I'm aiming to do a fluffy Salamanders army as my intro to 30k. So far i haven't bought much (BaC, 5 Firedrakes and a Deimos Rhino). But as customs for ordering forgeworld to Norway are really expensive I would like to make sure I don't buy too much stuff that i won't really need later on. That's why I have now tried to make a 2500pts list as a shopping list of sorts, but I would really appreciate some advice from some more experienced 30k players as to if I am missing something crucial. I want it to be kind of infantry heavy, but I still need transports I guess.

Rite of War: Covenant of Fire

HQ
- Legion Praetor w/ Cataphracti Terminator Armour, Combi Weapon, Power Fist, Mantle of the Elder Drake, Mastercrafted Weapon. (Basically the BaC Praetor with the chainfist exchanged for a power fist)
- Legion Centurion as a Primus Medicae w/ Artificer Armour, Combi Weapon, Power Sword, Mastercrafted Weapon

Troops
- 20x Legion Tactical Squad w/ additional combat blade and Sergeant with Melta Bombs and a Combi Weapon
-.10x Legion Tactical Squad w/ additional combat blade in a Rhino
-.10x Legion Tactical Squad w/ additional combat blade in a Rhino

Elites
- 5 Firedrake Terminator Squad w/ 5x Thunder Hammers and 5x Dragonscale Storm Shields
- They will be riding in a Legion Spartan Assault Tank w/ Armoured Ceramite, Auxiliary Drive, Flare Shield, Dozer Blade and hull-mounted Twin-Linked Heavy Flamer

Heavy Support
- Legion Sicaran Battle Tank w/ Lascannon sponsons
- Legion Sicaran Battle Tank w/ Lascannon sponsons

Lord of War
- Vulkan

Vulkan, Praetor and Firedrakes ride in the Spartan as a death star of course. Not sure if I want the Primus Medicae with them or with the 20-man footslogging blob yet. The two Rhino squads are for distracting, flanking or grabbing objectives. Sicarans are there for anti-tank, even though I know that there are better anti-tank, I still can see these guys glancing land raiders with Rending, and thats also why I gave them the lascannons, and I like their versatility over some more dedicated anti-tank.

This comes to a total of 2497 pts,

you don't really NEED transports. I play Death Guard, and with a few well placed Apothecaries (fluffy for every legion) 20-man tac squads are stupidly tough. Seeing that Salamanders are basically Death Guard - Chem + forges and stuff, try building a list without 10-man tac. squads in rhinos, maybe take a heavy support squad or tactical support squad of flamers, regular dreadnoughts can take flamestorm cannons. As a whole: I personally think Sicarans are over rated and are better against 40k armies rather then other marines. One of my personal favorite AT options are a mix of rapiers and a legion artillery squad.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
