Hi all,
A mate and I picked up the icestorm book and played through the basic missions. Just picking up some more models so we can start having so more involved games and was wondering if the following is at all viable.

I'll be mostly playing against my mate using Nomads and another friend who's picking up Yu Jing.

I've got the Icestorm models and have chosen this list as I like the other models in it and it seems at least semi viable, I really want a TAG but feel learning the game first is likely a good idea.

(love the army builder :-))

I'm thinking the Swiss guard and Knight can advance on the enemy using their abilities to protect them whilst the nisses guard against the enemy approaching.
The Orc seems like an ok backfield Lt and I have the model, the Doc seems like a must take.
I took the Kamau as I fancied a hacker and like the model, its high BTS seemed like it would be useful but after reading more into the rules I'm not sure if this is the case. Are hackers a good pick for a panO force, if so which are the best?
The fusiliers are just there to generate orders.

Thanks for any feedback or help.

List looks good, the one thing you will get a comment on is that you are low on specialist. Especially if you don't have a TAG you should
have the points to add more.

The ORC model is very similar to the Aquila Guard and about same size. I would use it as one or the other. The AG has MSV3 which will help with camo and TO.

I love the Nisse. Multi Sniper is awesome.
a combi rifle on him is so-so
bagh mari could be a good fit and cheaper with good options. then you can add more Pal bots or whatever you want.

Pan O don't make the best hackers due to the low WIP. One of the popular hacker builds is a father knight hacker.
You don't have much that is hackable, your HI are but not very many on the board.

Thanks for the reply,
what would you suggest as good additional specialists to add to the list, and is it generally advised to go above 10 models as you then have to split them into groups and take less advantage of multiple orders, Is there a 'sweet spot' in size of groups.

Thanks for any help.

If you're planning on playing in official tournaments, or using the scenarios from them in casual games, then don't worry about specialists.

A few points:

An ORC with a multirifle isn't that great as a backfield Lt. as his weapon doesn't give him the range to threaten anybody that isn't rushing your DZ.

I don't mind the idea of a Nisse combi, in theory they're a good unit to lock down a small area on suppression fire as enemy will be -9 to hit them if they're in cover. In practice though, the Nisse is an excellent combat platform that should be given longer ranged weapons to mitigate their lower move.

I never bother with doctors or palbots as PanO. 9 times out of 10 the guy you want to heal has gone down in a dangerous area. Do you think it's a good idea to spend a load of orders running something/someone else into the same zone? It's not even like you're guaranteed to make the heal roll.

Having good BTS on a hacker isn't the worst idea, but if it's the only reason you're going for that profile, then I wouldn't spend the points.

10 orders is fine for PanO. If you go to something like 11-12 then you need to ensure you have one or two models that aren't really worried about using orders - snipers who won't need to move, hackers that are only going to call supportware, Total Reaction REMs etc.

One weakness in your list that I see is an ability to open up a second front (unless you get really, really lucky with the way your opponent moves away from the Swiss). All your stuff is deploying in your DZ, and is going to have to move forward to start engaging. If you get stuck (snipers, scary things on suppression that you can't get a long range shot on) then the dice are going to start going against you very quickly. Having an AD trooper walk on near their DZ, or a TO infiltrator (Croc Man, Military Orders sergeant) able to suddenly appear on the halfway line, next to - or hopefully behind - an attacking enemy, can suddenly check an opponent's advance as they're forced to fight in multiple directions.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”
