I've started painting my Sylvaneth recently and I'm painting them to look like birch trees.
My current recipe has me spray them white and wash them with Nuln Oil to give the recesses depth and to colour them grey. But I need something for a highlight colour and pure white is too strong. My current idea is to maybe thin it down with Lahmian Medium for a weaker colour.
Which shade of grey are you using? Celestra Grey or Ulthuan Grey?
If you're spraying them Corax White and just shading them, it makes highlighting a little tricky. I'd either go with Pallid Wych Flesh or Ulthuan Grey for your highlight.

If you want them to look more natural then you could use tiny amounts of brown in your greys. That way the end result won't be too sterile and feel more natural, you might also add some green if you feel adventurous. That would also allow you to add most of the skin type colours instead of only relying on the paints that are named as a "brown". For your highlights you could try adding the lightest flesh tone you have to your white (or the grey if it's not too light in itself). The end result should still be a grey but with a slightly different tone so trying a two or three (or even more) to one ration of grey:brown should work.
