Designing a list for a competitive tournament with an unknown meta, so it's supposedly a TAC list, though it may not look it. The philosophy is pretty simple, target priority exhaustion. I'm not claiming there aren't a few good counters to a list like this, of course there are - but I also think it's undeniable that if even a few factors break my way this list could be back-breaking. Everyone knows a sword'n'board wraithknight needs to be dealt with or it will start running rampant through the opponents lines. It's hard to imagine a list that can afford to just completely ignore a knight like that, short of flyer + MSU spam. This list puts two sword'n'board knights into the opponents face and creates, what I assume, is a must-deal-with situation. I've run hammer and anvil elements similar to this before, but usually backed it up with lighter, mobile, elements to keep the list from being too top heavy. This time I've just decided to go flush threat density. 16 wraithcannon wielding, 12 inch moving, 24 inch effective threat range wraithguard coming in behind the two durable knights. Again, I imagine these 16 models must immediately be put on the must-deal-with list - and that is the central problem I'm asking my opponent to solve, and I think a lot of lists will struggle to solve it easily. Which leaves the windrider host in the backfield, harassing, objective grabbing, and most importantly, surviving. I may be wrong, but with the front field I'm posing to the opponent, it's hard to imagine a list that says, I'm going to go ahead and ignore all that and focus on these bikes in the back. If you can, more power to you, but I imagine the list puts the bikes in an ideal situation to have multiple turns of unimpeded activity. I'm sure there's plenty here to tweak, with a codex so rife with quality there's a million changes you could make to this list that would all have merit. And again, I'm sure there are plenty of ways to maneuver around what I'm presenting. With that said, I'd appreciate any input on the list and the design philosophy behind the tactica. Thanks.

Well, you have 2 Wraithknights...
If you plan to utilize the bikes for backfield roles, why not give them Scatterlasers for more range? If you really want Shuriken Cannons, put them on the Wraithknights as they will be closer to enemy units.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Yes, two wraithknights...am I missing an inference?
Shuriken Cannons was just an OCD decision catering to the tempest of blades special rule out of the windrider host. Of course scats are superior and can easily be changed to them.

The guy is basically saying you have two knights so ofc your competitive(yes it's strong but I hate this thinking that just cause you have a knight your a try hard prick). However while powerful there are a few big weaknesses with this list, mainly the wraith host. I love the undead theme, it's just sadly not worth bringing to anything above casual games. They are just too slow footslogging have no range to back up there awesome guns, and while T6 is cool, only one wound hurts a lot. I'm an eldar player as well and my 1850 list would probably make you Concede turn 2/3. That wasn't meant to be rude, just a matter of comparison. Highly competitive eldar focus on scatbikes, Warp Spiders, and wraithknights, the filler changes from person to person but those are the 3 best units in the codex.
Also CADS are not to he underestimated, I never use the warhost.
However bringing spiders in an aspect formation is gold, wounding off initiative with s6 at bs 5 is just too good, add on their amazing mobility and it gives you the best option in the entire codex(yes even better than wraithknight depending what your trying to hurt).
Objective games are won by spiders hands down, scatbikes kill hordes, knights bust high AV
Focus on mobility and make sure you don't put scatbikes too close just to try and get a few pot shots, abuse the 4' range and stay away.
Also bring farseers with warlocks for the 2+ jinking.
Sorry if you were looking for help to make the wraiths Competitive, it's just not going to happen, unfortunately not EVERY unit is amazing in our dex xD
If your willing for a list rework I'd be happy to share my list and we can find a good common ground you might like.

Oh and as mentioned previously, scatterlasers over Shuriken on bikes, they are the most mobile unit in your army, however they are weaker than twigs, you want the four foot range to keep away from the enemy guns, avg gun range 24 plus the units movement. Stay AT LEAST more than 30" away at all times to avoid retaliatory fire and dead bikes. Also msu wins so keep bike squads at 3(obvious I know but a lot of people Sony get it)

Thanks for the response, but no need to share your list further. Of course scat+spider+knight is the optimal build of the dex, it's something I've run often. I didn't specify in my little blurb but I was specifically trying to do something a little unconventional.
