Oh, I love this scene! And dual-bladed lightsabers, of course
So, back to the Mystery man, he ain't so mystery anymore!
More:
This one is based on the main character from the movie Captain Alatriste (in its turn, based on the series of novels about Alatriste by Arturo PĂ©rez-Reverte).
While a bit boring, this film is still very pleasing to watch due to its exquisite visuals, where most of scenes are made a-la 17th century pictures.
So, I've been tasked to paint the miniature according to the movie style and, well, you can see (and, I hope, enjoy) the result
It took me about 16 hours of work. Basecoloured with an airbrush, the rest was brushed on.
Also, It appeared, this miniature took the second place in the largest Russian painting competition The Crystal Hammer (judged by Kirill Kanaev aka Yellow One) in a "Single 28mm Historical Miniature" nomination, losing the first place to Ringil. That was a bit unexpected...
That's the story, fellas.
Cheers!

@LDD:

In fact, it's not much of an achievement... but it's pleasantly nonetheless And a good beginning, though I'm not a competition guy anyway.
@ El Vik:
Thanks, mate!
I don't like the legs position very much, but other than that it is a very nice miniature indeed.
By the way, his hat is could be taken off and there's a bandana under it.
Okey...
Recently we've got an interesting commission - to make an alternate head for the FW Fulgrim with calm and somehow contemptuous face. And it turned to be quite a tricky task...
First, we had no precise size of the head, nor any proper reference.
Second - the original head have a complicated mane, which flows strictly according to the model's dynamics and, in particular, to the model's cloak.
Third - we had no the model itself...
Thus we had to google, measure and calculate a lot to get at least an approximate size which appears to be 7mm for the head or about the size of a regular SM helm.
The hairs I decided to make shorter. No reason. It just looks better, imo
So here's the result so far:
That's it.
Thanks for stopping by!
PS:
Also, sometimes we use our abilities in a weird way, ya' know

Hey, fellas,
it's been a long time... And I have to say, I've missed you and this place =)
I've been paiting a lot this year, commercial stuff mostly (a great deal of my work was for Brother Vinni, though). On the other hand, my sculpting practice wasn't so plentiful, unfortunately... =/
Anyway, there is quite a stockpile of pics to share... You like pics, right?
I won't throw everything here at once to keep the place clean and will start with a few most recent updates:
A 75mm animesque katana girl I've painted recently for AlbinoRaven Miniatures. Quite a funny one with her tongue out, but a nice figure overall.
Few more pictures:
Also, the customer is selling this one on eBay.
And my first take on a FW Primarch. Lorgar Aurelian, Primarch of Word Bearers. Unfortunately the budget on this one was rather low and customer requirements on schema and style were rather strict... But still it was an interesting experience. The figure is extremely detailed and somehow tricky to assemble. I wish I had more freedom on this one, since there is really a huge potential.
Few more a bit brighter photos:

I came up with the name for her, as silly as it sounds: Katanun (Katana nun)!
A fresh paintjob I've done for Brother Vinni: unusually fully dressed Saga-style warrior woman, raising her axe in a battlecry for Odin or something...
Very nicely sculpted and detailed. I especially liked the hair and fur.
More pics:
And another one of Vinni's miniatures (quite renown one), painted for private collection in a quick and simple way:

I've painted these for Brother Vinni's Indiegog "Dungeon Sisters". The campaign features some classic Vinni's MSFW content.
There are six miniatures currently, but supposed to be more (about 30 total, I believe) in some future.
Warning: nudity and violence!
Much more pics I've posted in the Painting & Modeling Showcase section of forum.
And an unexpected bunch of Historical miniatures in 1/35 scale.
Most are by Evolution - a really superb sculpt and cast and probably the highest quality miniatures I've ever painted.
If you're into this kind of thing, I strongly recommend to give it a look: Evolution miniatures
Lenin monument by Armor35. Painting miniature as a statue is quite funny...
A sad Clerc by Evolution (he is a part of diorama where he being escorted by NKVD agents, which is never a good thing) and Driver by Armor35:
NKVD agents by Evolution (also for this diorama with Clerc):
Soviet Tank crew by Alpine:

Well, I'm not a big fan of overly exposed and violent stuff too - just not my thing... But I found myself being rather happy and eager to paint anything new, especially since it earns me some cash
Anyway, you should've seen the late version of that pyramid riding poor wretch, which was, believe it or not, rejected by Vinni as way too gruesome:
...I just could not stand to test the new GW's "Blood for the Blood God" - it appeared to be quite realistic and easy to use. Great stuff!
Viktor von Domm wrote:But you got me out of hiding with that chainsaw shield!!! Awesome idea, can't believe no one else has ever thought of that before... k

It seems to be my thing to pull out those overly obvious ideas (like minigun SM)
But yeah, I'm really proud of this shield - it turned out a well scaled and detailed piece, without unnecessary exaggeration, but interesting and SciFi-esque enough. At least I think so
Sorry, I haven't shot a better pics to share the entire miniature yet, since recently been overrun with quite a bunch of commission work, speaking of which...
A set of classic Soviet monuments, the most common and widely spread statues, seen almost in every city to town and village, and a huge box of various 1/35 of WWII period:

Thanks for the comments, people! Viktor von Domm wrote:will ou paint these models as monuments...steel and so on or rather like the old times painting style they used to be portrayed in?... They are of the same set as Lenin monument (by Armor35) and should be pretty much on par - something like gypsum, since most of such statues were a cheap monuments for small towns and villages to portray the ideology of a Soviet regime. So... I had lot of fun with airbrush today, trying to imitate this stony/gypsum-like texture: Theophony wrote:Pics aren't working for me , stupid smart phone is getting a little yellow case. I've uploaded some of the pictures to the Dakka gallery - should be fine now, I hope. Edit: Lol, it's my 666th post

Hey, friends! A quick update: I've finished with the Soviet monuments - you can check the results in the Painting & Modeling Showcase "More than fifty shades of gray" thread. Also I've finished that old project of mine, which gathered dust for almost a year on my shelves - A Silent Menace: One more techknight, an ascetic characters, who took a vow of silence after some gruesome events in his past, seeking revenge and remission... I still haven't come up with a proper name for him. Been thinking about Hesychast, but it's a bit straightforward for my taste and also heavily tied with Orthodox Church, which doesn't suit the character, imo. Anyway, pics! More pictures: I have plans for a several more techknight, though it will take some time with all that painting comissions I've got recently (less than a year, I hope )... My next month will be like this:

Nice job on the sculpting. I also like the idea of a chainsaw attachment to a shield, Will have to steal that.
Stone statues look perfect. Is that a low pressure through the AB to get that effect?
