Just wanted to ask about the new sprue (was it an upgrade sprue of some sort? My memory is foggy.) that was mentioned awhile back, and see if it was still scheduled for release. The topic seems to have gone quiet.

Yup, apologies for the delays, the models are all painted up and we are just putting together a full new 'codex' style book for each faction (for free!) to allow the new builds to be put together and new forces to be designed. That's alongside new reference sheets and unit cards too. Aug 15th is the tentative release date!

This is great news! I've been holding off assembling more than one sprue of each of the human units in anticipation. New fluff will be great. too. Honestly, I hope there is a lot of material on the rest of the Medgeverse away from the Maelstrom to help it feel more vital. Unless you're going to reveal more info on the Maelstrom's cause or solution--that's cool, too.

Given that the game is set on the Maelstrom's Edge, I would expect that the rest of the galaxy is unlikely to be a primary focus any time soon...

Will there be any physical releases of the new bits? In particular the codex books.

Eventually, but the codex type things are only about 3 pages more than the rulebook's faction stuff, with another 4 or so modified pages. They will get fleshed out a lot more as new units are added and will eventually get a print release, but we have a lot of models in the (extremely slow!) plastic production pipeline at the moment.

They will be out sooner - around the end of the year is the current target, bundled with a bunch of other things. Digital availability immediately of course though!

Will all the new roster cards be released in time for us to see them and decide how many sprues we'll need (and extra troop sprues) before the price goes to normal retail?

Thanks.

My Painting Blog: http://gimgamgoo.com/
Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

Hm, technically the new Shadow Walker unit card would also be needed (for the Cybel mine points). The other relevant cards are in today's blog post already.

Slightly OT but related to this thread...

Is the site; http://www.thecommguild.com
now the main place for MEdge news?

I'd previously used this dakka forum or;
https://www.maelstromsedge.com

Cheers.

It is the first point of news, but aggregate news will filter out through dakka and other places. Maelstromsedge.com did not have a great interface for showing new news, so while the content will be updated there, thecommguild.com will be the place to hear about it. It lets us be a bit more casual with news and discussion than we'd have to be having stuff right next to the store pages.

Basically maelstromsedge.com for a snapshot of all files, things, etc and thecommguild.com for a chronological list of those same things and more general community content, then the facebook group and dakka for general community interaction and sharing your own stuff.

When will the new unit cards be finalised and released? Really want to get the upgrade sprue and would rather buy any extra figures in one go to save postage. I need to sit down and work out what I've got and how many I can convert in to the new unit types

Both summary sheets on the commguild page seem to be fetching the Epirian summary.

This book contains everything you'd expect from an army book, from the background and origins of the Epirian Foundation, to detailed, up-to-date force listings, abilities, equipment and points values and model stats, along with lots of lovely artwork.

There aren't any points values in the books, unless my computer is failing to render a layer of the pdf.

Thanks for sorting Lego.

Can I check something about the Epirians - when the command scarecrow has spider drones in it's detachment, the additional units section states 2-3 Robot (ie spiders), but are you allowed to include the apprentice not handler or does it have to be purely robotic? I've gone pure robotic but there is obviously a slight advantage in having the Bot Handler protocol.

For fluff I like a detachment sent in when humans can't go - chemical weapons etc.

For that same reason I have rejigged the force roster to have a robot detachment, close quarters detachment and then more long range (which is the largest detachment).

Love how the upgrade sprue has opened up this thematic element to the force now. Cheers guys

Page 101 of the rulebook actually answers this exact question. Short answer: as long as half the models in the unit are a 'robot' then the unit counts as a 'robot' unit for this purpose (so its your choice whether or not to include the Apprentice Handlers in that detachment).

Sorry Yakface. I failed to digest that nugget from the rulebook. Should have looked before I typed. Thank you for letting me know. Gonna go sans bot handler, I like the idea of an all mech detachment.

Heh, don't be too hard on yourself TP, I know I asked Jon that exact same question and a couple more. The beauty of his ruleset is that all such details have, so far, always been answered in the rules without any ambiguities.
