Interesting. I have a Warhammer store about 45 mins from me, but the only two stores hosting this are 2hr drive and a 4 hr drive.

After seeing what GW is giving them for the cash I am shocked one store close to me is doing it. Now will I join in unlikely as they charge for their events and with the price GW is charging they can't afford to add prize support unless it's stuff that dose not move.

What is it though? My store was listed and when I checked their event calender, nothing about this was on there

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Sounds like a great opportunity to promote whatever will have that shelf space when the prize support gets dumped on the winner.

What cash? The event sounds interesting but there wasn't really any information about what the event is.

Welp, one of my local stores is doing this. Wonder if I can fit my LR Redeemer in a 750 list...

Color me surprised: would be nice to see something akin to the old Summer Battle Tours making a comeback. What I kinda want to see is a story behind the event, though. GW has the resources to do something more significant than just a mega-battle where people just bring their stompiest (read: priciest) models and bash them into each other in the middle of the table for no apparent purpose.

What an obnoxiously inconvenient listing of venues.

The stores have to pay GW $1000 or $500 (depending on the pack) to run this event. Said payment gets them an additional discount on tank kits IIRC.

My FLGS is not listed. No surprise considering they mostly play other games. Dust is popular. While our 40k community is big they aren't the type to be drawn in by this since they use the ITC and play more competitvely.

Where is this info coming from?

Shockingly one of my FLGS is listed, so I may well participate. Do we know what the event entails? None of the armies I play even have tank options. :-p

So this is what my flgs owner was talking about. The way he was explaining it was that he could get a package for about $1000 that was a bunch of tanks that would save him like $200 off.of what he would normally pay but it was a fixed list and included a lot of models that don't move very fast locally so he decided.against it.

I guess if a given owner thinks he/she can move the product, then it's a good deal and a chance to have a sponsored, in-store event. But it still strikes me as a bit odd. A sponsored event should be a reward for a retailer who maintains a large account, not another opportunity to milk the cow. I'll have to ask around and see if retailers are getting anything additional out of the deal in the way of prize support.

I think this is kind of a dumb question, but will GW stores be running these events too?

It hurts stores that keep stocked up as unless you need $5000 retaile in tanks you lose out even on the $500 kit that's a lot of tanks

Seriously? Not a SINGLE one in Western Australia? For the 40K community we have here?

Nice try, GW. But a miss is as good as a mile.

My store is on the list. It's two miles from my home. I'll probably check it out.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

How in the feth is there not a single location in the most populated city in Australia?!? GW stores better be included in this, because if they aren't the closest one to Sydney is 2 and a half hours drive away at least, and that's just stupid

because many stores don't want to buy $1000 in Vehicles?

I don't get this, so help me out if you can.Where's the details and ad banners?
Won't this just help the GW stores loose more custom to FLGS from the people who are unaware of them?
I'm generally confused.

Somewhere in south-central England.

It is rather surprising that none of the Games Workshop shops are running it. I've got four GWs within easy reach and the only FLGS isn't on the list.

Perhaps it is deliberately restricted to Indies as a kind of olive branch. I mean, perhaps GW are trying to rebuild the relationship they spent the past eight years destroying. (Nearly everything they are doing now seems to be a reversion to the policy of the early to mid-2000s.)

Still, as a Tyranid player I suppose I am not wanted anyway.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

In AUS that's only like three or four Leman Russes' though,

Wow, surprisingly my local FLGS is participating (that's a wonder in this wasteland known as Mississippi).

What the heck is this event actually? Tanks and planes are my favorite models but is this supposed to be like a vehicle/mech only game? What about Tyranid players - are they just to be left out in the cold?

It never ends well
