Hi guys!

I want to share with you my current project so that you can suggest me improvements along the way.
Following the orkish rule that the biggest you are the more dakka you can bring with you, my basic idea was to make a fat ork. I browsed a lot of bits and finally stumbled upon the river troll bodies. I haven't found any conversion of orks with this bit so I wasn't sure about the size comparison, but I guessed that it was fairly the size of an ogre body. So I purchased an ork heas and ogre legs and arms. Unfortunately they resulted to be far too small with respect to the troll body so the only choice was to... sculpt them!
So far I have only sculpted few and small things, sure it surely is a big challenge for me.
This is the sketch design and the very first sculpt of the body mass. The troll had a lot of scales and some fur so the main thing here was to smooth it with files, sandpaper and some patches. As you can see the arms still need to be designed, also for this I will need your help.

More updates soon!

Looks like a good start! I think you've got good proportions on the legs, for a fat ork.

What's the white stuff you're using?

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

I really like the concept, and the sketch is great. I actually really want to see what you make of this. It looks like a good start and I'm looking forward to your promised update.

... And I may just try to do one of my own if yours ends up looking as good as I hope it will be.

'Cuz why just 'ave the biggest Boyz with the bestest Dakka when you can 'ave the biggest belly too?

Quite an interesting idea and project.
How would an Ork even go about becoming fat?

Ork exercise is fighting, and an ork who doesn't fight, dies.

So you're probably right about the cola

I had a similar initial quandary about the "fat Ork", since they are built to fight, built to pile on muscle, and I'd imagine their metabolism would be "like a steam locomotive's furnace"-insatiable, but I suppose I could see it; maybe their on a planet where there's little else to fight, but they haven't reached "let's build a ship, and go bother the neighbors" phase, yet. They could fight each other, but maybe his turn just isn't rolling around, as they go. Otherwise, I can imagine the Orky genetics just flying all over the place, to acclimatize to environments, or just based on how quickly they can breed. Perhaps it's an aberrant mutation, and we'll see if it survives/breeds true, or maybe even Nurgle has done a little something to him, and no one's noticed yet (not sure if Nurgle CAN make Orks sick).

Blah, blah, blah, I actually rather like this idea, and hope you'll post some more WIP pics, as you go; I'm a big fan of customizations, especially when people better than me do cool stuff. Best of luck with it.

Well I'm busy painting a runtherd, and he's got a bit of a belly on him. You should post a pic with another ork, maybe a nob next to your wip so we can see the size difference.

Is it wrong that the fluff bit I want to nitpick most is that Nurgle/sickness = fat?

Your reception is simply... GREAT! Thank you for your cheering!

The white stuff I used is Magic Sculp. It cures harder than GS so it is easier to file and sand, so I use it for when I have to do smooth or geometrical surfaces.
Also it is cheaper with respect to the quantity you can buy, so I use it for making the bulk of the sculpt.
On the contrary, when it is not cured yet, MS is a bit too soft for my tastes, similarly to milliput, so for the details I prefer green stuff.

Concerning the fluffy part I actually didn't think of an inconsistency with a fat ork, I simply liked the idea . However, as KINGPIN54 pointed out, the runtherd is actually fat.
We can imagine any sort of reasons that many of you already stated: too much and too bad drinks, gas-producing mushrooms, Nurgle influence mutations or simply too much food. In WHFB there was Grom the Paunch who ate troll meat and who was famously fat! Any of these reasons is actually a great improver for this guy's background!

Hi again!
Here is the first update. What you see is the upper jaw. I am pretty happy with the eye. I'd like to make a careless/bored/self confident expression.

Looking good. Can't wait to see the whole head sculpt finished. Keep up the good work on ol' fatty over there!

Also can't wait for the arms and the rest of it's body to be done!

Just a thought, but try put the tooth on the other side... Unless you have something else planned for the left side, but looking great thus far.

Yeah, double-chin for him!
For the left side of his mouth I have plannet a cigar, so I'd prefer keep that side free from teeth. Thank you for the advice btw!
I'll show you the result very soon.

Ok here it is!
The head is more or less finished. The tooth is not very visible but it's there. I added the lens to the bionic eye and a scar to justify it. The earring is not visible from here but there is one too.
There is also a first attempt at the arm's volume. However this frontal position of the arm would cover the body too much, so it will be more opened to the side.

Looking very nice, once again. I'm liking the cigar sculpt, perhaps another angle to show off the other details a bit more?

Looking forward to seeing the arms being sculpted out.

That's not half bad! Especially if you've only sculpted little bits and pieces before. Great expression.

Ah! I assume it's the coloured stuff, rather than the beige standard?

Mind if I ask a question? I've used magic sculp, along with similar putty like apoxie sculpt, cold clay, and asculpt. Among those, the uncoloured stuff stays good for years, even if it turns a bit yellow. But I've recently noticed the coloured part of the coloured versions turning hard on the surface, over time, as if it's starting to cure by itself. If you have the specifically white coloured magic sculp, have you noticed any crust or grittiness? How long have you had it?

yeah, I'll be careful to make it stand out as I paint it, thanks.

I don't know the coloured stuff, I think this is the standard type. Of the two components one is whitish and sticky, the other grey and harder. The latter has developed a yellowish crust after one year or so, but It does not seem to influence the final result, so far.

Hi, these are the legs (not finished though).
I'm not happy with the right leg, I should take lateral photos to show you what's wrong with it.

I see.

Fortunately, like digital sculpting, putty sculpting has it's own handy 'undo':

Spoiler:

Looking good, otherwise. The cloth wrinkles are well done.

Thank you everybody!
Here is a question for you.
I'd like to make a scenic base for him with a writing on the socket. I'm looking for a smart orkish catch phrase (maybe something dealing with the fact that the bigger you are the more dakka you can bring). Another possibility is to write his name. So far I've thought about RAMBOrk. If so I will have to make a bandana, military pants and maybe mimetic on his body too.
I'm unsure whether to make him a loin cloth. It whould be a great place for freehands but I still have to decide.
Suggestions?
