I've heard good things about Infinity and the barrier of entry isn't that high, so I have been taking a look. I'm not clear on the rules, force org or feasibility yet, so figured I would ask here.

I have wanted an army of only constructs, robots or automatons for quite some time.
When I heard about Aleph I wondered if I could. Can play infinity with only bots? Is it legal and feasible?

Technically speaking yes and no. Aleph uses a lot of "Remote Presence", so that what is on the board is a construct, but it is still controlled by an organic being someplace else.

Almost everybody else that has an actual locally controlled construct requires either a Hacker or TAG to field. Combined Army has the easiest access to that with their Unidrons who can be 90% of the army you field. They are kind of "Geth"-style constructs instead of the more obvious "Tachikoma"-style constructs.

So, a lot depends on what you want to field and which you like the looks of. Both Combined and Aleph are a bit tighter in their list construction due to their more elite units status (Aleph being the more elite).

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

I see, thanks. Close enough.

I think I'll go for Aleph. Where do I start?

Your list will need a lieutenant. As far as i know most models that are remotes (bots) don't have lieutenant options. Also once you lose your original Lt you aren't able to select a remote/ bot unit as a new Lt during the game.

So you would need at least 1 non-remote unit in your list to start the game and having all remotes for the rest of the list would restrict who you could nominate as Lt should your original Lt die. It would also make it pretty obvious who your original Lt was.

Although you could take a TAG as your Lt which also allows you to take remotes in your list as well. Thats probably the closest you'll get to a legal all 'bots' list.

The million dollar question:

Do you want a list of heroes and badass "Recreations"(AI constructs patterned after heroes of history, in the case of ALEPH? Greek heroes) housed within synthetic bodies or Cylon styled constructs led by a few synthetic lifeforms that think they are human or are human consciousnesses inside of bodies purpose built for them?

I'm not that keen on recreations. Failing robot only, I'm going for a Ghost in a Shell kind of thing?

Where can I find the the fluff for each unit, like what exactly each is?

Product descriptions on the Corvus Belli webpage aren't a bad way to see. Otherwise you're looking at the books as the fluff source.

Recreations are a special case of the synthetics. So don't feel too put off by that. I'm not too familiar with Ghost in the Shell, but from what I understand there's an element of 'body hoppers' in there yeah?

Anyways, some suggested products for starting beyond the Starter set and Support Pack you got?
There's an upcoming Posthumans box with all male sculpts and a few profiles that didn't have models before and an existing Posthumans box that is getting a bit long in the tooth age-wise.
There's the new Garuda with Spitfire model(a lot of the Aerial Deployment models lost HMG options if they didn't have a model or also received a cheaper Spitfire option if they did have a model) as a good one.
The Naga Minelayer isn't a bad choice either.

If you choose to stick strictly with the Special Ops styled ALEPH, you're looking at what is commonly referred to as the "Vedic" and "Posthuman" bits within the army. You're looking for things like:
-Dakini Tactbots
-Garuda(Spitfire is the newest one and a gorgeous sculpt; I highly suggest it as it's also a really good setup being an aerial deploying troop with a mid-short range weapon)
-Naga
-Dasyu
-Deva
-Posthumans
-Asuras
-Maruts(the ALEPH "TAG")
-Atalanta(she's a Greek model but commonly comes up in this setup, since the "Vedic" Sectorial is what will likely be the Operational Subsection[fancy name for the wetworks branch of ALEPH] and Atalanta is hinted at moonlighting within their ranks)

I hope that helps, and if you have any questions or concerns regarding the ages of the models feel free to ask. I can't guarantee I can respond immediately, but I'll do my best to respond within a day or so.

I really like the look of the rebots, so I'll probably get that box.
That does not leave me far from 300 points...

I'm thinking I should get something more powerful than combi rifles, so I'll either get a sniper or HMG wielding tacbots. Not sure if I should go Dakini or Garuda.
The Devas with devabots look interesting too.

There is currently no Sniper Dakini model, so be prepared to convert that. The HMG one is a finicky model, so be aware of that.

Like I mentioned, there's a new Garuda with Spitfire coming out that is the 'new' aesthetic for the Garuda and there's the new Posthuman box coming as well.

Devas with Devabots are a solid choice. They're a cheap potential LT option with a nasty trick in the form of the Devabot. Bonus point, as well, is that Devas can be represented by basically any human model you like from within the Infinity range since Deva Functionaries take on forms to blend in/compliment the faction they're working alongside of.

I think only running pure "robots" would be tricky. They don't cover a lot of bases. If you include posthumans or Asuras you could do well. That will also give you a LT and a hacker (both of which would be necessary in your list). Your access to special weapons would be a limited as well, but it's a cool idea.

Start working with the Army builder and let us know what you come up with.

I can certainly help if you need Dakini or more Devabots and the likes.

Having read up more I see that the human looking models are actually synthetic (i.e. not too bad for my theme issue), so I'll probably play Vanilla ALEPH favouring bots (the greeks are not quite the robotic aesthetic I want).

I'll definitely start with the starter, it's good value and, well, a decent force to start with.

Another option for drone lovers is Imperial Service of Yu Jing - high AVA of basic drones, specialized Yu Jing bots with MSV, awesome heavy transformer bots with HI rules, and the option of Aleph tacbot support.
