Hey all,
Having some difficulty finding a company that supplies a decent collapsible table, like the kind you would get at a catering event or similiar. 6 x 4 would be great but 8 x 4 even better! Lightwight also a bonus but the main thing would be the height. Really needs to be a decent height as well as I am 6"3' and ALWAYS have to use surfaces design for average height people.
Has anyone else had any experiences getting their own and can recommend?
Not much room in my flat and really need a place to play!
Cheers!

I've never had any luck finding such a table, us wargamers seem to want a very odd size. If you're willing to do a little work though, you can just buy a relatively cheap table in 6'x30" (the most common size), and take the frame off the table. Then just attach it to some custom cut fiberboard or plywood and you're done. They're ussually quite easy to disassemble and reassemble, just make sure you use the right length of screws so you don't go through the table top, but maintain as much depth as possible into the wood.

GW used to have some sturdy wood tables in their battle bunkers but nobody seems to know who they ordered them from.

Costco does fold up tables that are pretty sturdy. I think they were about 6x3' though so you'd need to add a table top to them, but without going custom made you'll struggle finding a 6x4.

The Costco tables I think are 72" x 30", or thereabouts; 2 works pretty well (it gives you a lip). However, the current ones over here also fold down the center, which gives you an additional bump.
Staples and other places have the same sort of resin tables that are a single piece and 72x30.
One other alternative is to simply place a 6x4 (or slightly larger) sheet of plywood, or two 3x4 sheets of plywood on top of the folding table, like the Costco one, which is easy to transport.
A disadvantage of a 6x4 is that a lot of cars can't hold a 48" wide table without it being on an angle -- and then that decreases the amount of space you have for other stuff.

They're easy to find here, though usually referred to as trestles, big, sturdy, lightweight and cheap.

What I used to get the table was 2 Wall paper tables from B&Q, the ones I bought had 3 sets of legs which makes them very sturdy and they fold away and can be stored no problem.
Once set up all you have to do is place a mat of some description over the top and you are ready to go ! ( i made my own mat, there are some great tutorials online )

*Edit*
Never mind, I found the ones I bought ! £15 a pop £30 for a full table, can't go wrong for that price

A quick scout around finds a 6 x 2.6 one here.

Frankly, your best bet is to buy two 6x2 foot ones, and shove them together to make a 6x4 table.

Slap something from Gamemat over the top, and you won't even notice the difference, assuming you have a level floor.

If its trestle/fold down type tables, I like these;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/6ft-Folding-Table-Rectangular-Handle/dp/B008YFCAFQ
They're robust plastic, fold in half and have nice sturdy metal legs. Put a sheet of 6'/8' x 4' ply on top and you're rocking.
Credit to the Overlords Wargames Club where I saw these first.

I use two of these...

Cheap as chips solid as a rock as I clamp the tables together on the underside and make a great 6x4

I use 4x2 ft fold-up tables, and I own three. Handy and flexible for the gaming room - put up one for a paining table or for boardgames, two gives a 4x4 ft gaming space, three gives 6x4 ft. They fold up into a 2x2 ft area, 10 inches deep. Very sturdy, I've had them for about 4 years and I expect them to last forever, more or less. No worries leaning on them or putting heavy storage boxes on top. Bought them on eBay - a search for folding tables should do the trick, and I paid £25 for each one. Very similar to the ones notprop suggested, but I like the flexibility of the smaller tables.

Folding Ping Pong table.
It actually ends up being bigger than you might need - but I like having the extra space.
