Hi

I've been talking with a friend and we've both been looking for a new project we want to work on together as a concerted effort. We'll pool our money on it if needbe and make something awesome.

So we're looking to find the largest 28mm Scale model that's available for sale right now.

The largest we've found for Sci-Fi is the Tau Manta, and we've found a number of pretty huge ones for Fantasy (such as the Chaos War Mammoth and Two Headed Chaos Dragon), but we're interested to know if there's any larger for either

Doesn't have to be GW/FW, we're just scrubs, but must be available to buy in a new condition

Thanks

I'd hazard a guess that the Warlord Titan from Forge World has more mass to it than a Manta once all's said and done, it's definitely more expensive if that's any measuring stick!

Leviathon Crusader in 28mm might be worth a look the 15mm version is current knight size and it's a nice hard plastic kit. Also fully articulated and poseable.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

If going by most parts believe the record is the 800mm railwaygun Dora in 28mm.

Least 400 individual parts.
Also pretty enormous. If not less projecty by a artuatic merit

Its 1/35th scale sure.

But

Is listed as "one of (if the) largest production plastic models"

I would love one to mount it to a giant battleship tank or something equally crazy.

Would also love a Ratte model of similar scale. With the Dora in existence, I don't see why it shouldn't! oh well...

If the model is 28mm...wouldn't the largest model be any model that is exactly 28mm?

A 28mm by 28mm by 28mm gelatinous cube

This sounds right, (And the kits are surprisingly available, hidden away on top shelves in model shops).
I believe the assembled model is longer than a Warlord is tall. Certainly weighs alot less.
(And costs ~10% of the Warlord)

Oh if only I could use it as a Macro engine in my local GW, I'd definitely have one.
But gaming in there is advertising, afterall.

I think the Leviathan may be the largest plastic 28mm scale miniature. There's bigger plastic models out there of course (if we count 1/48) and bigger resin but I think it's the biggest plastic miniature.

If you're interested in Fantasy, the GW model for the dragon Smaug from the Hobbit movies is pretty darn big.

I know that Reaper include a really big Tiamat-style dragon in their latest Bones KS but that's not actually available yet.

I've got it, the answer.

The largest 28mm model possible is a sphere of annihilation with a diameter of exactly 28mm!

What do I win?

But the diagonal exceeds 28mm!

The cube uses the space most efficiently though
28mm on all external sides. Perfectly filling the space.

Make this into a half sphere than you have your biggest model

In terms of height, the Eldar Phantom Titan from Forgeworld is probably biggest though the Warlord probably has overall greater mass.

I have to ask, why do you want to build/paint the largest 28mm model, regardless of what it is, anyway?

You'd find it much more interesting, and cheaper, and logistically plausible, and rewarding, to create some sort of giant diorama of something you find interesting. Like a siege or battle from somewhere.

For instance, I've always wanted to do a 300 diorama in 15mm. 300* half-inch spartans facing off against thousands of half-inch persians.

*And I actually mean 300 of them. They'd fit on a 1x1' board.
