I just painted my first Emperor's Children Legionary.
This is a paint scheme test.
I'm very happy with it, but what do you think about it ?
For the base, I don't know what to do.
Maye urban, or "Space Hulk" like.

As it's a 'test' piece I would like to say first I think you need to thin your paints just a little more for a smoother finish. I would also thin the purple ink wash I assume you used and do 2 layers so you can get a graduated shade over the silver base. I would also paint the gold sholder studs black first then dot on the gold so each bolt gets a fine black outline to it. Lastly I would drill the barrel of the gun.
I only say this as looking at the pictures, I reckon it's well within your skill set. IE - great start & I look for to seeing your army grow!

Unfortunately, I can't drill the barrel of the gun for the moment: I have no more drill !

Where do you think the paint isn't thin enough ? On the gun ?
For the wash, I used Druchii Purple, 5 layers on a Leadbelcher basecoat.

I'll try to thin my paints a little more on my next minis, so !

Very nice, though like the tank the amount of white may be a touch overpowering, unless that is just the elites/veterans scheme and the rest will be purple?

This is the basic infantry paint scheme, I think painting just the pauldron white is ok.

Do you think there is too much white ? The sergeant as some white on his helmet, is this why you think it is too much ?

No, the sergeant is ok, and the white in general is ok too -

As I mentioned in your tank thread, there is only an issue if you want your Emperors children to 'stick to the fluff' and be easily recognizeable. The scheme is fine and it works, and there are some EC in the FW books that have white pads (veterans I think). However, at a glance, due to the muted violet purple (as opposed to one more saturated and edging into magenta bias) you have a darker than usual purple, combined with the super white of the pads, this makes the scheme look quite different than standard. Which is perfectly ok, if that is your aim. If you want people to look and know instantly they are emperors children, then I would remove a lot of the white as it dominates the entire scheme.

I know because it is a long explanation it may sound like criticism but I really want to emphasize it is not, the tank in particular was very nice. It is more of an observation that may or may not matter to you you know what I mean?

Maybe you are speaking about the AWAKEN REALMS's EC tank thread ? They have a lot of white^^

Ok, I did one following your advice, and it is indeed better.
I'll paint my marines with this paint scheme, keeping the two pauldron white scheme for the sergeants.

Wouldn't an urban base be too dark ? As the mini is pretty dark with this dark purple.

do much prefer the starker, white pauldrons for officers imo just because it sets them off so much

Idk for a base tbh =/ I used urban ruins bases on my Luna Wolves, but they're quite light so how dark the base was didn't matter, really

I guess find something you want to use that speaks to you about the origins of the particular group you're doing, and try to incorporate that. After all there were more worlds out there, than simply urban ones, that the SMs all were on =) Actually, thinking about it a bit, it might not be right for you, but colour wise, if you were to put them on a grassy, or green planet, it could complement them well. Since purple & green look really nice together.

Anyway just some thoughts!
