So I I was wandering around the internet, idly wondering if anybody had made a true-scale terminator out of a centurion kit, and ended up stumbling upon a very neat conversion from a Finnish blog that used Ork parts.

So I said to myself 'I think a space marine's arms would fit in there...'

A few hours later here's what I have so far:

Lovely, truly 'eavy metal.

Would love to see some scale comparisons but I think it's pretty badass.

Far more tactical dreadnought armour than some sculpts. The standard 40k marine still leaves me wanting a little bit. But catraphractii are pretty.

Looks like a pretty interesting concept. I'm a big fan of the 'holding a gun' pose.

Looking at the shoulder pads and the position of the head I'd suggest finding a way to move the arms up slightly.
Also, it looks like you've used regular marine arms, have you considered trying SM Terminator arms instead?

That aside, looking good

So I'm going to see what I can do about lowering that head a little bit to line up the shoulders, it's not as big an issue on the model itself as foreshortening is missing with perspective here, but it is fixable.

I've decided to commit on grav cannons and hurricane bolters, but I'm a little worried I don't have the space on the model for that second weapon.

Does dakka have any thoughts as to where I could put it?

Could you rack mount them above him like the cyclone missile launcher on old terminators? Or a predator style shoulder mount.

I just wanted to reduce how it looked like it needed to waddle:

(Just so you know, the lascannons are attached with magnets.)

Cut out middle groin-guard, smooth-out the side pieces at the back, glue to tops of legs.
On hindsight, I would probably cut off the first "knuckle" of the side and rear "toes" or off completely to look more in line with the "Contemptor" dreadnaughts.

I do like the "linebacker" look of these guys, I think there is a way to make it a bit more cool looking:

Cut the missile side bays out completely, clean it up so the arms pull in closer and maybe a bit down (will have to check how much plasticard to fix..
Then angle the shoulder guards down on a 30 degree tilt.
I would shave most of the rounded and raised areas on the back of the gauntlets till they are flat (still just above the level of the hands).
Then glue the guns / missiles on the back of the arms, green-stuff any nasty transitions and plasticard if the pod sides did not survive being cut out..
It looks like it would work nicely (The weapon pods): the 45 chamfer on the top and that sloped bit at the bottom to clear the big weapon underneath.
<optional> Maybe cut 3 polystyrene tubes for each launcher, seeing those would not look out of place.
Spoiler:
THEN the arms looking all huge a beefy makes sense with all that hardware on them and I like it has a bit more flexibility for aiming.
<edit> Maybe add to reinforcement bands over the top of that bare looking gauntlet.

I think for the head, I would slap-on a dome with cut-outs similar to the librarian psychic hood but a smaller opening.
Like a wider Bobba-Fett cut-out to not impede vision when turning the head side-to-side or to look down.

That is a few ideas, I was satisfied with my simple fix in the picture since it addressed the "waddle" issue.

<edit>. I would like some holster for a bolter at the back: the suit looks like it is meant to be an easy-on frame, I think no marine would like to leave his bolter behind.
I also can imagine the frame being a smoking wreck and he pops it off, grabs his bolter and keeps on fighting like nothing happened.

Agreed. Ditch the regular pads and move the arms up.

So I wasn't sure if I should resurrect the old thread or start a new one, but I finally got around to taking another crack at these.

I really wanted to save the space marine shoulder pads here, I really like that aspect of the look, and on top of that the right arm has the pauldron built into it. I did shave some parts off the underside of the shoulders as well as the top of the pauldrons, its cheating but that on top of lowering the heads by removing the nubs helps them look - less- disproportionate, but still not absolutely perfect.

Then I realized the picture I took had the arms slip down and make it look just as bad:

Will post another update once he's properly glued. Need to fill some holes so the arms have some purchase on that torso.

I'm working on the six of them together right now, and someone ended up giving me still more centurions for Christmas (game store secret Santa's, ftw). That's actually what got me back to working on them, and I ended up building a counts-as terminator captain out of centurion parts too:

His arms are magnetized, so are the pannels on his legs but I realized too late there wasn't enough room to have his helmet hanging off his waist dramatically, so that'll just be a swap I can use. The storm bolter and power sword were the first arms I made for him and ended up looking the best (extremely T-Rexy, but that's the nature of the conversion concept, hes a space marine on stilts), a storm shield turned out well and im considering what equipment options work well on a terminator captain.

Definitely an improvement...can't wait to see more. Centurions are, objectively speaking, one of the worst things I've seen GW create. I'd like to see some that I don't hate. You're on the right path.
