++2021 update: Better photos of this set can be found here in this youtube play through by ArbitorIan
Going to buy Lost Patrol primarily as a fun paint project.
I recently painted up ++Bomberz Over Da Sulphur River++ Having a small number of minis to paint is quite pleasurable.
This game should fit the bill with only 17 miniatures and 6 tokens.
To get ready I bought some jungle bases to paint before the game drops.
My FLGs only had three packs so I was short two bases :(
I press mold copied the flatest design and added plastic GW man eating plants.

Then blocked in some flat colours. Greens, Yellow and blue.
The plan is that I would then hit the entire base with green ink. It dulled the brightness, murked the blue and yellow with green. Tie everything together.
Just need to select a Trim colour to finish them.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this too. May have to steal some of the ideas from here was going to get Lost Patrol as a painting project as well. I figure I have enough scouts and stealers as it is. So I don't need them to add to my forces, so I can spend my time doing a good job, might have to source some nice jungle bases like you have done now too....
Standard Combat SM Scouts and Genestealers In red and purple plastic.
Built everything. Scouts got armed the same as the guys in the booklet. 3 Shotguns, Heavy Bolter and sergeant with pistol chain sword. Jungles are pretty dark places so they also have night goggles from the sniper scouts sprue.
I had a little fun with the Genestealers giving some combos that do happen in the codex. 4 talons or 4 rending claws
but it's raining so can't undercoat today :( Marines I'll undercoat grey. Genestealers milka purple.

genestealers 99% done just need to repaint the toes that got stripped during basing.
Scouts were Base coated. I was going to based coat grey and then pick out the armour in red. But decided to do it the other way and base coat the armour and then pick out the fatigues in grey...
I used a bright blood orange spray and then inked red.
Genestealers want to start the killing now and not wait until the scouts are ready... Just like the game I guess...

Good thinking! Exterminus - Something like if only the scout leader is left alive he can call it in! It would make an excellent forced draw rule ...

Great quality components and a fun project. It's hard to recommend... due to the rules! It's Hard to believe this was properly tested and this is what GW wanted to release!?
There are a few of these GW Lost Patrol testimonial videos.
When the people who made the game are all saying 'we've never beat the game.' You have to wonder why it was released! Why they not make changes to the rules if you can't beat it?
Last night I played More games at my Local Club. We played about 6 - 8 games - Rules as Written. All very fast, quick games with lots of scout death -Zero Scout wins. But people were all clearly having fun, although a lot of it was laughing at how bad the rules are. Laughing at how many of the little rules GW added to the game to make the scouts task even harder.
There is an element of 'how far did you get??' 'just one more go!' but I'm not sure how long that will last.
We then tried tweaking the rules for the last game and reduced the Genestealers to 2 actions. This balanced the game a lot, so maybe a swing too much towards the scouts. The scouts died every now and then and two scouts found the drop pod before being killed.

"They all still died obviously"! I like how depressed those gents sound in the video, it does sound like an uber difficult game. It does sound like a minimal amount of play testing was done, but at least you seem to be getting some enjoyment from the game.
You smashed through the set in double quick time Panic, good work. I especially like the themed bases and the use of the goggles on the scouts.
The game is tough, but with the right group, it's pretty fun. I've said it before, but reducing the Genestealer player to two actions really shifts the game balance towards the Scout player. It's actually winnable at that point.
Nice job on the figures though. How are you transporting everything without ruining your paintjobs?
That last game was heartbreaking. They finally found the drop pod only to get eaten... Beautiful paint job on the game even if the rules are a bit wonky...
