I know an ex board member of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, loves his wargaming.

Plenty of copies in my local Asda, I think this one is a bit of a harder sell because of the increased price (stating the obvious) and the Plague Marines are a bit more of a pain to convert if you have multiples. Not so bad if you have some spare bits from the multi part Plague Marines. I have converted the champion model into a heavy plague Spewer marine.

Pictures of conversion would be good.
I already have the set, but have just received issue 2 so not sure what to do with these ones..

Here’s how I made 6 different models from two sets of Conquest.

Only a few extra bits used. These aren’t fully cleaned up but are mostly done. The plasma gun came from the leader’s backpack, and I replaced the missing vents with those from a spare Marine backpack. I’ll mix with my Dark Imperium ones and add a single extra Bolter dude for 2 x 7-man squads.

That is very efective, good job there….Same can be done with the primaris.

I succumbed to the lure of issue 2 today, saw a few issues in the local WHSmiths and I couldn't help but purchase one (for now)

For anyone interested, I received my issues 3 and 4 today, confirming the ultra marines captain comes in issue 5 and another set of the ETB plague marines are in issue 6.

Thanks for the heads up. Are the repeat figures confined to the ETB Plague Marines, Poxwalkers, Intercessors, Reivers and the Chaos Cultists?

Its not the captain, its the exclusive Ultramarines Lieutenant Calsius (https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/09/16/the-conquest-continues-with-issue-03/)

The big picture shows all the repeats.
I think all the first 4 things are definitely repeated.

I kind of wonder if the repreats coming this early is designed to deprive those subscribing only for the Lieutenant of some extra awesome deals? Personally I’m ok with. Just an excuse for me to quickly wrap up these two squads with an extra box of Death Guard

I suppose so yeah, then the better stuff comes in time.

Just need to find someone who wants to buy the ETB Plague Marines. Two sets too many
I already had those guys twice..

Also note, 5 and 6, no paints for our first time.
As we know only 30 odd paints so less than half will have a paint..

Were people expecting The Plague Brethren rather than three ETB Plague Marines again?

Interesting comment on that Community article confirming issue 5 won't be in stores and that you'd need to start subscribing..

Wonder if that extends to Forbidden Planet.

"We are the Red Sorcerers of Prospero, damned in the eyes of our fellows, and this is to be how our story ends, in betrayal and bloodshed. No...you may find it nobler to suffer your fate, but I will take arms against it."

I think it's just that as with all partworks, that they stop being "stock" items for newsagents and you need to start ordering them specially.

If Forbidden Planet were stocking later issues of other Hachette partworks, then they'll be stocking this, I expect.

Also in stores, they mean GW perhaps?
As places can choose to stock as with all Hachette (which is basically what FP are doing).

I’m not sure people were expecting anything really as we’ve got no idea.
Just shock of 6 issues, having two the same already I suppose

I used to work in the magazine trade so have a bit of knowledge on partworks.

To start with part works are sale or return for the stores, so they can send back any unsold to the distributor for full credit. Once they reach a certain issue, normally issue 5, they become firm sale which means retailers can not return any unsold for credit. This is normally the point at which retailer wont stock the copies unless they have firm orders from customers as all of the risk belongs to the stores. Of course forbidden planet may stock them and hope to sell them but most regular newsagents and stores will stop holding stock from issue 5 onwards.

Hope this helps

Not too much to say about them if you are a 40k veteran, but I penned a few short notes: https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/2018/09/17/conquest-journal-first-models/

Slightly bummed out that we will be getting an identical set of Plague Marines in issue 6, but I am thinking the Lieutenant will make up for that.

What do we think is going to happen with the big stuff (like the Repulsor)? One sprue per issue?

I would expect that, but done such that subscribers get the full thing in one delivery

Subscribed to this with my friend. I collect Death Guard and he's Blood Angels so it made sense.

Gotta say though, I'm feeling envious here. He gets a swanky new character model in issue 5 and we get... duplication in issue 6.

Been scanning the large pic frantically to see if we get any new special toys... anyone notice anything? I can't seem to find a high res pic which doesn't crumble when you zoom.

Do you not have the poster from issue 1?

The only exclusive is that Lieutenant. Still, swap the arms on the death guard squad leader and grenadier and you've got five unique poses, it's not that bad. I'm pretty sure there'll be some duplicate Marines too.

IMHO it is better to order through your local newsagent than to subscribe which is what I've decided to do.

Trying to pick up issue one was difficult, so I ordered a couple extra direct from Hachette's shop. It has not gone well.

No despatch notification
Paid for express delivery but took about a fortnight to arrive
Only received a single copy of issue one (not the extra I ordered) and the flimsy polythene envelope meant the magazine's corners were dinged up
No automatic refund for the unsent item
Hachette "customer service" via telephone is a very hit and miss affair
Still waiting

Fair enough Hachette may be overwhelmed with the initial demand but they don't inspire confidence. If GW had been able to run this directly I would have no qualms about subscribing.

A weekly walk to my newsagent is no hardship. I don't need the sub freebies anyway and I do need fresh air and exercise.

I picked up issue 3 this morning on the plus side they got rid of the backing card and the miniatures are in a proper box downside it cost €11.20 rather than the €9.99 I was expecting I guess the retailer set the price themselves and I have no alternative so it’s take it or leave it. Won’t be subbing to get the €9.99 price as I’m only interested in a few bits a pieces along by the way and if the retailer drops it after issue 4 that’s that.

Still cheaper than €15.30 that the contents normally cost.

Similar to my experience.

Took ages to arrive, and of the ordered 10 (Loot Group, not greed!) I received 1.

I've been in touch over email, and am just checking for a response now....nope, no further response since I gave them extra info.
