So,while doing interviews with Susan Sarandon at Cannes, the subject of porn came up somehow. Susan Sarandon thinks that porn doesn't appeal enough to women and believes she can do it better, even as she admits she hasn't watched enough to know what the problems are. Well, okay. Actress criticizes adult films for not making it appear pleasurable from a woman’s perspective
Susan Sarandon has suggested she could consider a foray into the world of directing pornography because many adult films are “brutal” and don’t focus on female pleasure.
The actress, 69, was commenting on how female directors make sex scenes more interesting when she made a “slightly tongue-in-cheek” suggestion that she could consider offering her input to adult films after retiring from acting, according to The Times.
“I have threatened in my eighties to direct porn,” she said. “I haven’t watched enough to know what the problems are. Most pornography is brutal and doesn’t look pleasurable from a female point of view. So I’ve been saying that when I no longer want to act, I want to do that.”

Female directors make sex on screen more interesting, Susan Sarandon has claimed, as she sets her sights on making the pornography industry more acceptable to women.
The Oscar-winning actress said that female directors were less embarrassed about exploring the reason people have sex and “what the scene is supposed to tell you about these people”.
Sarandon was speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, which has often been overshadowed by accusations of sexism. There is annual criticism of the low number of female directors, and last year it emerged that festival organisers demanded that women attending red-carpet events had to wear.

I really don't get this "porn for women". My wife and I have watched it together and mostly it's the same. I've also watched some of the "porn for women" and it comes off as HBO TV level porn.

I agree, but it's not because of her C.V., it's because of the dumb things she says when she discusses politics.
However, as opposed to when actors normally opine on (random political or world event here) where nothing they say functionally has any value, at least in this case, Susan Sarandon is sort of in her wheelhouse.
As an Oscar winning actress with 50 other awards, I have to assume she has at least some insight into successful filmmaking. If she says she thinks she can improve direction in pornography then I welcome her efforts. It certainly seems like a low bar to hurdle from my view as an end-user of the product.

That's how I feel about Sean Penn, or Stacey Dash, or Alec Baldwin, Chunk Norris, George Clooney, Curt Schilling, I mean any of these guys.
And my beef isn't even really with these people! I mean, everyone has their opinions, you know, and that's OK. My beef is that their opinions get reported in the actual mainstream media despite them simply have no real expertise on the subject matter. The media essentially asks these questions hoping they can provoke a full-fledged feth-up media moment when one of them says something stupid, because the real point is to drive clicks or what have you. It's irritating. I don't care what Tim Robbins thinks we should do about Iraq any more than I care about what Condoleeza Rice thinks about the validity of method acting.
I mean, someone smarter than me already expressed this better than I did (NSFW/ language).

In response to the question of whether we in the UK get celebrities mouthing off as if their opinions are relevant - Yes, we do indeed.
One of the main offenders is the Singer (ex-singer?) Charlotte Church, who often gives interviews that make me want to vomit at the sheer, banal stupidity of her "thoughts".
There are others of course, but she springs to mind.

There is porn out there already that is geared towards women, so it's not like she would be inventing something new.
