Hello there Dakka readers and welcome to my project log!

I've been working on this warhammer and miniature painting hobby throughout the years. I've had some project logs up at warseer the past and decided it was about time I made one here. I have quite a lot of different armies and miniatures. Most of them are Warhammer Fantasy, but there are a few Inquisitor 28 warbands thrown in that form a little pet project for me. If you'd like to see most of what I painted in the past, you're more than welcome to visit my blog/gallery at angiesarmies.wordpress.com

For today, I'd like to show you my recent Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord on Disc. He was painted for a monthly painting competition of my local Games Workshop. The theme was 'fire' and he ended up being the winning piece!

Wow, I really like the fire on the sorcerer. I have tried for that effect several times, but have yet to pull it off successfully. Any advice?

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Hi! Thank you! The effect took me lots and lots of glazing to get it smooth. I started by painting the main colours in (white in the deepest recesses, then over to yellow, orange, red and brown). Then I smoothed them out a bit by adding some more thin layers of mostly yellow-orange, gradually mixing in more reds and browns as I got towards the points of the flame. Eventually the layers got so thinned down they became more like glazes. You might notice that the flames on the fire spirits below him are a tad rougher. I painted those in the last week before the deadline and didn't have time to do the glazing. It worked very well, but it does take some hours.

Thanks. I guess I need to be more patient. I'll give the glazing a try and see if I can make it work.

Thank you all very much! I fixed the link, turns out it doesn't want to link offsite.

@ROTTEN_FACTORY I have two nurgle things that might fit! The first is a conversion of a blightking for my Undead, a creepy crypthorror.

The second one is a kitbashed plague marine who's accompanying a nurgle-corrupted inquisitional warband. He's been themed around the 'garden of Nurgle' with a fair amount of dryad and tree-man parts.

Thank you!

Today I'd like to show you a slight conversion of the free Stormcast Eternal that came with the White Dwarf. I filed the icon off his shield and gave him a Bretonnian head.
His paintjob isn't too special but I did try and give him a nice elaborate base.

Nifty. It's amazing that the Brettonian head looks to be in scale with the Stormcast body.

Is that a twig on the base?

While looking at some of my old Lizardmen I decided their bases were too bland and boring. Most of them are from the 5th edition starter set. They're monopose and the basing I used really doesn't set them apart, does it?

So far I haven't really done any rebasing for Age of Sigmar yet, but since I decided to re-do these ones I asked myself the question: why not switch to round? The new 32mm bases would give these miniatures a bit more space and break up their posing as well, instead of having them cramped in a 5x3 block. And thus, with the help of cork rocks and cheap home decor and aquarium plants, I created something far more eyecatching for them. The mini's on the photo's below aren't the same as the ones above. I had already moved these on the new bases when I realized I hadn't taken a photo of the old one, so the backrow of the unit stood in as an example.

I finished the first two of my Khorne-themed Warriors of Chaos. The army will have a strong female theme with a lot of headswaps, with Valkia as leader. The heads I use are the heroic scale heads from Statuesque Miniatures.

Out standing work, every model has character which is really helped by the excellent paint jobs and the dynamic bases !

Lovely work here. I'll add your wordpress, and also steal that Chaos Warrior idea with the Statuesque heads, as they look excellent on the models.

Thank you all!

Today I'd like to show you my (re)painted Bretonnian trebuchet. It's one of the first models I bought after starting with a Bretonnian batallion box. There's no conversions here, just a scenic base. Unfortunately, one of the crew members went missing years ago, so instead I promoted the kid with a slingshot to his own base. The Trebuchet is the old metal one. Even with a dremel it was a pain to pin together, but it worked. More or less.
The base was made with cheap airdrying DAS clay and some sprue.
Lots of pictures incoming!

Earlobe deep in doo doo

female chaos warriors are excellent remind me of Justine from Trollslayer still some of the best depictions of the variety of Chaos in that book

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

For a while it seemed as if the Bloodreavers from the Age of Sigmar starterkit were doomed to a box in my closet as I had no idea what to do with them. Their salvation came in the shape of the White Dwarf slaughterpriest and now they form a neat little warband! Their colours and bases are inspired by the Eredar and Tanaan Jungle from World of Warcraft. Photo's of the individual bloodreavers are on my blog.
