Hey guys, I've got a question for you all.

I have this old pot of GW Varnish from back in the day.  It has the old screw off cap, that's how old it is.  I've had it for a long time, and never opened it.  I just opened it now, and it's still completely fresh and not dried out.  It's white, but I assume it will dry clear?

I was wondering, I have some Flames of War guys that I just varnished last weekend.  I used a coat of Testors Glosscote for protection, and then hit them with a coat of Testors Dullcote to take off the shine.  The Testors stuff is great.

However, I think I didn't quite get them good enough with the Dullcote, because while the miniatures are now mostly un-shiny, on a few of them, the bases still have a little bit of shine on the edge.

I'm just wondering if it would be alright to just brush on some of this old GW Varnish on the sides of the bases to take the shine off, or if I'm better off just giving them another spray coat of Dullcote.

I'm assuming that the GW brush on varnish is matte, but I'm not really sure since it only says Varnish.  I will definately test this on something before I put it on my lovingly painted Panzergrenadiers though.

So what's the verdict?  Paint on a thin coat of GW Varnish, or hit it with Dullcote again?

Thanks,

Hordini

The one (and only) time I used GW varnish (I don't believe they produce more than 1 varnish), it was SUUUUUUUUUUUUUPER glossy.

You have been warned.
