Hey there.

Interested in starting AWI for 28mm. I'd like to start with some skirmish games though.

Does anybody know of some rulesets?

Muskets and Tomahawks is a brilliant set of skirmish rules that can scale up to larger battles at the player's discretion. It is centered around the French and Indian War, but covers up through the Revolution.

It uses a card based activation system similar to The Sword and the Flame. Depending on the units rating, there are more or less cards in the deck, but then they also have varying actions. So units with less cards might do more when they act, but act less often.

It also has mini/side missions that you can roll up for the game. In theory each commander has other objectives they must complete in addition to the mission.

Haven't gotten to play it myself yet, but it reads really good and some of my gaming group have played and enjoy it.

Thanks for the help guys.

I picked up a copy of Sharp Practice. And a big load of miniatures to go with it.
