I love dreads and wanted to see if I could create a decent list using a bunch of them. I have all the models required with the exception of Bray'arth Ashmantle. I plan on getting him to field in my Sally army in the near future. For now I have a venerable dread that will be a good proxy. I would actually like to try a dread list competitive environment so this is why im posting here. I would have liked to go with the flameblade SF, unfortunately the stormlance and demi company are to restrictive so I went with a CAD to get the most Dreads podding in turn #1.

- So 5 dreads are coming in my first turn and staying in there shrouded Pods. Open Topped allows me to shoot out of them with either melta or Heavy flamers. Pods basically give me 3 extra HPs and they are all shrouded. Night fight makes that better, additional cover even more.

5 dreads are going to be tough to deal with once they charge out of the Pods in turn #2. Lots of S10 attacks along with twin linked shooting. the 2 big boys are nasty in close combat. I feel these 5 dreads could tie up a lot of points worth of the enemy. Tanks aren't safe either for the most part.

The remaing pods with Vulcan are going to drop in on objectives.

looks like im going to get to try out the list tomorrow night. Nova missions, ITC FAQ. Playing Necrons with a Sentry Pylon star in it. Should be interesting. Not sure how to deal with those pylons.

That is cool.
You sure the Pods have Shrouded? I thought Burning Retros was only in effect while the Dread was standing on the doors.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Burning retros Shrouds the Pod (even to interceptor or similar rules). Shrouds the dread if it remains anywhere on the pod (including doors). All shooting through it or over it is also effected by shrouding.

Reading the Necron Pylon rules looks like cover saves work against it so the LDP is actually very effective in getting the dreads in range to charge them next turn.

That they are. I still use them with my Space Mutts even without knowing Burning Retros works before the Dread disembarks.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.
