... of Silence, that is.

The perennially reliable rumourmonger Sad Panda has talked about Sisters of Silence being released as part of the upcoming second HH boxed game. And now we have confirmation that not only is that boxed game on the way but will include, per the leaked WD cover for November, plastic Custodes!

As of yet, there's no confirmation that it will also contain Sisters of Silence but even if it doesn't - plastic Custodes before plastic Sisters of Battle?!?! The only thing that could possibly make this cruel joke any crueler is if plastic Sisters of Silence did indeed also arrive before plastic Sisters of Battle.

Now I am excited about the Prospero Burns boxed games, and about the Custodes, and most of all about the prospect of Sisters of Silence figures. But as a Sisters of Battle fan, it's hard not to feel trolled.

Hang in there. I support the sisters, but even I acknowledge that sisters have been the butt of every edition. Let GW make their Sisters of Silence and let all the kids and newcomers go "wow, these are cool" for a while. Eventually they will ask for the 40k variant, and GW will get embarrassed and point at their current line, and the kids will go ask where it really is. Then, we might get lucky and have GW finally update the line for us old timers. Or just get "modernized" Sisters of Silence models branded as sisters of battle.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

There is someone over in the White Dwarf thread insisting that there is a Sister of Silence in the cover pic. The pic is too blurry for me to tell if he's trolling or not.

Well the rumor has consistently been Space Wolves, Custodes, Sisters of Silence versus Thousand Son and Spire Guard... in this box set... So even if they aren't pictured on the cover it's reasonable to expect them.

This is a smart way to do it...particularly if the Sisters of Silence are basically just Sisters of Battle-esque figures. You fill a small niche and do your normal game routine etc.

I would love Sisters of Silence. There would need to be some clever fiction to fold them into 40k, though.

Look at the sisters of silence artwork then look at sisters of battle not even close.

Weirdest case scenario: a clam pack that makes either.

Beast Arises is basically a HH-era story, though. Yeah, it's 1500 years after the Siege of Terra but, galactically speaking, that's the blink of an eye.

The Sisters of Silence are an unknown entity in M42. It is said that they might just man the Black Ships, but this is unconfirmed.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

We've seen on board black ships in 'third party narrator omniscient' before, and it's always Sisters of Battle and Inquisitorial stormtroopers crewing them in the M.41 era, though.

I'll be very interested to see what they do with their background.

I think that it's great that Sisters players could be getting extra-grim, extra-dark 30k models.

But I will be shocked to see them in the boxed set. OTOH, if it's 5 Custodes, 5 Sisters of Silence, and mostly others, I could see the Sisters being tossed in as the token "chick" (i.e. inferior, throwaway expendables compared to the all-important He-Man Woman-Hater Custodes & Woof club).

As for Sisters of Battle, yes, GW is making plastic minis of yet another extremely obscure force (Custodes) before making Sisters of Battle in plastic. As predicted.

I could see Codex: Hrud before Jokaero.

But I'd really want to see massed Donorian Clawed Fiends.

They aren't plastic sisters if they're plastic Sisters of Silence.

Even if they would be colossally easier to convert than the existing items on offer, no matter what the nay-sayers say... nay-say.

And ultimately people are grasping at straws regarding the supposed SoS on the white dwarf cover anyway. They'd be more promenant on the cover if that's what they were.

And really, would you be surprised to hear GW shelved 30k Sisters of Silence just in case players tried to convert Sororitas out of them?

It's less the cover image and more Sad Panda being a reliable source.

But even so: PLASTIC CUSTODES. I mean WTF.

From the tone of discussion at the seminars at Warhammer Fest, I did take from it that Sisters of Silence would appear in the next big wave. We were polled for who would be excited for this, Wolves, etc. as a kind of strange moment, but maybe hinting.

Either way, SoS or SoB, more plastics is always good news.

Yeah plastic Sisters of Silence is good news.

All of this happening with no plastic Sister of Battle on the horizon is bad news.

I think this is par for the course. Plastic Sisters of Battle is a pipe dream, and anybody who believes otherwise is in serious denial. Plastic anything else is entirely feasible, OTOH.

At the beginning of the year, I would have said the same of the Genstealer Cult, and we all know how that turned out.

Shhh shhh, let it out.

Seriously, I prefer denial. I don't really understand why but I would like to care about 40k again and I know a new Sisters army would do it. Regimental Standard has also been helping. And yes the GS Cult news is good news, too!

It's not like I've ragequit 40k. Or even Sisters (I'll be keeping my girls for a very long time!). I'm just really, really irritated about the SoB BS.

Alas, such a sad story.
After getting plastic Sisters of Silence, also getting an update for the Sisters of Battle seems about as likely as getting an update for Bretonnia:

The Sisters of Silence likely will be more or less an replacement for the SoB, considering how similar in theme they both are.
