I nabbed a copy of Imperial Armour 2 (second edition) for rules on the Fellblade. The choices for sponson options puzzled me. One could replace the default quad lascannon sponsons with laser destroyers. However, the only difference I see between the two weapons (according to the IA2 appendix) is that the destroyer has 12" shorter range, and is Ordnance 1 rather than Heavy 1; S, AP, and other qualities are unchanged. Why would anyone ever take the destroyers if this were the case? Is there a typo?

I would assume it's because Ordinance lets one roll 2 dice for armor penetration and take the highest. I would still take quad lascannon sponsons though.

Ah, I didn't see anything alluding to that in the Ordnance listing in the 7e BRB.

Now, I could be wrong. It's just that that was what ordinance did last time I checked. I usually don't bother with it anymore cuz it forces the rest of the weapons to snap-shoot. I would recommend looking it over.

Page 41. Yeah, you roll two dice and pick the highest for Ordnance. So I mean, it's twin linked to hit, twin linked equivalent to 'wound' armor. It's useful, but I'd also take the multiple shots for Las than a single more consistent shot.
