved it. I'm just afraid they'll take the lazy route and make the new MacGyver just a glorified hacker. Instead of his trusty Swiss Army Knife, he'll instead use his Apple™ iPhone™ and/or iPad™ iProminently in iEvery iEpisode to iSolve all the iProblems...

Could that not be true of every movie?
Also, Never Underestimate Nostalgia, Its a powerful thing.
It takes you back to a time when you thought things where better, when you had less responsibilities. I LOVE the Star Wars Prequels. Cause I was around 8-15 when they came out. So I have memories of me and my friends reenacting scenes from it. Which IS why im afraid the new trilogy might not hold up for me, cause im afraid it might not hold up to my childhood.

I want to see the A-Team vs. MacGyver.
MacGyver locks the A-Team in a shed full of welding equipment and junked out cars. They bust out in some sort of makeshift armored car and then MacGyver blows them up with a paperclip , rubber band and pen.

MacGyver Meh. Never watched it back then. I only really know about it from Simpsons references.
People didn't like the A-Team movie?
Everyone that thinks like that needs to put their faces next to their screens so I can roundhouse kick you all at the same time! I found it immensely enjoyable and happily watch it whenever it's on tv here (which is quite often).
I want an Equaliser remake with an old time Londoner laying some Old World violence on random street punks wh don't see it coming from an old feller, like Sean Pertwee in Gotham but every week for 22 weeks. Now that would make good TV.

...er, yeah.
Sure.
As for MacGyver, I don't think they'll focus only on 'hacking' and 'L33T' computer iSkills.
I'm pretty sure they'll still focus mostly on building something amazing out of whatever random materials are around.
And chewing gum, of course.

To be fair, and I say this as someone who also feels very nostalgic about the original shows, but they were pretty awful. MacGyver is so bad it's practically a comedy, and the A-Team was rather repetitive.
