This may be asking too much. I have looked all over but cannot seem to find kits of Orcs that are both within my price range and desired sculpt-quality. I am looking for multi-part, hard plastic, generic fantasy orcs I can kitbash into my own idea, possibly for The 9th Age. Could someone point me toward some good companies that might help? Some kits I saw that I like have been Foundry's Orcs (though i'm not sure they were multipart, though too expensive anyway), and GW's AoS lines *MIGHT* do, but its a tad mainstream, I prefer their LotR lines but again, too expensive to build an army out of.

Also, while we are on the topic, does 9th Age have a particular setting or can my army be anything?

Mantic's orcs are plastic, multipart and pretty cost effective, and you can fit them on round or square bases by design:

I have to agree, I don't think you can get better cheapo orcs anywhere else.

I'm now looking into both of these, and I like their ranges (I had actually already considered them, but wondered if perhaps their was something better out there).

I actually had an idea; the best heads seem to come from Kromlech, so for originality I could mount them to old WHF chaos marauder bodies. The only problem is I'm not sure how they would scale, but that's my general idea. Perhaps i'll use Uruk-hai heads instead.

My goal, if I wasn't clear, is to create most of the armor and uniforms myself through putty and kit-bashing. I really just want good-looking bases on which to build, so the armor needs to be minimal.

These are super cheap, but not multipart:

15.4 pence each when you buy 50.

A Mantic Orc Great Axe Horde (40) will cost a little more as the Shield Wolf Mountain Orc Infantry box (20).

The mantic option will be 60p each, a Mountain Orc 112.5p.

A GW Savage Orc 120p. If you buy the Getting Started Orc box, it's about 97.5p per Orc.

Honestly, I'll buy the GW Orcs over the Mantic Great Axes if buying through the Getting Started box (through Wayland), although 65% more expensive, and would buy The Savage Orcs over the Mountain Orcs. If huge numbers were needed (if I didn't already have a crapton of GW Orcs), the em4 Orcs would top the list.

Oh, forgot, If you buy through the Orc Army with Wayland, your buying at 39.5p/great axe. The problem is I loath Restic and it contains restic boar riders (the chariots I don't know).

Someone else can get eBay to work but, if you wait for an eBay Flash Sale (use Slickdeals.com to wait for a 3+ thumb deal), you can knock off a few extra bucks from a $50+ purchase of a Mantic orc starter.
