Hey guys. This is my first ever 40k space marine list. I guess I just wanted to go crazy with the meltas and drop the command squad w/ the chaplain and Vulkan in to try and take out any priority targets. The tac squads run around capturing objectives and whatnot while the stormraven squad drops in where needed. Not sure if this is really competitive since I am pretty new at 40k (especially SM). Any comments appreciated. Thanks!

Only thing I have to offer is to say if you want your Command Squad killing a lot of priority targets with the Chaplain then consider the Chapter Banner as an idea.

All members gain an extra attack (so 4 attacks on the charge, (up to 5 if you give them bolt pistol and Power Swords!) plus rerolling failed morale, pinning, fear tests....for 25 points.

Thanks for the reply. The emperor ascendant banner takes care of that along with granting it to any unit within 12 inches. Thanks for the advice though!

yeah I realised that. plus chapter banner can only be taken by honour guard.


So keep your sternguards near your command squad and both will gain extra attack!

The whole point of them is the specialist ammunition. As soon as you start giving them special or heavy weapons you may as well take a Tactical Squad instead for less points and more bodies. Give them combi-weapons if you need the melta/plasma/flame/grav

Also on razorback...t-l heavy flamers may be free and fluffy for salamanders but you're giving up so many inches of potential fire power.

if you can spare the points try going for t-l plasma gun and lascannon

Ahh ok. Like I said I am pretty new. I honestly didn't even see that part in the dataslate! Thank you for that. I got a bunch of models off ebay and just built the army around what I have. I will have to do some swaps to optimize.
