Well it's finally Christmas Eve and the work/ school breaks (if you are fortunate enough to receive them) should be upon us! I myself typically work weekends, but I didn't volunteer for Christmas Day and took the 26th off, so I don't go back to work until Sunday. The miss is headed out of town on Wednesday, so I will have some time to myself this coming week!

So I want to know what hobby things you are doing this break!

I've got a small checklist:

1) Paint my first Blood Raven tactical squad
2) post photos in the showcase
3) assemble the remainder of the small Blood Raven strike squad I have (6 Sniper Scouts, 3 Centurions, 1 Librarian)
4) get the above at lease primed

It's ambitious for me, but I want to play with these guys next Friday, so it's Go-Time!

What about the rest of my DakkaDakka Family?

And whatever you choose to celebrate (or not celebrate!) this holiday season, make it a merry one!

- Paint 2 squadrons for X-wing (1 done, and the other should be dead simple)
- Finish the Court of Owls for the Batman Miniatures Game
- Paint up a pair of Nomad Gecko TAGs for a fellow Dakka user
- Get plenty of X-wing/Batman games in, maybe some 40/30k too

Also catch up on a whole bunch of TV, comics, video games and films I've not been able to look at at uni...

That's a strong dose of nostalgia right there! I'm building a small Ultramarines Tyrannic War Veterans strike force and I'm contemplating doing the bases in GGreen just for the funsies!

I've already started mine. And I'm hoping to get a good chunk of it done, and out of the way over Xmas

For warmachine:
10x Mage hunter strike force. Done.
1x soulless escort. Done.
1x garyth. Done.
1x ravyn. In progress - just gotta convert hellebore.
1x epic vyros. In progress.
1x banshee. Done.
1x griffon. In progress.
1x orin midwinter.

This represents almost the entirely of my warmachine collection that is waiting on the to-do list. Getting the retribution bits completes everything I have of them.

For wrath of kings, I've completed my three skorza models. There's some more to do, but they're on the back burner for now.

For my hail Caesar project (painting Romans for a friend), I've got 36 legionnaires, a trumpeter, a standard bearer and an optio to do. They're next on the list.

For my sci-fi home brew, I have about 40 old metal Chadian kasrkin I've bought second hand off of eBay to paint. Long term project. But I would feel a sense of accomplishment if I get any of them sorted.

For infinity, I have my usariadna starter, 2 spetsnaz, 2 zu yong invincible sand 2 hac Taos to paint up. They're after my Romans.

And that is my 'lead mountain'. And now that I have it written down, it doesn't seem so bad!

I've got a few things to do:

- Finished up some AoS Bloodbound heroes (I've already started).
- Painted up a Bushido starter.
- Finish the rest of my Japanese themed terrain. I have 3 buildings left.
- I doubt I'll get around to it but I'd like to get some more Tyranids painted. I only painted one this year .

My Pig Faced Orcs nor my Blood Berets board game have come yet, so I've little painting to do outside the old D&D minis so after I painted that Space Vampire, I went back to the very non wargaming related coming of age novel/diary thing I've been writing since November.

My "holiday break" consists of Friday off for a 3-day weekend. Of course, Mom is in town, so I have to spend time with here. Other than that, I'm working on my three massive bridges for 40k. three separate 4' bridges, each in a different style. I'm doing a suspension bridge, a trestle bridge, and a basic traffic bridge of no standardized style...

Seriously. These things are massive.

One of the bridges, the "main one," I suppose, is the massive suspension bridge. On the roadway itself, you could probably play a small 40k game... lol
It's 4 feet long by twenty-eight inches wide... or so.

Trying to finish off my Skitarii Rangers squad. Seriously, those have to be the most blinged troops choice in all of 40k. I've seen characters with less detail.

I'd love to finish the two DKK tanks I've undercoated too, but I always over-estimate how much actual modelling time I'm going to get.

Lastly, at least one game of our ongoing 40k campaign - fingers crossed!

I'm going through major hobby withdrawl. So much family stuff!

I thought I could squeeze in one outrider; didn't even have a chance to finish take the plastic pieces off the sprue hahahaha

Dakka has been my hobby hit for the xmas season

I'm back at work tomorrow, and when I look at what I've done over the last two weeks or so, I'm actually quite impressed. Despite Xmas, and parents visiting, and Mrs.deadnights parents/family commitments, and various other friends and life stuff, (and one day of work!), I got through a mountain of stuff. I'm quite happy. Normally I'm a 'well I'll work on this model' kinda guy, and will take my time, and do bits and pieces over a few days or weeks. Slow progress. But I knuckled down over Xmas and got through the following:

40 Roman legionnaires (hail Caesar)
3 skorza (wrath of kings)
12 gw kasrkin with hellguns, 3 kasrkin sergeants, meltagunner, plasmagunner, flamer dude and grenade launcher dude for a sci fi project.
A squad of Mage hunter strike force, plus commander, a soulless escort, ravyn, garryth, banshee, griffon, orin midwinter, all for warmachine.

So that's 79 models in total, and that's a huge pile of my lead mountain dealt with.

What's left on my lead mountain? Or is it a 'hill' at this point now that I've mined the core out of it.
28 gw kasrkin with hellguns, 4 kasrkin sergeants, four grenade launcher dudes and four flamer dudes for my sci fi project.
2 spetsnaz, 2 hactau, 2 zu yong invincibles, my usariadna starter for infinity. Next up on my to-do list I think. I've not painted any infinity stuff in ages.
Epic vyros (to complete painting).

Yeah, all things said and done, I'm pretty happy with my progress.

Cheers!
