Hi guys,

Just getting back into 40k after a few years break and got the new blood angels codex! I would love some help on if what I think is viable is actually viable, and any other suggestions! Besides the models for these lists I have a sicaran tank and Dante+10 Sanguinary guard if those might be better?

Here is the list I am currently thinking of fielding:
death company command:
Death company chaplain w/valours edge
death company strike force:
Death company chaplain: w/gilded crozius
2x5 DC
1x 15 DC (in spartan) (I think these guys will have 6 attacks each on the charge?)
1 DC dread:

archangels orbital intervention force: (can disordered charge after deep striking)
2x5 terminator 4/5 TH/SS:
1x5 5x LC:

allied detachment:
Scout squad:
Librarian:
spartan assault tank w/ armored ceramite:

1995

the spartan (with 15 DC, 2 chaplains, librarian inside), dreadnought, scouts, and 2x5 man DC squads will start on the board with the 3 terminator squads in reserve. The problem I see is the deep striking terminators have no reduction to scattering. Thoughts? Thanks!

And here is an alternate list:
archangels demi company:
2 furioso:
2x5 terminator 3/5 TH/SS:
1x 5 terminator LC:
1x10 terminator 6/10 TH/SS:
terminator captain w/ valours edge:
1x5 sterngaurd vets:

archangels orbital intervention force: held in reserve, 1 roll for all, can disordered charge when land.
3 terminator squads: included

allied detachment:
Librarian:
Scout squad:
spartan assault tank:

2000

The main benefit of this second list is that I believe it will allow my 3 smaller terminator squads to deep strike with reduced scatter and charge turn 1? Is that as good as it sounds? The deathstar then becomes 10 terminators+captain+lib instead of the DC, which is better? This list also has 25 total terminators which I feel would be hard for some lists to kill?

I don't think the chaplains can ride in the spartan as they have jump packs

For Khaela Mensha Khaine
For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

In your second list, I don't think you can count the Orbital Intervention Force as part of your Archangels Demi-Company. They are separate formations... you would need to totally fill out the Demi-Company before you add on the Orbital Intervention Force, which gets priceya nd hard to fit in at <2000 points.

the rulebook seemed to suggest the opposite of this? that you totally could overlap? it says "“Although units cannot normally belong to more than one Detachment, units from a Formation that is part of a Angel’s Blade Strike Force are an exception. They count as part of both their Formation and the Detachment, and have all associated Command Benefits and special rules. "

I am pretty sure you are right looking now, so that makes me tend towards the second list much more strongly

What the rulebook means is the terminators will belong to the Orbital Intervention Force (formation) and the Angels Blade Strike Force (detachment). They can't also belong to the Archangels Demi-company (another formation).
