Sales aside, is there a place to officially buy miniatures for this game? Seems that the CMON store is perma-dead, and I'd like to pick up some specific models before the game dies forever. I'm still regretting not getting some specific Confrontation and Hell Dorado miniatures back when they existed, and Dark Age seems to be along those lines.

Miniature Market seems to have a very limited catalogue.

Miniature Market bought all the CMoN stock so what they have is all that exists as far as anyone knows.

Sadly not, it (and Wrath of Kings) are still owned by CMON who have sold all their remaining stock to Miniature Market,

We have to hope CMON sells the rights to the actual game on (or runs a one and done KS?) or else all we've got it the dwindling stock of stuff on store shelves and the 2nd hand market

I was thinking about Dark Age recently (re: MM sale) and really hoping somebody competent picks this game up. I'd be lying if I didn't think about gathering investment $$ and doing it myself ... but for all my powers, I'd probably just mismanage it too

After seeing the kickstarter for HATE, I wouldn't be surprised to see them do a similar style kickstarter and target the same audience with Dark Age. It would be a simple matter in terms of rules redesign to make it fit on tiles. Don't know if we'll ever see it but here's hoping.

I would be in for everything. Pretty much sight unseen.

I'd hoped when they announced their reskinning of Project ELITE that they would've placed it on Samaria.

It seemed like such an easy way to keep Dark Age relevant, use models already in existence and put into plastic, and get even more people interested in the IP.

Except we got leftovers from the failed Sedition Wars expansion reboot (which wasn't all that bad of thing I guess as there was some fun stuff) and Dark Age continued to languish.

Just like they could've had Wrath of Kings stuff pop up in Black Plague or Green Horde, or Massive Darkness, or in its own dungeon crawl...

Sometimes CMON's decisions baffle me. A lot of their products could be turned into some nice cash cows but they never give it the continued push they need.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Ya, I don't know why they never followed the Wrath Of Kings KSer with a dungeon Crawl. But then again CMoN doesn't have a traditional one of those do they? The market is is quite crowded now but years ago you had very little they could have easily taken advantage of.

It doesn't help that the only competent designer for miniature games that they kept was Michael Shinnall and he transitioned into the hybrid field of ASoIaF and some minor work in other things when they went the route of boxed products.

Massive Darkness pulled in $3.5M, but I haven't heard anything about it since. Has anyone?

BGG'ers didn't like the campaign system and some post-campaign rule changes. But I know others who like the game.

Arcadia Quest is, imo, only themed like a dungeon crawler, and it's been milked. Starcadia Quest brought in $1M.

My guess is that CMON puts out games they want to put out. Not to the point of *totally* ignoring customers, but certainly past customers loyal to certain game lines.

Maybe that's why CMON backers are *CMON* backers, not backers of particular game lines. What CMON consistently does is provide high quality boardgame plastic for lightweight games and has built an audience around that?

I forgot about massive darkness. Guess it shows you how little impact that game made despite an impressive haul.

That's a common take on them at least here on Dakka, wonder how the boardgame market views them? Most of the CMoN stuff I bought was for the game but then I've only backed Blood Rage (second KSer, missed the first), Rising Sun, Trudavang and Zombicide Invader. The last one I backed for minis to use in RPGs. I own a lot of ASOIF but don't play the wargame. So I could say in volume I'm 50/50 buy for the game vs by for the minis -- but I wouldn't think that's out of the normal for the broader tabletop crowd.

Well, I consider myself a boardgamer and RPG'er over a wargamer, and the BGG sentiment (which has a Euro bias) considers CMON as overpriced garbage -- er, plastic -- except for Erik's Euro trilogy: Blood Rage, Rising Sun, and Ankh.

BTW, CMON's audit happened at the time of Ankh, and was highly discussed on BGG. IMO, BGG's concerns over the audit made a dent on Ankh.
* Rising Sun: 31K / $4.2M
* Ankh: 23K / $3.3M

Although I certainly don't know where the "CMON fanboy" can be found on social media. I assume FB, but...

I miss Dark Age...

I wish I could've gotten a box of the Air Caste Cyclones/Whispers.

I'm not sure I've even seen anyone post pics of them!

Yeah, me too Alpharius. It is my favorite Sci-Fi minis game by a long shot. I clicked this linked hoping that there was some news that CMON sold the game to a company that is half way competent.

I don't think we're going to be that lucky here.

I vaguely remember something about it being Doust's baby, and him not willing to give it up.

I mean, sure, he'll kill it and lovingly look at its preserved corpse forever though...

Dark Age is SUCH a good game. I will still probably buy some of my missing Kukulkani minis if I can find them.

The guy that wrote it also wrote Ragnarok, and it feels kinda sorta the same, but really Dark Age as a game deserves so much better than its gotten.

Here’s hoping the Second Life tournament that was supposed to happen at Adepticon 2020 gets plugged for Adepticon 2021.

Every time you guys drudge this topic up I get my hopes up.

I keep picking up Kukulkani whenever I can too. Stuff is getting scarcer, that's for sure.

I wasn't aware that Ragnarok had Dark Age pedigree behind it. May have to check it out once CMON's Trudvang arrives. That was kind of in the back of my head during the campaign too.

Can anyone give me a overview on the thousands (approximately) of Dark Age books?

Obviously they are multiple editions, with newer ones being... newer, but I presume some older ones would be worth picking up for universe type content. I've looked for concise info, but have drawn a blank. I'm hoping someone here can give me an idea without to much trouble. Cheers!

Well , just found that Ragnarok book for under 20 with shipping. Yoink.

Book wise, I have a few of the faction specific ones. I enjoyed reading them as they're a lot of fluff. The base rules should still be free to download off the main site.

Ragnarok is a lot of fun. It’s model agnostic, so you can use pretty much whatever models you want. The setting in and of itself I find you be pretty entertaining. It will feel familiar to Dark Age players since Dark Age is the basis that the author’s ‘Morpheus Engine’ stems from.

Ragnarok has a lot of Over-the-Top action moments, which is one of the things it’s really big on. Players are trying to get their clans/tribes/groups to reach godhood, which they do by collecting god spark, or the shattered essence of fallen gods. This leads to a lot of really cool moments as the essence of different gods does different things.

One really cool in-game moment that stands out is when two jarls were fighting on top of a cliff. One of the jarls powered up a huge strike and one powered up a divine shield. The defensive jarl got blown clean off the mountain, landed in some ruins, got up, dusted himself off, and started chewing through some grunts. It was awesome!

Maybe we could make this thread a ‘Morpheus Engine’ N&R thread to cover Dark Age and all that is ultimately spinning off of it.
