Hello! I'm going to use this thread to show off my various Imperial armies. There's a few. Some are even nearly complete!

I'm going to start with my preferred army, the Hammer of the God-Emperor, the Imperial Guard.

FORCE Z:

Force Z is a task force comprised of elements from several regiments. It is commanded by the senior infantry officer, Captain Steiner of the Rigellian LIX Mechanised, and its operational aim is to probe ahead of the main Guard force. It is, in essence, a reconnaissance in force task group. Its tactical objectives change based on local information and intelligence passed either to it, or to theatre command.

Elements, Rigellian LIX Mechanised, White Battalion:

Red Company Command Group, also Force Z Command. Note the Ogryn bodyguard.

Red Company, Black Platoon, Command Squad.

Red Company, Black Platoon, Squad 1.

Red Company, Black Platoon, Squad 2.

Red Company, Black Platoon, Squad 3.

White Battalion Armoured Support Company, A Troop, Demolishers A2 and A3.

White Battalion Armoured Support Company, B Troop, Hellhound B3.

White Battalion Armoured Support Company, C Troop, Griffons C1 and C2.

Elements, Special Operations Group:

Imperial Navy Valkyrie F-Fay, 317 Special Operation Support Wing.

Stormtrooper Team Dagger-Five-Alpha, Stormtrooper Regiment 341. Equipped with plasma guns and full suits of carapace, these elite soldiers give the task force a potent punch when needed.

Elements, Borithan XXII Mechanised:

Black Battalion, Yellow Company, Red Platoon, Squad 2 - operating as an 'Armoured Fist' squad attached to Force Z to provide added tactical flexibility, the Borithans, with their heavy flak suits and elite esprit d'corps, are comparable in effectiveness to other veteran units.

Next up! Drokharan IX Taureg Legion, VII Ashkar, in their Tauroxes, Leman Russ tanks of the Valachian MXI Armoured, and a Sentinel company from the Skye's World reconnaissance regiment MacLeod's Hussars!

Haha, yes, he does! Actually I made a mistake, he should be a Captain not a Major. Woops.

Currently, my Imperial Guard section of my Army of the Imperium stands at:

Company Command Squad in Chimera
Primaris Psyker, Navigator, Imperial Navy Liaison Officer, Artillery Forward Observation Officer
One Platoon in Chimeras
One Platoon in Tauroxes (less two vehicles)
Ogryn squad in Chimera
Hardened Veterans in Chimera
Stormtroopers in Valkyrie
10 Ratlings
Leman Russ Troop
2 Demolishers
2 Griffons
1 Hellhound
9 Sentinels
2 Hydras

I need to finish off my Rough Riders (will post pics of them too eventually), get another box of Ogryns to up the Ogryn squad to 5, and two more Tauroxes to fully motorise my Drokharan Tauregs.

I am also tempted to add a third platoon of Victoria Miniatures' figures to bump the combined infantry force up to a full company.

Then I have a demi-Company of Space Marines (which is missing a Land Raider, a Land Speeder Storm and a standard Dreadnought), a Black Templars Crusade Force that needs its transports, the start of a Red Hunters army, an Ultramarines Strike Force, a Sisters of Battle army (almost complete - need 4 Seraphim, 3 Heavy Bolters, an Imagifer, and 7 more Repentia plus two more mk 1 Immolator kits), and a load of Inquisition stuff.

All of it painted except for the things I've mentioned as being either unfinished or not actually purchased!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
More pictures!

Attached Advisors:

L-R: Artillery forward observation officer, Imperial Navy liaison officer, Navis Nobilite junior Navigator; Primaris Psyker (Adeptus Astra Telepathica).

Drokharan IX Taureg Legion, VII Ashkar, Black Battalion, Blue Company, Yellow Platoon:

Platoon Command, with permanently attached Commissar (Commissar Lawrence).

Squad 1 - note the red waist sash on the Corporal, and the blue sash on the sergeant.

Squad 2 with Taurox 4x4 mine-resistant armoured personnel carrier.

Squad 3 with Taurox (this example in 'Mickey Mouse Ear' camouflage).

Hydras B1 'Bushra' and B2 'Bashira' from the Ashkar's Anti-Aircraft Artillery Company. Note the black and white marking denoting this, and the Caunter camouflage pattern.

Elements, Valachian MXI Armoured Regiment:

White Battalion, Red Company, 'C' Troop, commanded by Captain Count Geranium of Bigbush and Littletree in his Vanquisher Flammeus Princeps.

Next up (once the camera recharges) - Sentinels, Ogryns, Ratlings, and then... Inquisitors!

Thank you! The wheels are from the fantastic Victoria Miniatures' conversion kit which can be found here.

And now, some more pictures!

MacLeod's Hussars, Black Battalion, Blue Company:

Number 4 (heavy) Troop, including the company commander in '41'.

Number 5 Troop. Note the rocket launcher equipped Troop Commander's Sentinel, and the camouflage netting.

Number 6 Troop. Here the Troop Commander's Sentinel sports a heavy flamer.

Element, Adeptus Munitorum Abhuman Auxilia (Homo Sapiens Gigantus) Regiment 2101:

Note the attached Munitorum Chimera with its dual heavy flamers and flat grey colour scheme. This unit needs two more Ogryns adding to it for me to consider it complete.

Element, Adeptus Munitorum Abhuman Auxilia (Homo Sapiens Minimus) Regiment 3911:

This group of Ratling marksmen carry an older pattern of needle rifle, and wear a recognisable, if dirty, uniform. Note the Sergeant and Corporal in their forage caps.

Techpriest, Attached:

He's rather lonely at the moment. I want to add a couple more Techpriests and some Servitors, as well as a Trojan for them to ride in.

The Commissariat:

Commissars! A mix of 2nd Edition and 5th Edition models; my favourites are the 5th Edition one with swagger stick and bolt pistol and the 2nd Edition one that I converted to be waving around a religious tract and taking potshots with his laspistol. He also has a camo-cloak, much good may it do him with his ridiculous NKVD-IN-SPACE uniform!

The Ecclesiarchy:

A Cardinal, and two Priests.

Missionaries.

I still need to add Uriah Jacobus, and the super-rare Inquisitor Henchman with Eviscerator.

The frateris militia of Van Fysher's World! 11 of a final unit strength of 20, if I can eBay another nine. The uniform is unashamedly that of the Sturmabteilung.

Officio Assassinorum:

Need an enemy of the Imperium deader than dead? Call in a temple Assassin. Want them hideously dead? Get an Eversor. Want them surgically dead? Vindicare. Want them, and all their loved ones, betrayed and destroyed after years of planning? Callidus. Want to kill them and everyone around them with the sheer horror of your non-existence? Culexus!

The Inquisition!

My as-yet un-named renegade Ordo Malleus Daemonhunter. This is the chap who'll have daemonhosts and all sorts in his retinue. I accidentally made him a sort of contrast to...

...my as-yet un-named Ordo Xenos alien hunter! This fellow's also a renegade, sort of, in that he will utilise the alien if he can before destroying them utterly.

Inquisitrix D'arque, of the Ordo Hereticus. My first Inquisitor model in 40K, she's been fighting the good fight since 3rd Edition.

Puritan Daemonhunters. On the left, Inquisitor Adrianna, in prayer, projecting a Sanctuary around her to defy the Daemon; on the right, her superior, Inquisitor Lady Katherina Svalboda, in her artificier armour, with her storm bolter and force axe. Death to the Daemon!

Inquisitorial Stormtrooper bodyguard team. Usually seen guarding Inquisitor D'arque.

Death Cultists. I need a third, and then I need the official GW figures because I love them.

Servitor-Savants, or Sages.

Retinue - Melee - L-R: Acolyte, Mercenary, Chinthean Guardsman, gene-modified Guardsman.

Retinue - Ranged - L-R: Paradisan PDF officer, Commissar, Darendaran Guardsman, Parvassian Guardsman.

Pilots! L-R: Squat, Imperial Navy, 'civilian'/'Munitorum'.

Medics - L-R: Skye's World Guardsman, Imperial Navy ship's doctor.

Parvassian Sanctioned Psyker.

Aliens! A Jokaero, and a [REDACTED].

Next up! Inquisitorial Afriel Strain Storm Troopers, Inquisitorial sweet rides, and some Spess Muhreens!

That's just the Imperial Guard and associated extras! I've been collecting Imperial armies since 1996, and those metal Cadians were among the first. The old plastic stormtroopers were my first Imperial Guard purchase back around October 1996; I got given a box of 6 and went out and bought another box of 6.

I suspect the reason you don't recognise some of the figures will be because not all of them are Games Workshop. My puritan Daemonhuntresses are Hasslefree Miniatures figures, as are the Squat and civilian pilots, the green alien, the Death Cultists and the PDF officer in helmet. The female Commissar type is a Viridian Veteran Sergeant from Urban War/VOID by Scotia Models.

Everything else is a Games Workshop figure: some are very old though; the Radical Daemonhunter is a heavily converted Rogue Trader Space Marine Lieutenant from (I think) 1988 or 1989, and the Xenos Inquisitor is made up of a Rogue Trader Space Marine tank commander paired with plastic Mk VII Space Marine legs and a fair chunk of green stuff!

Great Steiner, really good models with a good tabletop standard of paintjob and being one who paints to that standard, I mean that as a compliment. It really warms my heart to see so many classic models in there as well as some that have been pressed into service from other ranges. Any good IG army should be unique.

Definitely subscribing to this one.

One thing I will say about rebuilding PLOGs is that having a base of painted models makes posting easier.

Thank you very much! I've had him kicking about since 200...6? 2007? He originally went with a full company of Armageddon Steel Legion that I'd collected (and since sold off). I like the kitbash - Baneblade commander head, tank commander torso and legs, Empire Wizard arms and hands, old metal Sanctioned Psyker staff top (from when I had my traitor Guard, the Karaboudjani Kataphractoi) and a helping of Green Stuff. Went together nicely really!

Cap'n Facebeard wrote:Lots of great old stuff, particularly enjoyed seeing the ooold storm troopers.

Yeah! I love those old monoposes. If I could find a few more of the metal heavy weapon teams and special weapon troopers (not to mention the alternative officer figure with bolt pistol and hotshot laspistol) I might even be tempted to do a full platoon of Borithans.

Kev White of Hasslefree is one of the best miniature sculptors out there. His figures are always beautiful. I hate going on the Hasslefree Miniatures website because I always want to buy all the things. ALL THE THINGS.

Aw, thanks Splaggers! There's going to be more Guard to come - at least two Tauroxes (when I get them) and, when I finally build up the nerve to face them again, my kitbashed lizard-mount Tallarn Rough Riders...

Not all of them, but I think that at least some of the Inquisition stuff has been. All the Guard stuff has been painted in the last 12-18 months... in fact almost all my painted stuff has been done in the last 12-18 months, primarily because I've had a long period off work due to a chronic illness I've developed (woo, and indeed hoo).

ANYWAY

PICTURE TIME (also post #200)!

Inquisition Stormtroopers, Afriel Strain, Ultima Segmentum:

Close Assault Section - flamer and melta, officer with hellpistol and power sword. The vat-grown clone-soldiers of the Afriel Strain shown here are wearing urban pattern camouflage and matt black carapace armour, despite their deployment in an arid environment - the Inquisition's shock troops use intimidation and fear as a weapon. Also, I thought that the OMON camo gear looked pretty swish.

Fire Support Section - plasma gun and grenade launcher, officer with plasma pistol, auspex and boltgun. This squad are almost entirely wearing their respirators, suggesting that they expect to encounter (or use) chemical weapons. Possibly choke gas in the grenade launcher? The Chimera is a command variant, and, like the other, is painted in three-tone arid environment camouflage with little in the way of markings beyond a three-barred-I.

Inquisitorial transports - 'civilian' RH1N0 variants, one with a searchlight and slaved heavy stubber, the other mounting twin heavy bolters in an open turret. Overall khaki drab because the Inquisition isn't necessarily ornate and can be quite subtle when it wants to be. Although by the time you're arriving in an armoured personnel carrier subtlety is probably not high on your list of concerns.

Next up! Either Black Templars or Sisters of Battle, depending when I can get them back from my local GW's window display!

SISTERS OF BATTLE!

This army is a Commandery of the Minor Order of the Adepta Sororitas, the Order of the Pure Blood (Ordo Sanguis Puritas):

The Living Saint, Sofia Persephina. She wears archaic artificer armour with a modified Seraphim jump pack.

Canoness Commander Elisabeta Ojukwo, carrying an Eviscerator and Inferno pistol.

Command Squad Specialists - Ordo Sanguis Puritas Dialogus and Hospitaller plus the Celestian Banner Bearer carrying the Shroud of Purity, which once held the body of Saint Persephina, whose blood did not stain.

The Command Squad in full, with the Immolator Gloriam Dei. Note that the Celestian bodyguard all wear the Sabbat pattern helm.

Rhino Irae Fidelis and Celestian Squad Shannon, armed with heavy flamer, flamer, and combi-flamer. Note the combi-flamer on the Rhino.

Rhino Semper Fidelis and Battle Sister Squad Victoria, armed with storm bolters!

Rhino Fidelis et Furoro and Battle Sister Squad Anjya, armed with meltas. Note the combi-melta on the Rhino.

Immolator Imperius Dei with Dominion Squad Hosanna, armed with meltas. Sister Superior Hosanna carries a combi-melta, and the squad is accompanied by an Imagifer carrying a Simulacrum Imperialis. NB the Immolator's twin-linked multi-melta is an all-metal conversion!

Seraphim Squad Lily, who guard the Saint.

I still have a Retributor Squad to finish (need three heavy bolters and a Mk 1 Rhino), a Repentia Squad to finish (1 Mistress, 6 Repentia and a Mk 1 Rhino), and ideally another 14 (!!) Seraphim...

Next up - Black Templars!

The Immolator conversion is quite subtle, where did you get those Melta barrels?

Very good consistent feel through the entire force from Saint to troops to Seraphim.

Congratulations and good luck on the remaining figures and vehicles.

Thank you very much! The melta barrels are the metal sponson multi-meltas from the old metal and plastic Demolisher kit; which just felt right. The Retributors will be riding in an Immolator with twin Heavy Bolters - and that conversion was quite a bit more involved than just hacking off the heavy flamer nozzles... lots of filing and chopping of heavy bolters from an old Mk 1 Razorback kit.

Thank you very much! I stole it wholesale from the cover of Codex: Witch Hunters. The background is entirely mine though!

Cap'n Facebeard wrote:Wow, totally didn't realise the MM barrels were converted until Brown pointed it out.

That's the mark of a successful conversion, so - hurrah!

Now, I'm very sorry for the long delay between updates. Life and work got in the way of photographing things, which is a bit upsetting. Anyway, here's the last of the Sisters of the Order of the Pure Blood:

Exorcist Imperator Furiosa - a Mk1 Rhino made from an Immolator kit, with an eBay aftermarket Whirlwind launcher instead of the ridiculous pipe organ option.

Random figures - L-R: Retributor Squad, or at least half of it, I need another three Heavy Bolters; Seraphim Superior, waiting for at least four more Seraphim, and the first bit of a squad of Repentia. Eventually all these units will be filled up and given transport where applicable.

And now...

The BLACK TEMPLARS of the AMALTHEAN CRUSADE:

Castellan Rahman al-Mansour and his Sword Brethren Command Squad... and two Lamenters, whose presence is not your concern, citizen.

The Emperor's Champion, who normally accompanies...

...the Sword Brethren Assault Terminator Squad. Violence!

Ancient Brother, made with a spare Dreadnought banner and a 2nd edition Dreadnought grenade launcher. Oh, and I replaced the storm bolter with a heavy flamer, the better to purge heretics with.

Crusader Squad von Stahl. Melta, power sword, and a bucketload of chainswords and bolt pistols.

Crusader Squad Guthrie. Melta, power fist, and a load of shotguns just to mix stuff up.

Reclusiarch Lachlan, with jump pack and skull-faced helm. Named for my grandfather, whose claim to fame was being responsible for suspending Margaret Thatcher's Lord Chancellor, Lord Mackay, from the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland. No, really.

Assault Squad MacLeod. Two flamers and a power fist, made more effective by Lachlan's zeal.

The Black Templar army is complete in the sense that it operates effectively at 1,500 points (4th Edition), but I want to mount them up in a Razorback, two Rhinos and a Land Raider Crusader.

Next up - The Adeptus Astartes Righteous Fists 2nd Battle Company, Demi-Company Priam!

On the Exorcist conversion is that the new version of the Whirlwind missile rack?

Like seeing the old Scouts, much better looking than the new plastic ones (one of the cases where the second/third version was not an improvement).

The Exorcist missile rack is a third party one I think - I spotted it on eBay and snapped it up because it reminded me of the loooong OOP Forgeworld Exorcist launcher.

 Captain Brown wrote:

Yeah, the old Metals are great, I'm a huge fan of them - the plastics are... questionable. I have a few of the plastics but I doubt I'll get more; they're mostly confined to Landspeeder Storm crew and Scout Bikers!

And now, seven years after last posting (yikes), here are some more Imperial things!

This is my Palmyrene Spear Primaris Space Marine army - or at least most of it, there's a few bits still on the painting table (three bikers, 10 of the sneaky troops) - and two Knights from House MacLeod. The Palmyrene Spears guard the Palmyrene Gate, a semi-stable warp route through the Cicatrix Maledictum and think they are a Raven Guard successor.
