Looking forward to see what you do with the Lychguard. Are they on 25 or 32mm bases? It is amazing what the extra 7mm of base does to make them look more imposing.

Also did you get a new camera?

Yup, these guys I painted years ago in my gakky old version of my normal scheme, so they've been stripped to be updated!

No new camera, I take my WIP photos on my phone though. However I've moved back in with my parents for the year (paying off debt and avoiding Toronto rent), and my mother happens to be a photographer so I might get her to take photos of finished minis with all her professional equipment!

Now that you mention it, these guys are old models on the 25mm, looks like they need 32mm now! I'll have to rebase them! I might even have to order in some 32mm bases. It's funny, you can actually see both the older 25mm and the new 32mm in different pictures on the Games Workshop webstore page for the Lychguard!

Slow slow process.

I realized that before I could do the green, I had to do the gold because of the gold disk at the centre of the shield. And so:

I'd say you can be sofar quite proud in regards to their looks.

Coming along nicely Gwyn. Those bases do look comically small though! good luck sourcing new ones and finishing these guys too

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It's slow work, they keep me busy. Young lawyers aren't famous for free time.

Here's the green well on it's way to completion, alongside my reference scytheguard. I think it's coming along well!

Green is finished (except the OSL that has to wait until the rest of the mini is done).

It will make the army much brighter with the silver armor instead of the traditional black and green lines.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I'm quite happy with the green. I don't think it's quite as smooth as I got it on the scythe lychguard, but it's still pretty good.

And in my opinion, the faces came out better!

Thanks Graven! I really am quite happy with them, the highlights came out really smoothly and not blocky.

I'm also happy with the more dappled purple that I'm switching to, I think this proves that it will work on larger surfaces.

Wow, the green and purple is great together. Really nice work on the green glow effect, and the white skulls are a nice focus. Top colour choices and execution all round.

Very cool glow effect and the purple looks lush. I have some necrons from Indomitus I need to paint up, need to read up on how to do these cool glow paint jobs!

Thanks all! I'm enjoying the iterations on my scheme.

The next stage doesn't look all that special, because they were already sprayed silver. But I cleaned it up, washes and highlights. Unlike some of my other models, I'm not gonna be weathering these guys or any characters. They're nobility, they don't get dirty!

Looking good Gwyn, the glow is fantastic! You can never underestimate the clean up stage. The nobility being less weathered makes sense, good luck finishing them up

Thanks gobert!

It's always a challenge to hunt down all the little flyaway spots of paint and clean them up. There's always one or two that get missed and haunt me forever!

Little red details. Then OSL, then varnish, then I need to carve them off the bases and rebase! Am I missing anything?

Gwyn,

If you are going to rebase them, I might tweak some of the ones that are looking down and have them a little more upright.

They are nobility, and not regular grunts after all.

My two cents,

You're so right CB. Doubly so after my sister got me a little something for them for Christmas (see below).

Yeah they got a much-needed update these last couple of years, some real interesting models. And even the 7-8 year old parts of the range are good!

My sister got me a pack of 3d printed thingamajigs, amongst them these two things, which I immediately tinted and painted! But now I'm definitely gonna have to do some cutting, carving, and reposing, because none of my guys had a pose that really made sense with an active shield. No excuse now!
