Craftworld Aryllon

Here's my main project, an Eldar craftworld I created.

I don't see many eldar conversions (barring the excellent Andy Hicks - http://eldar.arhicks.co.uk/), so I hope this provides inspiration for some people!

Finished works:
Craftworld Lore (part 1)
Farseer
Warlocks
Seer Council
Autarch (this post)
Wraithlord1
Wraithlord 2
Rangers

I've been collecting Eldar since around 1995 and picked them up again when I got back into the hobby in 2008.

My craftworld uses a mainly bone and indigo colour scheme with gold metals and turquoise as the spot colour. It is very psyker and wraith heavy, with few aspect warriors and zero mobilised civilians (no guardians, no tanks, no vypers etc). It is also supported by allegiances with other Eldar factions which I'll introduce as we go.

I paint slowly so I try to keep a low model count with small unit sizes. I also love character models so always try to include as many as possible - quite often using them as things like unit leaders to make things visually exciting. Small units and lots of nice sculpts mean I spend more time on each model, so there are a lot of conversions too!

Here's my Autarch to start, the old Limited Edition guy with quite a simple parts swap and paintjob. Hope you like!

Aryllon,

Found your PLOG.

Your purple and brown Eldar continue to astound.

Cheers,

Thanks guys

Here's one of the first things I painted for the force sometime in 2009 - he's since been re-based and tidied up a little but overall I still like him.

Bar his left fingers being curled, he's pretty much un-converted.

This was also my first ever attempt ar NMM (on the sword) - I'd probably increase the contract and smoothen the blends a little now, but overall I again think it's stood up ok to the test of time.

Shame about the purple blob I got on the blade mind...

There's another wraithlord to follow, with a converted brightlance longrifle / combi-flamer, I'll dig it out soon.

Great Wraithlord.

I am certain a little water and wet paper might be able to remove that very tiny purple paint.

Nice looking Eldar you have here. Love your palette choices.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately in my trial and error first approach to painting NMM, I glossed over the blade so that purple patch definitely isn't coming off...

At this point I'm really pleased I used Photobucket image links for my Warseer plogs because it means I still have a bunch of the photos (even if some people, quite fairly, dislike Photobucket links... sorry guys).

Case in point, here's my Rangers

Love this unusual paint scheme. Maybe try turning the purple dot into a blood drop? Dunno might work

Aryllon,

Those scouts inspired me to strip my old lead ones and do a trail brown scheme.

Photobucket is the only reason I still have my photos.

Although I have been uploading the finished ones to Dakka for a bit and using both tools to show off models.

Cheers,

Nice browns. I like the fact that you kept the accent colors from the rest of your army. While purple might not help when hiding, it does tie them into the rest of your force.

The brown/tan is giving off a jedi robe vibe. In a good way.

Thanks again guys

I had initially painted the Rangers' armour in the schemes from a variety of craftworlds (with the aim of the robes tying them all together into a single unit).

It was based on the Eldar path books where bands of rangers come together from different craftworlds.

But it didn't look as good as I thought so I changed it so they're all Craftworld Aryllon expatriates.

Here are the Warlocks - I always loved these models and they've really stood the test of time.

Pretty sure when GW get around to doing them in plastic they will stay fairly static of pose. A bit like the wracks.

That's some really nice work, chief - I can't find a thing to suggest improvements on.

How large a force would you say you're up to, after the years you've spent on the project?

Aryllon,

More great posts of classic Eldar.

Now you are getting me thinking that I should pull out my old Eldar...Bad Captain Brown! Bad Captain Brown!

Thanks everybody!

Dysartes - not a big force actually, I only paint a couple of models every couple of months. But there's a lot more to come in this plog yet.

Anyway - the title says assassins and I wasn't kidding. I had some fluff for these guys but it was of course lost with Warseer too. I'll find time to re-write it for you guys.

Here's the first one - my Eldar 'Callidus'

And here's the Farseer, a conversion I made in 2010 but didn't paint until recently.

I got a bit furstrated and rushed a few parts (bone parts, upper purple robe) but overall I like how he turned out.

Soon I'll share my Eldard conversion, it's sitting on my desk awaiting paint.

Haha, totally!

Thanks as always guys. Found another pic in my photobucket library. It's not the full seer council yet (just missing Eldrad), but it's almost there.

Absolutely stunning work! I love all of it but that wraithlord is especially well done (pose and painting) and I have a soft spot for rangers, yours deliver quite well. Keep it up, can't wait to see more.

And welcome to Dakka

Thanks guys

I promised Eldrad, so here is Eldrad

To be clear - I converted this long before the new Eldrad came out.

I'm kinda annoyed that I sculpted the fiddly decoration and face on his helmet so it matched the 'real' Eldrad, then they brought out a new model and changed it!

Amusing that their new model looks like the old model crossed with my conversion, haha

Amazing conversion work! He's got the perfect Eldrad vibe to him and the pose is great. I can't wait to see him painted.

Ha well, I just bought my first airbrush so next in line is a bunch of bases which I thought would be a safe place to start. Plenty of room to make mistakes. Then I might do all the airbrush work on my Nurgle rhino before getting back on the brushes. Eldar Callidus will probably be first (just for motor memory purposes, as I don't paint very frequently), then Eldrad will be on the agenda

Then I'll finish the rhino with decals, details and a bunch of weathering.
