Subject: The definitive Joker to Return in The Killing Joke?
ew sounds are as simultaneously delightful and terrifying as Mark Hamill’s cackle in the role of the Joker. Hamill has voiced the iconic Batman villain’s animated likeness many times—including in Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and Batman Beyond. Now, Hamill has reunited with Animated Series alum Kevin Conroy, who has a similarly long track record voicing Batman, for a new adaptation of The Killing Joke, Alan Moore’s one-shot comic and one of the most acclaimed and influential Batman stories of all time. (It influenced, among other things, another of the most iconic portrayals of the Joker: Heath Ledger’s in The Dark Knight.)
The teaser is, like most teasers, short and sweet, but it gives us the gist of what we should expect: The Joker has been in custody at Arkham for two years, is as unhinged as ever, and is now running free. And of course, the teaser gives us what we all await whenever Hamill brings his voice to the Joker: a good, long listen to Hamill’s deranged laughter. The long-awaited adaptation is due out this summer.
Well, well, well.... what do you think of that, aye bucko?

Absolutely cannot wait for this! Hamill is The Joker, Conroy is Batman, the story is such an iconic one (and at last, we get something with Batgirl in!) and DC's animated output has been on fine form recently between their last few Batman, Justice League and Suicide Squad movies...
Really enjoyed last month's Batman: Bad Blood, but I have a feeling this will blow it away!

Fantastic news. Whenever a friend or family member asks what Mark Hamill has done since Star Wars, B:TAS is my go-to explanation. It's interesting how few people seem to realize it was him.

All the recent DC animated movies have been around 75 minutes, give or take, I imagine this'll be the same. I've read there will be a prologue-esque segment to set up and introduce Batgirl/Barbara before... well, you know, that bit which I won't spoiler in case anyone's not familiar, that should fill up some time (and as a big fan of BG, I look forward to it a lot!)

The big question is still if this will be rated R. I certainly hope so. It needs that dark rating. PG 13 just won't do for this one, I'm afraid. Anything less is insulting to the source material.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

He is the definitive Joker voice actor. As for live action, I loved Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson, but Hamill's voice will always be the Joker to me.

His voice work really has been outstanding, I really enjoyed him as Fire Lord Ozai in Avatar. But he really has been in a ton of shows and movies throughout the years.
As for "real" movies, it took me a while to recognize him in Kingsmen.

Batgirl was teased at the end of Batman Bad Blood, for those who haven't seen it yet. I completely forgot while watching it though this was coming. Love Hamill as Joker. That laugh is unparalleled.

Yeah, I liked that, I hope she features more in the next one. But then, I also hope that
Spoiler:
now we have a proper Bat-family pretty much established in the N52-ish continuity films, the next Batman in that universe will be at least loosely based on the Death of the Family stuff, with Mister J going after each in turn...

I think there's going to be two films or something, isn't there?
I've not watched the preview because daily motion doesn't like my computers. But I think the idea is doing a Batgirl panel film and then killing Joke on the same disk.

BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Officially Rated R; Don't Expect A PG-13 Version For Your Kids
It's been rumoured for a while, but Entertainment Weekly confirms that animated movie Batman: The Killing Joke will indeed be R-Rated when it hits DVD and Blu-ray later this year. That makes it only the second DC Comics adaptation to receive this rating (the first was the home video release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill set to voice Batman and The Joker respectively, there's a lot for fans to look forward to when this take on the classic comic hits stores.
"From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story — regardless of the eventual MPAA rating," Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation & Warner Digital Series tells the site. "The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for its blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience — the comics-loving community — with an animated film that authentically represented the tale they know all too well." They mention that there are no plans in place for a PG-13 version, so this is one cartoon you won't share with your kids!
Batman: The Killing Joke premieres at the San Diego Comic-Con in July, so stay tuned for updates!

And Wing Commander!
And The Flash(both the short-lived series in the 1990s AND the current TV show), both times playing The Trickster.

Well that's good news. Honestly that comic is pretty dark and brutal. Anything less than R would be cutting out bits and toning it down

He was also Fire Lord Ozai (sp?) in Avatar (animated, not that pos movie by Shyamalan)
Agreed. Hell I didn't even know that was him until I joined Dakka. Talk about mind blown! I went to YouTube just to make sure someone wasnt pulling my leg and found a video of him doing just what you said. He's one hell of a talented actor, underrated for sure

As was Troy Baker in Arkham Origins and Assault On Arkham. Very much 'just' channelling Hamill, but he did that damn well.
The only bad Joker I've seen/heard was Brent Spiner in one episode of the (awesome) Young Justice series... he's a good actor, but that performance was painful!

The guy who voices Joker in The Batman cartoon actually does a pretty awesome job too. There were multiple times I thought "is that Hamill??" while watching it. But animated, Hamill is still top dog, followed by Di Maggio.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Agreed. Loved the show (and that episode in general) just didn't like that Joker.

I believe that was Kevin Micheal Richardson doing the voice. Very talented guy.
Personally I can't wait for this. Couple of buddies of mine are pretty psyched too

Emerson's was a very different Joker though. If anything he was more frightening. He was certainly more murderous...
Gonna say, that Joker had already killed about 600 people(that they knew of) plus another 300 or so when he escapes in part 2. If that was a real life killer, I'm pretty sure he'd be given an expedited death penalty, not locked up in Arkham.
