Those thieves are beautiful, Weety! Are the capes / shawls etc all green stuff? Seems a shame to sell the DA after so much work...

EDIT: Sorry, pushed your post over to the next page! Here's a quote for the rollover:

I'll be selling these sometime.

Only the knights who go neep are left on the painting desk.

Hiya Scarper! Yes the capes are all green stuff. I think I have a talent for it, but it is so time consuming its hard to be sure. It seems to consume all my mental energies fiddling it into the right shapes. Capes are easy though, nature of the medium works in their favour. The hard part is rolling out the green stuff flat without leaving finger prints (mine seem to show even through latex gloves) or sticking - petrolleum jelly must be used in just the right amounts. I think I ended up rolling it out with a paintpot smeared in lube.

As to the dark angels I would keep them but I've run out of room in my flat. We're going to buy a place soon, we're just waiting for the brexit and other crazy 2017 stuff to destroy house prices first... not long now.

Some cool plastic stuff I'm ready to prime and excited to paint:

These knights have been bugging me for months so I went and did some heraldic colours just to get them started. Is it just me or do they look like the tellietubbies? Need more working on...

Cool. I got started back in the early 90s with Battle Masters, so they are really ingrained in my gaming memory.

Also this knight and then that's all my battlemasters stuff. Not such a bad way to make a cheap empire army really.

I was gone a while, now I'm back! I was very busy... I had painters block for three months to be honest.

Going to get started on those models in the morning.

You've really been knocking them out quickly now that you're back! Or have you been painting up a storm while taking a bit of a posting-break? Either way, great stuff here. I really like the neat lines on the heraldic shield devices, while the Dark Angels just look great in their own right. Might it be worth just putting them away for awhile if you'll be buying a house soon?

Meh - I bought the dark vengence box with commerce in mind and I've already sold the chaos chosen and the terminators. I'd rather sell them. I've still got tons of retro 80s stuff that will fill the shelves of any hypothetical house so I wont miss them.

Thanks Mr Az.

I've genuinely been painting but there's nothing much to show yet as its all just shades of grey at the mo:

I think they are going to be rusty. I imagine them being out in all weathers waiting to ambush the enemy, out of touch with the main army and unable to polish their metal bits.

It's beautiful work, looking creepy as Graven said.

They must be ghost cataphrons. I'm in two minds but I think I should paint the hulls a colour. I hate decisions. Red would be obvious choice...

Looks great Weety. Are you achieving the effect with successive washed coats?

Lets see - one thick coat of mixed vallejo washes - mostly grey. Then I used a black wash in the crevices and the metal is a mix of metallic medium with grey and a hint of oxford blue.

I tell ya weets... those are one of my favorite units in the skitarii army... both in their looks and the way they play. Don't know if you're doing them on commission or on spec... but they are well worth their points to a potential buyer & not just a vanity project.

They are probably going to be on sale at some point. I'm taking a huge break from internet selling, but its time i started again and made some space.

I did look up how they played before I assembled em, which is why I gave them this load-out. Otherwise I was going with the power sword and carbine for asthetic appeal - Still this means have loads of cool guns and swords going spare... hmmmm

You chose well. These can be devastating in assault, especially if you give the boss the special relic taser-goad... and they're fast too.

Well I yanked the heads off with clippers and put the right ones on...
This is the next two steps - a rusty mix of red brown and grey washes followed by highlights in a mix of metallic medium and sky blue.

So today I decided on some colours, german orange with a touch of blood red, then grey and red mixed wash. Lots of sky blue for SFX:
