So I'll update as I finish models for the game, but it felt appropriate to finish the leader of the X-Men first, so Cyclops is done. And with detail built into the bases, no basing material required. I'm very happy with how he turned out, there are 4 different blue hues on him to get the costume how I wanted, and I think he's going to cut an impressive figure on the table.

Thanks man! I haven't tried using an air brush yet. Haha. Everything is layers, washes and dry brushing! He took me about 2 hours from start to finish.

And Colossus joins the lineup!
Everyone's second favorite Canadian who smells like wet dog is up next. Saving the best Canadian for last (of the first wave). Gambit and Nightcrawler were ordered today, and I'll have an X-Force variant of Wolverine and an X-Factor variant of Cyclops coming soon as well, as I bought models before this game came out too.

They look awesome. My wife and I finally started painting our backlog of Batman minis. Awesome sculpts but some of the detail is rather shallow. Lovely job bringing out the character here.

Thanks guys!! Yeah, some detail is a bit shallow; Cyclops' hand that is pointing isn't very well detailed on the backside. All my other models have had pretty good detail though; I'm quite happy with everything except the backside of that one hand!

And Wolverine is up. Rogue will be next, then Deadpool, X-Force Wolverine, X-Factor or classic Cyclops, then hopefully Gambit and Nightcrawler will be in.

Nightcrawler and Gambit have arrived and have been built. I'm taking them out to prime in a couple mins. Actually, it's pretty nice; I have two full X-men teams (points notwithstanding)
Classic Giant-Sized team of Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus
Rogues gallery of X-Men characters: Deadpool, X-Force Wolverine, Rogue and Gambit
Will continue posting pics as figures unfold.
I think I'll enjoy that first team load out the most: Nightcrawler teleporting Cyclops anywhere an optic blast can do the most damage, Colossus hurling Wolverine at anything that looks at me cross-eyed.

So the Ragin' Cajun is finished up. The pic looks pretty good, but somehow the card actually looks like it's flashing! No idea how the camera did that! But without boring you all...I'll just show him.

And yes, this is my first attempt at OSL.

X-Force Wolverine and Rogue have been finished. Rogue looks good to me via the photo, but her costume feels a bit pale "in the flesh". Still, pretty happy.

Image of all the models so far, including variant costumes. I've found a couple gun arms to use for the extra Deadpool torso I had too, so there will be an X-Force variant for him as well.

I know this is the guy everyone was waiting for before commenting. So without talking too much (yeah right), here he is; the merc with a mouth. The ass that doesn't shut up. The guy who would give your grandmother a wedgie while putting burnt toast in her hair....Deadpool!!

Got a solo Magneto figure (thank you CMoN!), and I converted him to be in his current Marvel Now white uniform. Since the whole outfit is white, painting him was gonna rely on shadow. I sculpted his cloak front differently, gave him a utility belt and X-buckle, and the magnetic circle/disc things around his forearms. Hope people like it, although it definitely looks grittier in the pics. A lot cleaner in the flesh. Er, metal.

The problem that I can see with your Magneto is that the rough cast did not play well with your attempted paint scheme, hence the "grittiness". I think he would have looked better if you had prepared the metal first to get a smoother surface to paint on. You can find tutorials and videos that will explain this better (look for "smoothing metal miniatures" or something, here's a video that helped introduce me to the idea a few years ago), but basically smoothing the surface with a fine-grit sandpaper or steel wool can make a huge difference. Personally I like to apply some liquid greenstuff first (you can also use milliput or other types of putty that are sandable when set), leave it for a full 24 hours, then sand the surface with fine sandpaper. This fills in pits better and can give you a really smooth surface, though it takes a fair bit of time and effort. Be careful around detail; this is really just for smooth areas of the model (especially cloth like Magneto's cloak), getting putting into areas of detail or sanding detail off is probably not what you want to do. I recommend practicing on a test model (a metal one of course) before working on anything important.

Apologies if you are already aware of the technique, it's just that it looks to me from your photo that Magneto would have benefitted a great deal from some smoothing.

Actually, no; I wasn't aware of that start up technique. Thanks! And I posted the pic of Magneto before he was sealed (which creates a smoother look on its own). I just looked over the figure and it looks much smoother than the picture. I'm gonna try to get a better pic of him today and throw it in.

Fair enough, though smoothing the surface before painting will avoid the shading in the pits in the metal surface; it's not usually a big problem, but because your Magneto has such a strong contrast between his light and shade colours those pits are much more visible (or at least they seem to be in the photo).

I've just received the X-men box in the mail today; looking forwards to seeing if I can get my Colossus to look as good as yours!

Looks like you're in Hartford? If you're ever up to play, seems it's not too terribly far of a drive, could meet up for a game!!
Maybe we could look into a game store near New Haven.

And I'm glad they're inspiring to you! Glad to help, and glad you enjoyed them!

Man, it's been a while, and the news of KM axing Marvel burns. But the character leaks Paradigm showed gave me a bit more oomph to work. Presenting (not by KM!!) Maverick!! Now a Weapon X team can happen!

Iceman, Avalanche, Blob and Cable join the ranks. Cable is using Ravager's rules from D.C., Iceman is using Killer Frost's, Blob has ruled, and I'm not sure how to use Avalanche yet. But here they are!
