So, I'm whipping up a IA:8 ork super heavy flyer called a blasta bommer, and I've got a couple problems I'm working on.

FIrst is I'm going to need some big jet turbine engines. Anyone have suggestions on how they've made some of their own? I have a good idea of how to make the inlet turbine and jet engine body, but I think I could use help on the end nozzle of a jet engine. Not sure how to start with it.

Second is this thing is.........big. Probably about the size of a thunderhawk when it'll be completed. And it's pretty heavy. How can I get it up on a stand? I'm almost certain I'll have to make my own - anyone have suggestions on how to make, say, a thunderhawk stand?

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Words to live by.

I made a mold out of some valkyrie engines so I could recast for later use. You could just use the front fan thing of the turbine and make a tube behind it with some texturing (Plates, weald lines, etc) to bring it all together. Size wise, I think they work pretty well with the size of a dakka jet. Here's a pic so you can get an idea of the scale.

For a Stand I recommend the tripod approach. Get yourself a clear plastic Dowel about 3/4" or maybe 1" then cut it into 3 segments of appropriate height, and attach them to structure points on the flier. Then you can base them together on one big base, or base each one on a separate smaller base (60 MM would be good), and so long as the center of gravity is appropriately distributed it will be quite stable.

The advantage of using a dowel like that is you can drill a nice round hole for them and make them stable.

The nozzles from the Ork fighter kit are pretty large and there's a couple of variants in the kit, so you should be able to pick them up on eBay. Heck, I think I might have a couple spare if you're interested?
